  • This is the second in a series of how things work. This will focus on a few of the wayside detectors. You may see these things along the tracks and wonder what they are. Well, wonder no more!
Wayside detectors look for many things and I'll go over them in this segment. Hot wheels, bearings (journals), dragging equipment and high or wide loads can all cause problems from damaging other wayside equipment to derailments if not detected in time. This equipment id designed to minimize that risk.
As always, I will stick to the basics and not get into the circuitry or any information that may divulge any corporate secrets.
So, join me for a look at some wayside detectors.
