"if you take the knight... you're dead" Jerry: I watched all of your chesscube bullet and blitz tournaments back in the day. Believe me, I know just how poisonous taking that knight is 😉
Very very instructive attack! Never seen it but seems the same attacking roll out could be used in the London if the London player delays castling as Grishuk did here. Very instructive game showing how to deploy pieces to exploit an h-pawn fish hook tactic. Seems White should have played Ne5 sooner before Grishuk got in Ng4. The different activity between each sides bishops and knights was striking in this game! Jerry you found a gem that’s a masterclass in how to conduct a kingside attack using a slav/London set up where White wastes time & plays passively and Black has not castled. A game worthy of study to dissect what White should have done earlier in the center & queenside to short-circuit Black’s brewing Kingside attack. Thank you Jerry for your superb commentary! Happy holidays. Cheers!
No idea why this happens. Do you observe this with all of my videos or just the one’s where the clocks are showing? Identifying a pattern can be helpful.
This is interesting to read; I watched on mobile and didn’t notice anything at all. Maybe it’s only noticeable on larger screens, or maybe even a different OS?
If I recall correctly, the more modern Tigran L. Petrosian was named after/in homage of the more legendary Tigran Petrosian. I don't think there's a (obvious) blood relation.
Well disciplined play by Grischuk. "Discipline is the soul of an army. It makes small numbers formidable; procures success to the weak, and esteem to all." --George Washington. Thank you for sharing.
The "Tale of the Tape" shows that not so much White's Rc1 nor following Nd2 moves are inferior, but its subsequent return of the Knight to f3 ís.("14. Nf3 Advantage: -1.2") Your analysis shows how Black capitalizes on that mistake, but you do not elucidate what, instead of Nf3, White's response to Black's Nf6 should have been.

Going back in time to play this shows real dedication on Grischuk's part
Tinfoil Tigran, not to be confused with his great uncle Iron Tigran.
Thanks for the info. I was very confused for a moment.
i was wondering and looked up what the "L." was for ( in fact i looked if Iron Tigran had this "L." ^^) xD

I miss watching Jerry go fishing. Those were the days.
Tigran L. Petrosian? Of the "pipi in your pampers" fame? wild
But not of Tigre Petrosian, world champion fame.
Awsome as always thanks Jerry
And thank you for watching. 👍
My pleasure Love your videos ❤
Great to see Grischuk doing well in New York, such a brilliant creative player, as shown here.

It's not THAT Tigran Petrosian.
True. But, this one is a legend in his own right
I learn a lot from your videos. Chess can be so much fun but also so FRUSTRATING!!!!
Good to know. 👍 Part of the games’s challenge is in recovering from those frustrating moments. 😎
Fabulos game, thanks!
Weird graphical bug going on with the vertical delimiter of the e and d files! Makes it hard to watch for me, just letting you know.

@@ChessNetwork This was the first time I noticed it. It looks fine to me in the video with Naroditsky's KID.

Happy new year all!!
Nice game! I was really confused with the Petrosian name. Any relation?

Every second Armenian is named Petrosian. 😉 - And, Tigran, the First, was quite a celebrity in the country.
Crushing attack!
really well played not to castle
Often you don't castle in the Caro. Black is just so solid that you often don't have to.
the idea that giving away a single tempi can be so devastating even for humans is jaw dropping!

Man what a venomous position, Nd2 looks so innocuous and it just blunders a rook
Nice :)
When you watch Jerry's videos you actually learn chess, thank you!
Happy to hear 👍
Beautiful Caro Kahn 😍😍😍
Hi Jerry.
I had no idea there was another chess player with the name Tigran Petrosian
You must have never been to r/ chess
@@DarkSideChess oh god I can't imagine, hopefully it's not too bad for the guy. But no I haven't

…Rh1+
K×h1 Qh4+
Kg1 Qh2#
That's slower than Qh4 Qh1#. There's not a single move black can do against Qh4 to prevent mate on the next move, so it's still forced.
