Spargo - You and Me (2018 audio) • TopPop

'You And Me' was the debut single by Dutch disco-funk group Spargo, fronted by band members singer and keyboard player Ellert Driessen and singer Lilian Day Jackson. Released early 1980 it reached #1 in the Dutch Charts in April that year and held the #1 spot for 4 weeks, ultimately becoming the best selling single of the year. Other European countries followed suit with ‘You And Me’ reaching the top spot in the Belgian, Italian and Surinam Charts. It was rewarded an Edison Award for Best Single in 1980.
In 2013 'You And Me' was voted 'Best Dutch Disco Classic’ by VARA TV Magazine.
In 2018 the original track and a remix by Ellert's daughter Jazzi Bobbi entitled 'Spargo vs Jazzi Bobbi - You And Me (Remix)’ featured in a Vodafone commercial.
This is a 2018 remix of the original version of ‘You And Me’ that you can find elsewhere on the TopPop channel.

Acá en Chile fue un hitazo a principios de los 80s, yo era muy pequeña, vivía en la ciudad de Antofagasta en el 81 y un año después me trasladé con mi hermano y mis papás a la capital (Santiago) y sonaban harto en las radios FM de la época, incluso había un cassette que mi papá lo compró que se llamaba "Número 1 en todo el mundo" que incluía este éxito de estos holandeses que sonaron no solamente en Chile, sino en Perú, Argentina 🇦🇷, Ecuador, entre otros países sudamericanos

@@Sool101 Tjee MaiTai (female nog wat) was erg dik gemixt mede door het creatief gebruik van de compr/lim op de master. De technicus van Spargo heeft erg vakkundig gebruik gemaakt van noisegates/procesors, dat hoor je in de snelle afkapping van basedrum/snare en percussie en een Bbe op de master denk ik. Ben erg benieuwd of jij kan ontdekken wie zulke goeden oren heeft...en zeker ook de mix van MaiTai. Die klonk zelfs nog goed op een Hema cassettebandje
