Yeah I'm fairly sure season 2 will start after a time jump and have Aang learning water bending in that time, so he should start season 2 at the same stage of water bending as season 2.

Personally, I fine the tv series okay, regardless of how they left most content out. A lot can be fix with the show overtime in s02 and s03, but I also remember its not cheap to make these and the director/s have a budget to work with.

Yeah. General consensus is that she’s the least favourite in team avatar.
Personally I don’t think katara was fully bad. I just think she was lacking a few dimensions to her character compared to her animated counterpart. She definitely still had good moments in my view.

The reason why sokka snd katara went in the cave and not aang is because there children and i would be weird

Yeah I expect that's why they made it Sokka and Katara, that and the story in the Live action. If you watch the original animation you'll see it has it as Aang and Katara go through the tunnel.
