The penguin novels are amazing and fairly true to the stories of the Assassins. They don't cover Desmond's story though but are more thorough then the games at telling the each individual assassin story and it puts the events in Assassins Creed 2 in chronological order as well as flushing out Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad's full story.
AC3 was a bit of a let down and for a lot of people, the beginning of the fall for the series into generic. AC4 might as well be a separate pirates of the Caribbean game with Assassin's Creed in the title. There was no present day connect between the person you inhabit and previous stories and from then on, the present day stuff became less and less relevant or entertaining. Somehow they made the French Revolution boring and Syndicate was just...not good juggling between 2 very bland main characters than 2 and playing too safe by not portraying anymore historical characters as villains because they didn't want to "offend" still living descendants.
Excalibur01 see I actually find ac3 and syndicate to be one of the better ones. For AC3 I felt it was more real with how they handle the story and the character. And it by far has one of the best combat and gameplay mechanics in the series. And with syndicate a lot of people actually really enjoyed it. It was definitely a good new take on the ac series. As much as I do love the Ezio trilogy, I have to admit he is kind of a generic character, despite being how well he was written, and didn’t really relate to him as much. And revelations being kind of a let down
This is nice and all, but you failed to mention why AC4 did so well. It was because after AC2, most people were rather turned off by the now formulaic combat and lack of enemy types, combined with a plot that just got more and more convoluted (Revelations and 3 weren't nearly as positively received as you make it out to be). Not to mention the fact that they were all released with some pretty glaring bugs. Rogue's state on release was not a surprise because it was broken, but just _how_ broken it was is what caught people off-guard.
@4:40 we control a Templar for the first couple of Acts in Assassin's Creed 3. Haytham Kenway was a Templar who fathered Connor, an assassin.
Brotherhood is, and will always be my favorite in the series:)

more than a history, this is like "chronological order for the games video "
a underwhelment to see you didn't include a mention of Desilets's departure, as the quality of the series gradually went down as he left
The climbing got better, but the stories got worse.
You guys forgot to mention the 1938 novel Alamut by Vladimir Bartol which was another inspiration for the Assassin's Creed franchise.
Sweet history!
what i like about this game was that it always ended on a cliff hanger
Guys have all of the various assassins throughout the series fight each other it would be amazing
Woooooooow

The video is amazingly professional and I like the idea, but it becomes a bit of a list rather than a narrative. Maybe a little too objective?
Wait don't you be a templar in ACIII?
How about the uncharted series
Mario warfare 2 plz
Pls more Mario warfare pls Mario warfare 2

Disliked, because Assasin's Creed sucks. First one looked interesting, but others… typical Ubisoft conveyor produced crap.
Rem Shy Have you played them?
Rem Shy your silence is answer enough

This would be so much better if it didn't watch like a textbook.
If I was that interested in the release schedule of games I could just use Google.
