He is the nicest guy off track but when that helmet comes on he turns into a beast. There's only one goal and that is to be first! But he's really down to earth and has absolutely no diva personality when he's not racing. But that are rare occacions because he also sim races on his days off. Just recently he was doing a 24hr sim race (in a team) where he did his last couple hour session, ending just 30 mins before his actual F1 race, which he also won.
When Max has the helmet on he is incredibly ruthless and has quite a short fuse. Once the helmet is off he becomes a different person- about as aggressive as an overcooked noodle😭 he is quite shy and very sweet
He's very agressive on track; but I wouldn't say short fused, he's usually very calculated and intelligent about it; even when it looks very agressive.
from this video you might think that they all hate each other 😅 almost every race it gets tense on track but once they are out of the cars and the adrenaline goes down, they are at the very least respectful colleagues. most of the time. And you can find different relationships between the drivers: genuine friends who hang out outside their job, pr friendships who have fun in front of the camera, teammates who don't like each other, teammates who can't be serious when they're together, childhood friends turned enemies, enemies turned friends and so on. Max is a very sweet and down-to-earth person. You asked about his relationship with other drivers and for me 4 of them stand out. Lando Norris: great friends with Max. Daniel Ricciardo: former teammate, can be classified as Max's work bestie, very funny together. Lewis Hamilton: once a biggest rival, mutual respect, and recognition of each others brilliance. Charles Leclerc: a story of its own, a short version - they were fighting against each other for most of their lives, hated each other as kids, now friends making jokes about the past. sorry for a long comment, hope it helps😂 and pls do more f1!
3:11 The abbreviation DRS stands for 'Drag Reduction System'. The driver manually opens a horizontal part of the rear wing (in this case the part where the letters Honda appear) to reduce air resistance and thus achieve a higher top speed.
Max is Dutch so he says what he thinks, alldo he's born in Belgium but raised in the Netherlands by his dad Jos Verstappen who's is also a F1 driver.Max is just here i am so deal with it!
GP is his engineer Gianpiero Lambiase. He's been Max's engineer since he joined Red Bull as an 18 year old in 2016. The engineer is usually the only person to speak to the driver on track. And yeah Max and GP kinda have a legendary status as a driver/engineer pairing these days. Partly due to their old married couple bickering and joking on the radio, but also because they're just a damn good pairing who know each other inside out. And as much as they bicker sometimes, they absolutely love each other. Both have claimed that they don't want to work with another person GP calls Max his little brother :)
Max has a good relationship with Norris, Albon, Gasly and Ricciardo. LeClerc and Max are childhood rivals but they are okay now. He also has an opposite personality than Hamilton. Both drivers respect each other. Max can be furious at any driver in the heat of the race. But after the race he will calm down. Only if a drivers shows stupidity and runs a away with excuses, it will take more time.
Flat Spot = Braked too hard and locked the tires. Tire will have litteral flat spot which will cause the wheel to lock in that place more often under braking, which will make the flat spot worse. This causes vibrations in the steering wheel and entire car which can cause all sorts of problems. DRS = See @Mandje2002 's comment. 😊 Box, Box = Short for Pitbox, telling the driver to come into the pits. GP = Max's race engineer (Gianpiero Lambiase) ; the person he's in constant contact with during the race for strategy, car settings, etc. DNF / DNS / DSQ = Did Not Finish / Did Not Start / Disqualified. Stint = A run on one set of tires. A minimum of two sets of (different compound) tires are mandatory every race, unless a race is declared wet. Undercut = Pitting (Boxing) earlier than the competition in order to have fresher (faster) tires and have a chance to overtake when the competition pits. Overcut = Pitting later so you have fresher tires near the end of the stint. Hope this helps. You should probably watch next race in Hungary. I think it'll be a banger! Greetz from the Netherlands.
The guy in pink is Ocon. The context to that was that he was already lapped by Max, which means you are way behind. When a car laps you, you have to get out of the way and not interfere. It rarely happens that a car wants to unlap himself, but because Max was on old tires and Ocon on new he was faster than him for that little period. So he tried to unlap himself. But if you are a lap behind you cannot interfere with the cars that have lapped you, so he would have had to do a clean take over. But instead he took all kinds of risk like he was actually fighting him for position. Max didn't expect that at all (and he shouldn't have to). He was on for a great result and Ocon was just being stupid and took him out. When Max confronted him, he just laughed it off in his arrogant manner, which of course didn't sit well with Max to say the least.
Box or boxing is going in for a pitstop or going back in the garage. And he is talking with his engineer who sits on the pit wall, Max his engineer is GP.
Max is actually a very nice guy btw. He definitely has an on track and off track persona. Off track he's quite nice, funny, down to earth and even very sweet at times. Though he's also very much a no BS kind of person. Very honest and straight forward. In a way that makes a lot of people uncomfortable at times😅
Having followed and been a fan of Max for the entirety of his F1 career, I can give you the details on all of these. Buckle up, it's a long comment. But I love F1 and love explaining F1. The guy Max is talking to is Gianpiero Lambiase, affectionately known as GP, Max's race engineer. Formula one drivers tend to stick with their race engineer throughout their career and Max and GP's relationship is somewhat iconic in the sport First clip: Box box means come into the pits. There is a painted box on the ground for the driver to park his car in to be serviced. Box box is distinctive and unique and can only mean pit. In that clip he was on a qualifying lap that would have seen him start the race in the lead. however, a certain amount of fuel must remain in the car after each session for testing by the scrutineers. Completing the lap and the cool down lap would not have left him with enough fuel for the test and he would have been disqualified. So the team chose to start slightly further back over starting dead last. A costly mistake in today's tight completion. The quote tacked onto the end of that clip was completely unrelated. That was team boss Christian Horner speaking in criticism of another team lobbying for regulation changes that would help them solve problems other teams, mainly Max's team, had already solved but they couldn't. Hence Christian was saying, if you have a problem, change your car. 2nd clip: Formula One cars are extremely sensitive machines when it comes to vibration. The most common cause is a brake lock up resulting in a flat spot being worn on the the tyre, that thuds a million times a minute. Another common problem is a wheel balance weight came loose or fell off. Formula One cars are also incredibly stiff, so the smallest vibrations start to affect your vision in an already violently bumpy cockpit. Camera technology these days smooths a lot of it out for us, but last year they introduced a new helmet cam and you can really see what the drivers go through. Where the frustration lies here is the engineer is not listening to Max and being dismissive. Your driver is the guy in the car.Listen to him. He gets paid the big bucks cause he knows what he's doing. 3rd clip: Red Bull had an agreement within the team that a specific driver would go first in a given situation or at a given circuit, I believe they just took it in turns from round to round. Max's teammate at this time was the driver supposed to be going first, but he decided he didnt want to. The punching a hole referring to the slip stream he would have given Max through most of the lap being that close, likely resulting in him achieving a lower qualifying position. So of course, Max was a bit miffed. 4th clip: The DRS, drag reduction system, is a mechanism activated by a button on the driver's steering wheel that opens a flap in the rear wing to reduce drag to aide in overtaking. It can only be used in certain areas at certain times. At that time, Red Bull was the top team and on the way to establishing dominance. The DRS mechanism should be simple for their mechanics to keep in working order. But for a couple of races in a row, they had issues with it. The same button deactivates it that activates it, or, it deactivates when the driver brakes. In this case Max was activating it but it was getting stuck, and after pressing the button a few more times, it activated and deactivated again quickly. A team like Red Bull should be on top of something like this and had already had a couple of failed repair attempts to fix it, hence his frustration, as minor mistakes cost races. 5th clip: A push lap is a lap simulating normal racing conditions to give the team data for the race. Slower cars, be they on an out lap or cool down lap, are supposed to move out of the way and off the racing line and let the other driver pass unhindered. In this case the orange car decided to take the corner, bringing him to close to the pushing Max. This upsets the airflow hitting the front of the car and they cant get accurate data, costing them time and putting pressure on the team to run the program again and rearrange their programs for the session. Drivers can be penalised for impeding, it matters that much. Clip 6: Not only was Max taken out, but a large area of the gravel was the same colour as the tarmac and he drove into the gravel intending to rejoin the circuit thinking it was tarmac. Clip 7: Max is a prodigy, no doubt about it. He does things he is constantly told are impossible or wont work. Well on his way to being the greatest. This was again another example of the engineer not listening to the very capable driver which almost had him eliminated from qualifying. Clip 8: Max was trying to start a push lap and the other driver stayed in his way the whole time and just didn't see Max. That driver has a reputation for being bad and has mindlessly collided with other drivers before. Luckily this was during a practice session and not the race. Clip 9: The rear tyre failed at one of the fastest sections on the entire F1 calendar. Max was leading the championship at the time and in first place in this race too, just like the last clip. It had happened once before that season. The issue was knife-edge balanced tyre pressure to improve tyre wear. Red Bull had to do a lot of unorthodox thinking to win the title that year and finally break the dominance of Mercedes and when things like that worked, they paid off big time. Clip 10: A highly controversial incident in the most heated season in recent years. I believe Max was entitled to more space than Lewis gave him. The large orange curbs on the inside of the red and white curbs are considerably higher and known as "sausage curbs". They are intended to deter drivers from corner cutter but they have been proven extremely dangerous numerous times. in this instance, Max's left rear wheel hits the curb directly, launching the car into the air and on top of Lewis' car. Similar curbs at the same track launched an F2 car sever meters into the air and over a tyre barrier. The incident would have been a lot less violent had the curb not been there and they would have both likely continued with minor dame if any. Clip 11: Qualifying is done in three parts, five slowest cars eliminated in each of the first two parts, leaving the top ten for the third part. Usually they get two laps One "banker lap", a good lap to get a time on the board, and a final lap where you give it absolutely everything and when you cross the line that is it. The rules are you must slow down if there is an incident on track that results in yellow flags, therefore if you're on a qualifying lap your lap will essentially be ruined. That was Max's last chance to secure pole position for the race, and the driver in front of him who had already set the fastest time, crashed on his second lap, resulting in a red flag and no more time for drivers to attempt another lap. Max was made even more angry because his sector times were showing he was going to have the fastest lap. Drivers leave it as late as possible to go out for their final lap as that is when the track is at its most optimal as far as temperature and grip. The downside is you risk another driver ruining your session. Clip 12: This was early in the race, grip conditions were low, and the other driver went too deep into the corner and hit Max, putting that big hole in his car which completely upsets the balance of the vehicle for the rest of the race and makes him a lot slower, wile the at fault driver was relatively undamaged. To make it worse, the driver that hit Max is also the director of the Grand Prix Driver's Association. As far as giving each other space, the rules stipulate that a driver must have his front axle in line or in front of the other driver's front axle to be entitled to space in a corner. The passing driver must be either alongside or in front, have total control of his vehicle throughout the pass, stay within track limits, and not make contact with the other driver. Clip 13: Max was in the lead of the race and the championship in an already close competition. The pink and white car was in last place and trying to unlap himself. That driver is not known for courtesy and was recently fired from that team effective at the end of the current season. And while technically he did not have to yield for the race leader if he was unlapping himself, the gentlemanly thing to do would be not to ruin the race leader's race.
The visiting the dentist is actually very true. Racing Formula cars with slick tyres, especially F1 cars, go so fast over bumps in the track that when the tyres vibrate, they can actually loose fillings from their teeth due to the vibrations. Its not uncommon for that to happen at all. Max is a legend already. Hes just 26 and already 3x, soon 4x world champion. 63 victories already, the records from Lewis Hamilton aredefinately going to be broken IF he stays in F1 long enough"
Max is an open book; on track an absolute killer, intimidating and all, but actually a really nice guy off-track. Nice guys finish last in racing, and don't mistake Max his aggressiveness for temper; it's all very calculated; the guy is super intelligent and self-reflective, don't let his chill personality fool you.
You should definitely react to more GP x Max radios lmao GP's name is Gianpiero Lambiase and he is Verstappen's race engineer (he talks with max during the whole race). They are often bickering and going back and forth but its always respectful and sincere. People often say they have an old married couple type of relationship because they might bicker, fight, etc but at the end of the day they want the best for each other. Its a beautiful relationship
Formula 1 is driving on the edge, it’s absolute topsport, the adrenaline is high 50-70 rounds long and they’re all going for it. Max and Lewis Hamilton have&had the best cars, so they are fighting for first each and every round. And overtaking in the corners is going okay 7 out of 10 times, but those 3 times one or both are lucky to get out of it without problems. The ranting (cursing) by Max is a Dutch thing. We curse in English and don’t really understand that it’s not normal for native speakers to curse that way. But we do haha 😂 The Dutch say what they think and do what they say 😅
I think every fan of formula loves the interaction between max and his engineer GP, they are a powercouple! I see someone else already suggested FORMULA 1 CARS, EXPLAINED FOR ROOKIES WITH MAX VERSTAPPEN !!, probably one of the best videos to see if you're new @mert
For leaving space, if 2 cars are fighting and you have a nose length level with the next car at the apex, the general rule is you leave a cars width on entry and exit and dont push the other car off track
DRS stands for Drag Reduction System. The cars have a rear wing which is angled to push the incoming air upwards, forcing the rear tyres into the tarmac and gaining grip, essentially the opposite of an airplane wing. This is good for cornering but bad for straights, because the air crashes into the wing and slows the car down instead of smoothly flowing around it. Using DRS, they can straighten the wing up, allowing the air to pass around it and gain top speed, but obviously losing the effect of the tyres being pushed into the ground.
9:00 LeClerc had driven pole position time the lap before. But Max was about to overtake it. With the collision of LeClerc the qualification was red flagged (=stopped) and all drivers must abort their lap. History had shown that some drivers do this on purpose to protect their pole position. In this case i do not believe it, but no one can prove it
I really like your channel, you have some great videos! But i have to say, you can pronounce the s in his name just like a normal s. So just Verstappen not Vershtappen
Both Lewis Hamilton and Max have a grudging respect for one another, but it can get frosty between them at times (like every time they're on track...😂) as they have history as tital rivals in 2021. It was an epic season and they clashed quite a few times. 😮
2:27 Here Max was not being the nice guy. The reason he didn't want to overtake his teammate was because he wanted a tow during qualifying(A tow is basically a hole in the air which is produced when the car is driving in front of you). So that tow would have made Max drive faster.
Fiesty is why I like him so much, uncompromising ruthless mentality on the track. Some of the incidents require a lot more inside knowledge, so can't blame you for wondering what is going on.
9:50 everyone needs to leave 1 car width gap if the other car is side by side to them, so on the situation with George Russel (the Mercedes) George should have left him more space
7:02.. those cars cost millions. 1 tire could be worth like 10k.? idk man exspensive sport... it has happend more then once yes.. i dont think Max made a mistake, its just that the tires get so hot sometimes or yea maybe there was a little pebble or anything super small on the track, that could blow out a tire.!
I think it would be smart to react to „formula one cars explained for rookies (with max verstappen)“ and „ formula one explained for rookies“ by Cleo Abram that u maybe understand a little bit more about the sport! :)
He's very good friends with Lando Norris. They both won't drive for the same team because your teammate in F1 is your biggest rival. And this would ruin their friendship. He really does'nt like Ocon. But then again, many F1 drivers don't like Ocon. In 2021 he had a big rivalry with Hamilton. They both could become World Champion. That year was the most exiting year in F1 for me. It came down to the last race! Verstappen could win his first title and Hamilton is 8th. They did'nt like eachother at all that year. But you have to be a little bad to win the Championship. So both we at eachother's throat (not literally!) that year. 😅 Now they are not the best of friends but they respect eachother.
They can make these rage videos about almost any driver, to be honest. But since the Dutch dont really have a filter when they speak its more drama this way.
"Why do they have so many mechanical problems? " 😂. Well no matter how expensive, if you hit someone or something, it is likely there is going to be damage at those speeds. As far as technical failures go, these cars and their components are tested, but where in a roadcar these levels are almost never reached in real life scenarios, in an F1 car they approach the stress limit all the time. But it is important to to mention that major engine swaps etc are limited, with fines and punishments in place if you need an extra swap coz it puts you in and advantage having new parts vs other drivers. So yeah things still break😂, part of the game.
4:20.. i think Max and Hamilton dont go good together.?!! they have had many close battles and many crashes 8:05 you can see one example here haha i don't think these dudes like eachother whahaha 9:05. i think he dont like that Russel guy either L0L 9:35.. giving your fellow drivers "space" is only for safety reason as you might notice they are driving like 350 KM/H
Hey I have a great video for you to watch it's called 'max verstappen trauma dumping for 5 minutes and 27 seconds straight' it shows how max got his anger issues and how he became this good

Drivers leave it as late as possible to go out for their final lap as that is when the track is at its most optimal as far as temperature and grip. The downside is you risk another driver ruining your session.
Clip 12:
This was early in the race, grip conditions were low, and the other driver went too deep into the corner and hit Max, putting that big hole in his car which completely upsets the balance of the vehicle for the rest of the race and makes him a lot slower, wile the at fault driver was relatively undamaged.
Clip 13:
Max was in the lead of the race and the championship in an already close competition.
You should definitely react to more GP x Max radios lmao
GP's name is Gianpiero Lambiase and he is Verstappen's race engineer (he talks with max during the whole race).
7:59 *"Hungary Iconic Moment":*
@3:34-3:44 lol
9:00 LeClerc had driven pole position time the lap before. But Max was about to overtake it. With the collision of LeClerc the qualification was red flagged (=stopped) and all drivers must abort their lap. History had shown that some drivers do this on purpose to protect their pole position. In this case i do not believe it, but no one can prove it
Don't teach him to write the name so wrong like that, Leclerc
It’s Leclerc
I really like your channel, you have some great videos!
But i have to say, you can pronounce the s in his name just like a normal s. So just Verstappen not Vershtappen
I think he is confused with the German Max Verschtappen
The guy in pink is Esteban ocon
Both Lewis Hamilton and Max have a grudging respect for one another, but it can get frosty between them at times (like every time they're on track...😂) as they have history as tital rivals in 2021. It was an epic season and they clashed quite a few times. 😮
DRS stands for Drag Reduction System
There are a few max and GP videos to react to :D
About Stroll ……..
2:27 Here Max was not being the nice guy. The reason he didn't want to overtake his teammate was because he wanted a tow during qualifying(A tow is basically a hole in the air which is produced when the car is driving in front of you). So that tow would have made Max drive faster.
I totally love Max. Hes hilarious but also no one's fool. Theres no BS with rhis guy
This is how dutch people are on the highway as well
Fiesty is why I like him so much, uncompromising ruthless mentality on the track. Some of the incidents require a lot more inside knowledge, so can't blame you for wondering what is going on.
the same person involved with so many accidents and always someone else to blame :)
Watch a f1 race and a lot of your questions are going to be answered 😂
9:50 everyone needs to leave 1 car width gap if the other car is side by side to them, so on the situation with George Russel (the Mercedes) George should have left him more space
7:02.. those cars cost millions. 1 tire could be worth like 10k.? idk man exspensive sport...
it has happend more then once yes..
i dont think Max made a mistake, its just that the tires get so hot sometimes
or yea maybe there was a little pebble or anything super small on the track, that could blow out a tire.!
Him not liking Ocon is not really true. They had a spat in 2018, but have long moved on. They seem to get along fine these days.
Boxing means getting the car into the pitbox.
4:20..
i think Max and Hamilton dont go good together.?!!
they have had many close battles and many crashes 8:05 you can see one example here haha
i don't think these dudes like eachother whahaha 9:05. i think he dont like that Russel guy either L0L
9:35.. giving your fellow drivers "space" is only for safety reason as you might notice they are driving like 350 KM/H
yeah box is the pitt
More max verstappen
with the tires Pirelli fucked up !!
Hey I have a great video for you to watch it's called 'max verstappen trauma dumping for 5 minutes and 27 seconds straight' it shows how max got his anger issues and how he became this good
Max has a hot temper from his father Jos Verstappen
That guy in the pink is French. So yeah
box is the pits and he is talking to GP his race engineer
box is take a pit stop
red flag so that lap has been nutralized that is why he got so angry when leclerc crashed
But it's VERstappen and not verSTAPpen.
Everbody hates Ocon
😂
Max is the kind of guy that when he is winning, he doesn’t show any emotion but when he isn’t winning, he acts like such a child.
learn about F1 before you react to this.
I really enjoy your video's. Thanks mate! @saskiawood is right about watching the f1 cars explained for rookies with max verstappen.
