I remember when the Eshop was something unique. It was an actual experience in of itself when you went to buy or get something. It was always so cute to see a physical representation of the games downloading with the data being put into a little box, that gets gift wrapped and put into your 3ds menu! It may have not felt personal, but i will say it felt a lot greater when I could get a game from the Eshop and once a game was downloaded, rush to the 3ds menu like it was christmas morning to open the game i bought. I only hope the Switch 2 will provide the experience the switch couldnt.
@@mace4978 yes, but that's an unnecessarily lengthy and pointless process, since it will just choose a different theme eventually. It'd be much better if I could just choose in the menu.
where has time gone, only yesterday it was 2015, i would stay up till 11pm way past my bed time, the portable ac with it's neon blue lights blasting cold refreshing air into our desert apartment, my sibling slept on the lower bunk, I would download a demo, or purchase something if I had some money leftover, the little ehsop character would download my game while the catchy music played, and now I'm here, 6 years in the future

There is no music in the Switch’s eShop. Actually, there isn’t any music in the system at all, not even while making Miis! There isn’t a streetpass function, there isn’t Miiverse, play coins, camera, we don’t even get a simple internet browser! We have to pay for online and most of the Nintendo games are Wii U ports, Wii U sequels, or flat-out not fun like 1-2 Switch and Arms (IMO). Sure, we do get good original games, but in my opinion the mediocre outweighs the decent. The controllers are really poor quality and either lag or drift. In all of my years playing on Nintendo consoles, I have never had so many issues with the controllers... No love was put into the Switch, unlike the Wii U, 3DS, or most other Nintendo consoles. As a Nintendo fan, this genuinely makes me feel sad.
Yeah, but for some consumers, especially young adults, what your describing can be seen as childish. So they focused on the game aspect more than having Netflix or other things on it before games. But now that it's popular they should add some more of the little things.
I mean yeah, I get that some things were bad but as a Nintendo fan. I think they did a good job with the switch the switch was an extremely radical way to do video games so obviously they had to compromise on certain things, the file layout couldn't allow shop music or mii music so they had to compromise. They wanted to do something new I mean if they had StreetPass, most likely it almost would've been just another 3ds and that was all they were doing for years. So they had to be different in a radical way and that leads to certain restrictions. So you cant expect them to give everything of course that would be nice. Also, we got awesome games like Super Mario Odyssey, Mario maker 2, Animal crossing new horizons, Pikmin 4, Smash brothers ultimate, Splatoon 2, Pokemon lets go, And so much more. So honestly I think this is kinda invalid.
@@Sc0ttTh3Fath3r They could have definitely put SOME music in the console. Heck, even the Gamecube from 2001 had music! It’s just that when the 3DS, an old Nintendo portable, trumps this current Nintendo home console in many ways, it objectively makes the Switch look really underwhelming in comparison. They don’t have to copy what they did on the 3DS. I just want the Switch to have SOMETHING at least half as good as what the 3DS and Wii U had. Why did they even get rid of Miiverse? Miiverse turned games into communities! It wasn’t perfect, but had thousands of well crafted drawings that people could spend hundreds of hours observing! I digress. *About the games you mentioned:* Mario Odyssey is great, but is way too easy. Because of the influx in moons, they had to dumb down the challenges to keep the game consistent. However, the visuals, presentation, polish, characters, controls, and worlds are all great! If only it offered a difficulty more similar to other 3D Mario games. Splatoon 2 is basically Splatoon 1, but expanded. I find it really disappointing how one of the most refreshing Wii U games had one of the most uninspired sequels. Splatoon 1 had features that aren’t in Splatoon 2. Also, I have to pay $20 annually to actually play the darn thing... Yeah, I am sticking with the Wii U one. Mario Maker 2 requires me to pay $20 annually to actually play! It doesn’t help that the online the are promoting is laggy as heck. If that wasn’t bad enough they removed features from Mario Maker 1 for seemingly no reason. However, I will say that this version does offer great new additions and it isn’t a bad game. It just feels like with every 2 steps forward with that game, they take 1 step back. I don’t play Pokémon games because at this point the entire series just feels so played out and bland. Like, there isn’t any originality in the games anymore. Every game at this point bow feels devoid of any love or passion, aside for some of the Pokémon designs and music. Whatever though. People can like it though, that’s fine. I just don’t find the idea of buying a GameBoy remake of a game series that has always felt the same very appealing personally. Smash Ultimate... is honestly extremely high quality. I can’t really think of one thing I dislike about it! So many characters, stages, songs! It respects games like Earthbound, Mother 3, F-Zero, Pikmin, and so much more! There is so much customization! I adore Ultimate! It’s near perfect... Unfortunately, I can’t play the game with friends because of the Joy-Con drift... Really, Ultimate is the primary reason anyone should get a Switch! Rather than of being solely a life simulation game, Animal Crossing also tries to be a town builder game, which is never what the series was in the first place. Town building doesn’t blend well with what Animal Crossing was initially. The villagers and dialogue all feel weak. It removed so many features and characters from past entries. The number 1 most talked about thing when it comes to this game are updates... Isn’t that sad? Most of the updates are for things that were in the previous games. They are basically slowly bringing old ideas back without tweaking them and sometimes making them worse! New Horizons is so disappointing. I hope they realize what made Animal Crossing great in the first place and remove this weird 5 star malarkey and make it about forming relationships.
The Switch is my first Nintendo console, and it saddens me knowing that several years from now I won't be able to feel the same nostalgia that everyone else is feeling in the comments from their first Nintendo console's eShop themes.
Yeah, the Wii U home menu with all of the Miis running in and talking about stuff from Miiverse just oozed charm and personality. The Switch is just... so much more hollow.
It's alright Walrus. The Switch was my first Nintendo console besides the Wii, but I never grew up on the DS or the Wii U's eShops. So You're not alone with the lack of nostalgia towards these past Nintendo memories.
Rest in peace, Nintendo Wii U and 3DS. The Wii U was my childhood console, I loved playing Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros, and Minecraft on it, I remember playing with people online in battle mode, and racing against players on rainbow road. I got a 3DS about 3 years later, with my first game being Art Academy. I later got Mario Kart 7, and i still play it to this day. Smash bros was fun, seeing the different stages from Wii U and 3DS. I loved playing these games. You will never be forgotten, Wii U and 3DS.
Ill miss you 3ds Shop you brought me so much joy in my life and I couldn't be happier I was in the best era of Nintendo I hope Nintendo will bring back the care they used to have.
"December (2015)" was always my favorite theme on the eShop (48:35). It's uplifting, fits the comfy winter season to a tee and I lost track of how many times I used to boot up the eShop on my 2DS just to listen to it. Thank you for the nostalgia bomb.
R.I.P All the Nintendo eShops, Wii, DSi and 3DS and Wii U. These systems were all full of personality and made Nintendo recognizable. Thank you. Thank you for all the memories. Thank you for my childhood. Thank you for bringing me where I am now. Thank you.
June 2011, aka the OG 3DS eShop theme, is the most nostalgic for me. Awesome memories of waking up on a winter morning on December 2013, the next day after getting my 3DS and browsing the eShop to see what games I could get for my new system. Other eShop themes never hit as hard as this theme for me, and I would actually delete the extra data for the eShop every time before entering so I would always hear that theme. I did that recently too around a week ago and it just felt really nostalgic in a really sad way, knowing that the eShop is closing in March. The 3DS is honestly one of Nintendo's best systems ever made, just behind the N64 and GameCube for me.
This past year or so, I have been listening to the eShop music almost 24/7. I have countless memories of browsing the eShop late at night. I just want to say thank you Nintendo eShop for providing me with hundreds of games and videos. You will be missed 😔
June 2011 hit hard. I remember when the 3DS didn't have an eShop or internet browser. felt like it took them forever to get that out. I was in fourth grade and I got my 3DS and now I'm two years in to college. Time really flies.
Wow…. I actually still can’t get my head around that the Wii U & 3DS eShop’s have actually gone. They have been up ever since I started gaming and it’s kind of unreal and makes me heartbroken that the last part of my childhood gaming has disappeared. 💔
goodbye, eshop, in a few hours. farewell to all those childhood memories of scrolling through games I couldn't get, listening to the eshop music and watching the trailers in the eshop. goodbye to a generation.
The eShop will only live a few more days, and it is sad to see it go. I still remember downloading New Super Mario Bros. 2 while sitting on the couch in my basement, and I couldn't wait to play it. Thank you eShop for all the memories!
The 3ds eshop is definitely the best one. The memories of sitting there and scrolling through are great. Also waiting for games to download was the best!
AHHHH IKRRR, but I didnt get any money for games so I just got demos. I remember being really sad when I couldnt play sonic lost worlds anymore since the demo expired, still cant play it till this day :')
27:53 and 44:32 hit different I remeber browsing the eshop from time to time to look for demos and when I did get a game I remeber watching it download. I also remember hearing this when I bought the Mario Kart 8 DLC. Good Times R.I.P Nintendo Eshop 2011-2023 you will never be forgotten.
Before it closes, I leave this comment as a final thank you to the eshop. It served my childhood well it was a store full of like and passion filled games like no other, I still remember when it was fresh where the DSI ware Zenonia 1 was one of the few games on there. RIP, I will miss it as I am unable to visit it due to all 3ds batteries in my access, being expired.
The DS Lite was my very first Nintendo console, and while it didn't have an eShop, it did tempt me to ask for just about every other Nintendo Console that came out alongside/after it around Christmas time as a kid. The Wii, DSi, Wii U, 3DS, I had them all. Listening to the soundtracks each and every one of them brought while browsing for games as a kid is a time I can only beg to go back to, even after all these years. Unfortunately I don't have any of them anymore, just a Switch, and it just doesn't feel the same at all. The silence of not only the shop, but the menus as well, is agonizing after listening to these old tracks. It doesn't even have customizable main menu themes, which the 3DS had, even the DS Lite had livelier colors to choose from other than just black and white. How the Switch can be the single most soulless Nintendo console after almost SIX years just baffles me.
R.I.P 3DS and Wii U eShop. It sucks that things have to come to an end. Especially when the infrastructure to keep them running probably costs pennies to Nintendo...
RIP 3DS and Wii U Nintendo EShop, you will both forever be missed, and I remember in 2012 when I first got my Wii U, and for Christmas I got a Black Nintendo 3DS XL with Smash 3DS, Smash Wii U, Mario Kart 7, Tomodachi Life, Link Amiibo, Mario Amiibo, and more. The Nintendo EShop is my childhood, and I don't care what anyone says, but the Nintendo EShop music is S-Tier music! Thank you very much for all of the fun memories, and you will forever be missed as well as the Wii Shop Channel, and Nintendo DSi Shop. It's sad and unbelievable how fast time flew and Nintendo B.S.ing the close.
Oh man, I remember finally getting enough money on Christmas to buy Happy Home Designer, and sitting next to my dad while she helped me download the game. 48:35 really brings back those memories, thanks for uploading this! I had no idea that the songs cycled out, haha

4:01 will always be my favourite. If only there was a way I could revert back to this in the 3DS eShop
I just saw by scrawling trough the comment that if you delete the eshop data you can revert back to it
@@mace4978 yes, but that's an unnecessarily lengthy and pointless process, since it will just choose a different theme eventually. It'd be much better if I could just choose in the menu.

OH MY GAWD- I love this so much, I can so remember this-
There is no music in the Switch’s eShop.
This comment should be read more.
I think they did a good job with the switch the switch was an extremely radical way to do video games so obviously they had to compromise on certain things,
the file layout couldn't allow shop music or mii music so they had to compromise.
I digress.
*About the games you mentioned:*
Mario Odyssey is great, but is way too easy.
@@Sc0ttTh3Fath3r Just going to quickly correct you on this, Pikmin 4 doesn't exist.

The Switch is my first Nintendo console, and it saddens me knowing that several years from now I won't be able to feel the same nostalgia that everyone else is feeling in the comments from their first Nintendo console's eShop themes.
Sorry dude. Those wee some good times on the Wii U, when me and my friends would spend the whole day playing Mario 3D World, Sm4sh, and Mario Maker.

You're telling me that 4:01 wasn't the only music they had on that eShop? It's the only one I remember and it's so old, what the heck?
