I am shocked by the criticism of some RUclips “experts”! Sure, Music is subjective and preferences are inevitable but Miss Netrebko’s rendition does not deserve such severe words hurdled at such great and accomplished talent. There’s a reason why we don’t build monuments for critics. And there’s a reason why Miss Netrebko will continue to shine. She may realize she could improve some aspects of her performances but her very public process will keep us in wanting more... I wish amazing karma to Anna Netrebko!

Bellissimo!! I wept. Anna Netrebko is my favorite soprano! Turandot is my favorite opera! For those who aren't familiar, in this aria, Liu is being tortured to reveal the Prince's name (Calaf). She loves him passionately and refuses to betray him. Immediately after the aria, she snatches a guard's knife and kills herself rather than expose her Prince.
Un disastro.Avendo visto l' intera opera con la Netrebko.Punti critici:L’incipit dell’aria di Liù, in zona centro acuta, permette alla cantante di esibire uno sprazzo della propria voce naturale lirica, che viene artificialmente scurita e ispessita già in corrispondenza della frase “Si spezza il cor, ohimé”, dove il primo acuto, un la bemolle, è un suono duro e leggermente ballante, anche se appena toccato. L’ispessimento artificioso del centro, volto a ricercare un colore scuro che mima una voce più drammatica di quella dotata in natura, oltre che un probabile escamotage della cantante per affrontare la prima ottava, rende spesso la linea vocale dura e questo si percepisce con l’andare avanti del brano (ad esempio il “noi morrem” sul passaggio, duro e fibroso), e preclude all’interprete ogni possibile variazione dinamica musicale nella linea di canto. Gli acuti risultano migliori se affrontati piano, come gli ultimi la bemolle di “Liù non regge più”, mentre il si bemolle finale mostra qualche segno di durezza. I have always been a fan of Anna Netrebko. There are parts that are just absolutely beautiful in her voice in this aria especially when she relaxes her jaw and lets the space achieve the notes. Just beautiful. Her first note was a little pitchy but she corrected it in the opening line ending on the same note (any musician can tell this because she looked at the pianist for assurance on that note). I think her interpretation was a little forceful for a slave but nonetheless, it's a performance, not the opera lol. Great job! However, you should hear her powerful full rounded sound portray Turandot! She is absolutely stunning!
Actually I loved Anna Netrebko until she started to sing strained - in my opinion - , she is not a real dramatic soprano, I don't know why she doesnt notice it. In my opinion after a while it will destroy her beautiful voice, I already can hear the wobble in it. :(
She's a full lyric trying to be a spinto/dramatic. You can hear the wobble coming in. That's from pushing and singing the wrong repertoire. The darkness of her voice fool people into thinking she is a dramatic.
I have always loved the tone of her voice and her acting. But who is teaching her to artificially darken and push her voice? This is causing her vocal problems like the wobble .

I didn't see anything like that. She is a world-class singer who sings at the Met so, yeah, I think she knows the music. Be careful of sour grapes. They will not serve you well in the music profession, or any other for that matter.
