My husband and I and our 10 year-old daughter plan to move to France by summer of 2024! We have lived in the US all our lives, but with 20 years in the Air Force behind us and our desire to raise our child in France (something my husband and I have wanted for quite some time, too!), we were so happy to find this channel. Such a warm, welcoming family with so very much in common with our situation; it's a big leap to take and it's wonderful to know others have managed it successfully! Thank you Raina, Jason, and Juliana!

Good on you to follow your hearts! Great timing to find your channel as I recently read that more young US folks are choosing to live outside US. Fingers crossed that they find your channel.

Thanks for sharing your journey with us. It would be great if, at some point, you could share the specifics on how you are maintaining yourselves like whether you work remote or live off of your investments.

Really good for you guys to do that and not breaking your marriage. Making this big decision and happy together. Me and my husband believe that you guys are real, and willing to see behind the obstacles.

Petit coucou d'un nouvel abonné de Sarlat.
Et chapeau à vous, je serais incapable de faire un tel saut, à ma décharge, je suis né en France.
Question qui n'attend pas forcément une réponse : un retour à la source est il envisageable pour vous.
Continuez de bien profiter des instants présents ( version made in France )

Love the channel which i only just discovered and for a change relatively early on. Hope your all happy and your daughters settling in at her new school. She's at a perfect age to learn a new language, in no time she' be speaking French like the locals and running circles around her parents. hope your family enjoys France, its a country brimming with great food and culture.

Good to have you in our country. Welcome . I hope you enjoy our way of life and the quietness in our rural areas. it is peaceful and nice.we definitely have '" qualité de la vie ", not running around for stupid things and I think it's gold . your daughter is becoming fully bilingual and your are learning too. Welcome and love from an old Frenchman. is Julianna happy in France, new school, new language, new friends etc..?

I liked your 'doing it now-ish', instead of waiting for... retirement? And making a plan. Bit I can tell you, if you really want to change your life/moving abroad, you can do it on short notice, for me it was 3weeks😀

I have to congratulate you for your positiveness, your curiosity and your adventurous mind. What I apreciate a lot is that you always try to understand the rationale behind the French way of life and don't stay at the surface of the usual stereotypes. It's very refreshing to see you.

J'ai un cousin, c'est l'inverse, il est parti à Houston pour ouvrir une pâtisserie il y a plus de 20 ans et il n'est jamais revenu en France.

Probably because he could make beaucoup money compared to better priced goods in France! Americans will pay a premium for a great pastry!

I understand, I was transferred to Houston and I could only do it for 3 years. We loved The Woodlands but commute was horrible.

Oh man, yeah that's one of the worst! Second only to 290 West out to Cypress, but it's finally finished now and better I've heard. Houston has such a great food and art scene, plus lots of cool people, but the weather...it's like living in a humidifier!

Congratulations on your courage and taking the plunge! It’s amazing how you don’t know what you’re missing until you do it! I do agree the European (+UK) perspective is different, we realise money is required to give you freedom but as a sole goal it is limited and it also encourages a very unhealthy mentality where the worth of a person is solely measured by how much money they have!!
By the way, what are you doing for work now? I presume Raina you are not nursing - maybe wrong! By the way nice house!!!

Hello, do you have any advice on where to start the move from the US to France. And what research to do
