Geoff has helped loads of people without knowing. I bought the Fear book in 1996 and it also accidentally gave me confidence to ask out a girl who I liked in Blockbusters video store, after many days of renting out Chines kung fu movies, lol. Helped with muay thai and getting over the fear of hitting and being hit stage, and I bought the updated books for my two nephews for Christmas 2020.
"Watch my back" is the bible. I've read it three times during my 30+ years on the door and it says all that is needed to know when it comes to violence.
It's now very clear, and beautiful, that Geoff has moved on on from the brutality of his past. And though he still can offer guidance on self-protection - I wish more interviewers would ask about his spiritual journey and writing works - and this is just as exciting. 😊
I recommend you to listen to the whole interview. We talked a lot about spirituality. Here you can find it - anchor.fm/oskarandermo/episodes/EP-66---Geoff-Thompson-face-your-fears-and-do-the-work-en5jjj
Liberty. Just to throw a curved ball the British army's Unarmed combat system. Has no punches in it. Break your fingers you can't pull you gun. So boxing being the best.. ?.
yes, we did it this summer. Geoff took a long brake from everything but recently came back. He wrote two books that he is promoting. Here is his new Instagram account - instagram.com/geoff_thompson_official/ (managed by his friend but it's his official).
Geff what was it like to train with great late Gary spiers Mario karate legend be nice if you could tell us some stories of your time with Gary spiers thanks jeff
I followed geoff since the early 90s, everything he says is spot on regarding physical self defense but the metaphysical stuff is just his opinion and using unsubstantiated sources like religion, spirituality, its actually the opposite of what he always taught which is evidence based.
I think it's his Aikido training that has lead him to think the way he does now, what with that pedophile instructor having the most influence on his mind.
Difficult to say without seeing how disabled your arm is, the fence is not necessarily employed with dead straight arms. You can find a lot of Geoff's books (that'll hopefully answer your questions) on pdfdrive.com for free. Also checkout on RUclips:- "Philip Bayer Wing Chun" to see that it's possible to be world class with a disability.
Thompson's mentor john anderson advocates an invisible fence. No arms up, so as not to provoke. Still need to line up attacker and mentally decide when to hit them. Google awesome anderson seminar. Hear it from the horses mouth
@@goldface6658 hey mate, I'd suggest you rewatch the bit carefully with John Anderson: ruclips.net/video/Kry5iFP4avE/видео.html He doesn't like to stick his arm out for range finding but he does keep hands up while he's trying to talk it down
Probably because in a street type of situation people wear clothing, jackets, coats and things to grab. Like Geoff says Judokas have strong stand-up game as well as how it ends up on the ground which usually favours the Judoka. Wrestling ofcourse is something else that should be learned.
@@Sira628 Yes! Totally. Anyone that's tried BJJ, Judo or for that matter Catch Wrestling knows just how dangerous those arts are and should never be overlooked, but studied and vigorously practiced.

That's some really good, honest thoughts ......
"Watch my back" is the bible. I've read it three times during my 30+ years on the door and it says all that is needed to know when it comes to violence.
Watch my back was the reason i got into door work
I was 18 years on the door, then i was really burned out. But yes, watch my back, the fence, 3 seconds fighter, this books safed my life.
Most people in martial arts don't know martial arts, Geoff is a martial artist and truly understands it, love his videos😊👍
He is also a very inspiring spiritual teacher. It seems that this is where his focus is nowadays. He is a great guy.
Jeff was Freinds with the late great Gary spiers Mario karate legend
This man wont be popular with people in martial arts, because he tells the truth. I agree with him 100%top bloke.
Yes maybe, but he has the experience to back up his claim.
Exactly my point.
He wasn't popular almost 30 yrs ago when he started promoting these ideas. Most agree with him now due to mma.
He's extremely popular with the right people. And that's all that matters

Geoff is an absolute legend! The greatest teacher in the world currently!
Absolute master of self defence
The Master speaks.
Bruce lee would have LOVED this guy...
Can you imagine a conversation between Geoff Thompson, Lee Morrison and Bruce Lee
You forgot Chuck norris as well
Western boxing with judo as a backup. Thumbs up!

Great insight
What about boxing and escrima should i train escrima also or is it useless?
Hey there, I'm not familiar with your channel but thanks for this video! Are you able to tell me how you got in contact with Geoff please? Thanks
He was away for a while from all social media but is now being active again promoting his books.

I wonder what he thinks of Muy Thai Boxing?
He trained muay thai with bob spour decades ago and is a qualified instructor in it.
At 3:00, did he say judo as a back-up?
yes why?
@@jamietherooster I just wanted to make sure. Better start my judo lessons.

how do you defend Geoff if your fence arm is not straight , through disability , your strike arm is fine , but your fence arm allows them closer

Why not muay thai and judo ? why boxing is considred more usefull in self defence then muay thai ?
