When John started his part and Paul stood there, saw and heard him it brought some youthful energy into him again, you can tell by how he starts hitting his notes! I can only imagine how much Paul misses John.
That’s really something when John appears on that screen, playing in sync with his partner in the greatest songwriting duo in popular music history, across a span of 53 years. Amazing.
I had the opportunity to talk with Paul's live sound engineer Pab before the show in Baltimore in June; that segment is so extremely rudimentary - only Abe had a click track in his in-ears for that whole song and Wix had some control over the tempo; I'm assuming with a tap pad or something to adjust the BPM. The rest of the song's performance was guided through the stage monitors. That's the only cue that Paul had. What a testament to how tight he and John were (and how tight he, Rusty, Abe, Wix and Brian are) that after all these years, all he needs to sync up for a live performance of I've Got A Feeling is John's isloated vocals from 1969.
Who has imagined before that 80 years old Paul McCartney sings Rock’n’Roll with 28 years old John Lennon in front of a huge crowd !! Young like granddaughters & grandsons are singing along I’ve got a feeling!! This definitely is MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR concert!! Long live Paul please ! Thank you !!
Yep I grew up with the Beatles and saw them when they made their debut on Ed Sullivan when I was only 5 years old watching that with my whole family and my older siblings . We grow up with the Beatles and always had their music in our house they were just a part of our lives . Makes me glad to see that he and Ringo have made it to live to be 80
@@bls8959 "Ya he sounded rough" no, not for an 80 year old, that's far from rough. He's definitely struggling, mainly during the bridge (AWAWAWWA lol), and of course he doesn't sound like he used to, but that's still better singing than most people will achieve in their lifetime. I'm sorry, it sounds _good._
Paul's work ethic at 80 is quite an inspiration. A 3 hour set like that is not just 3 hours on the stage--there were a lot of hours of rehearsals with the band to get some quite complex music (including this one) up to performance standard.
I can’t help but get emotional watching this. I’m the same age now that Paul was when he sang on that rooftop, and I’m a musician because of the Beatles. I even got to play on a rooftop unsanctioned by the authorities (wonder where the boys and I got that idea ?) and I also have some friends that I used to play and sing with that are no longer here with us. I can’t even imagine what Sir Paul was feeling when John popped up on that screen. Thank you Paul, for being my inspiration to become a bass player, a songwriter, and thank you Peter Jackson for giving the world the opportunity to hear these two sing together across time and space. Just stunning.
So sad I missed that show - I had an Hawaiian vacation planned for over a year and considered changing the date (at great expense) just to see this at Fenway.....I am jealous
I guess music keeps him preserved. It's nice to see such power at that age.I ponder that as long as one keeps up with good music, poetry and art in general, these can work like a life's elixir for most of people.
Me and my boyfriend were crying our eyes out. This is so bittersweet and cute. Even after all these years they have chemistry and I feel Paul perks up when he’s duetting with John
This has always been a really fine song... and to see John Lennon singing with the wind passing through his hair... young, cheeky and talented as he was, made me sad and gave me pleasure at the same time...
John ❤ I am not one of those cry-babies but I think I would have started crying when John appeared on that screen. I miss his voice. Musically and socially.
If I was Paul in that situation, as soon as John appeared on screen I would've broken down into tears in front of the crowd with my brain flooding of memories with ny best friend before he passed, I wouldn't be able to keep the show on no matter how hard I try. Props to Paul for being able to hold it in
Most important and beautiful televised event I have ever seen in my life. This needs to be available in full on RUclips not just iplayer, its literally fucking history.
My kids and I listened to this everyday when it was first uploaded. They call it “John on the screen.” I love how much Paul seems to enjoy playing with his old friend again 🥹❤️
I love Paul with all my heart. He is living legend and a very nice human being. It´s absolutely incredible that he is over 80 and he is still rocking! Long live Paul! I´ve got a feeling, yeah!!
John has to be one of the greatest musician and writer of all time. With Paul alongside him. That was a powerful moment. John was and still is truly great. His voice and the Beatles music timeless I think that retro microphone is better…
It's great to see Paul and John sing together, if only through the magic of technology and the challenge of synchronizing live and video in front of an audience. I wonder what John would have said about this? I guess it would have depended on his mood in the moment. Of course, there would be no need for this if he was still alive. The sadness of that loss still lingers.
I can only say "wow". I know his voice is not as good as when he was younger or when he was 50/60 years old. But, He is 80 years old and for me his voice is too good for his age.
I saw him in Syracuse last summer. When he did this I absolutely loved it. The whole time I just could not believe I was seeing a Beatle with my own two eyes. I was seeing the guy who wrote “Let It Be” sing it in the same room as me. I’ve seen a lot of concerts, I rarely get star struck. I did that day.
Paul is still at the top.. Age means nothing when you have talent.. Rock till you drop Paul old fruit... Having John on screen behind you gave me goosebumps.. That's the effect you and the band still have on us fans.. Incidentally before I go.. The first single I bought on 7 inch vinyl with my own pocket money was hello goodbye.. In 67. I first saw the Beatles when they were second on the bill to Acker Bilk and his trad band when I was a teenager living in Liverpool…..I’ll be 80years old next year. Feel I was so lucky to have been there then ❤
Icon. What a life, what a legacy & still doing it at 8, his music relevant with nothing left to prove. He really has changed the world with this music and I often think about where we'd be without the Beatles coming along.
I really want to see Julian Lennon, Dhani Harrison, Zac Starkey and James McCartney all come together and sing some Beatles songs. They could cover their dad’s parts I think that would be really cool I’d definitely wanna see that
Read the comments before getting to Lennon's part so I thought I knew what to expect and it didn't matter because I still teared up.🥹 Also I love George's riff and Ringo's drums in this song and I check to see if Ringo is back there too. ☺️
