It`s interesting listening to this while looking at the sheet music. This is in my top 5 for favorite Opera Arias... I love French Opera, I love the composers, the language, everything. It`s absolutely wonderful.

I'm a girl too and can't help but agree with you. If you are watching her sing and i think on stage that counts for something (cf Maria Callas!), you hear mostly beautiful singing, especially when in company of her Spaniard full-open mouthed tenor Villazon. And her acting, which also counts during onstage performances, is credible (and at times INCREDIBLE!). It's amazing to read see such controversy over this diva.
I enjoyed Beverly Sills for decades. But she is gone. I am so happy that I now have Ann's music to enjoy in addition to Beverly's. And both were/are attractive women.

Anna Netrebko - Her stunning voice quality - Her absence of vibrato, that makes her one of the clearest and tuned singers EVER. - Her understanding of musical language and analysis capacity, that are those of a conductor (and not every conductor...) and a composer (and not every composer...) - Her humblety in front of art and in front other musicians. - Her stunning physical appeal, even more attractive after her baby. - Her capacity to provoke oceans of envy. She's unique.
When I hear her lack of vibrato here, in most places I feel and hear tension in the voice as well as less connection to her breath, which is very taxing on the voice. (I can’t remember the technical term for that feeling but it’s a thing.) This is especially evident in the “Je veux vivre...” section where there are multiple onsets close together. Don’t get me wrong, she navigates the passages well overall. She does wonderfully well given the type of voice this was written for, but it sounds like she’s trying to fit her big, warm sound into a small box that’s meant for a lighter voice... because that’s exactly what it feels like she’s doing, lol. Still a good interpretation though.
Dessay's intentional staccato, fragmented phrasing interpretation. Having also seen photos of Fleming in her current Violetta at the ROH, one can only marvel at Netrebko's resilience, endurance and commitment to bel canto opera.

I loved Beverly Sills but she is retired. I guess ignorance is bliss because I must be ignorant because I truly enjoy her voice, the quality and obviously the audience did, too. So in my ignorance I will continue to enjoy Anna. I miss Beverly Sills, but time for the next generation.
Yes I realize that Beverly has passed away but I have a lot of her CDs and I hear her as well as Anna everyday. I don't speak French so I don't know if Anna is mispronouncing French words or not. I am not surprised that Beverly praised her singing because her voice is clear as a bell and I love her no matter what anyone says. The mad scene from Puritan I really took my breath away.

Beautifull. In this aria Anna can shows her pretty, dark and sweet tessitura. I don't know if her pronunciation is bad. Simply sounds beautifull and fresh. I love too the calm expression of her face. BRAVA
Just saw her perform Juliette at the Met on their HD satellite transmission. She was really impressive, and it was clear from the audience reaction that she made an impression on people.

i think it's because finding fault in others would make ppl feel they're superior. It has nothing to do with the diva but with the fault finders.
