- McConnell Air Force Base’s 22nd Air Refueling Wing conducted Exercise Lethal Pride, March 27-31, 2023. The exercise includes approximately 100 McConnell Airmen deployed to a tent city, demonstrating their ability to command and control aircraft in a deployed and downgraded communications environment.
McConnell began its week-long exercise with an elephant walk and flush with it fleet of KC-46 and KC-135 aircraft. The elephant walk gained its name from the nose-to-tail taxiing of many aircraft, reminiscent of elephants marching nose to tail.

Very impressive...I will always regret never flying in the cousin of the KC 135, the B 707. I hope the KC 46s serve as long and well as the Stratotankers. And yes, I am now humming Baby Elephant Walk!
I noticed this going on from my place of work, which has a good view from the west.
Very impressive. I would like to know if they all had a full fuel load on board? Thanks for posting.
I was wondering if the cargo door latching issue has been fixed on the on the KC-46
Why wasn't KC-67 Stratotanker II considered.
I’d bet that if you watched long enough. Someone would pull out to pass. So when was the 46 excepted into service? I kind of thought it was still in testing for boom and sensor problems?
They have been in use since 2019, even with all the issues.
Cool, and yet neither of these birds are capable of competing with the KC-10's.
The KC-10 "Extender" is set to be retired ..... SOON!!!
😭😭😱😱🤬🤬
Why does the -46 have an air refueling port? What situation would require that?
To increase the range of the tanker. There wouldn't be any other reason.
@MrArgus11111 Then why wouldn't the full, replacement tanker, with a fresh crew, take it's place on station?
