This wasn't actually a planned segment at all. After losing two matches to Soly and Neil, Ben was sitting in a Runza in Missouri, absolutely defeated. He looked at DJ and was just like, 'Deej, what if we just...went bad?' A month later, Soly sees a video being uploaded and processed on the RUclips channel. He checks the Slack and sees an unread message from Ben:
    "The king returns"

I have been trying to manipulate grinds, lofts, face angle, hi toe grooves, open, closed, high, low.
The simple idea of leaning "down and up" and through with the strike instead of "letting the club do the work" changed turf interaction more than anything I've ever tried.

Just goes to show you that even a plus-2 handicapper can duff shots, and needs a coach to help get more choices and direction for his short game. The hard part is finding a good coach that will actually help you and not string you along just to make more money. Cheers.

subject is a v good golfer but his weakness is obvious- he just gets in his own way by being way too neurotic and overthinking everything. results in him being obviously tense, overswinging, being fidgety (notice his reaction on misses, just gets way too rattled). its like hes obsessed w optics and results rather than the process.
and while i like the coach i think shes not a good fit bc she encourages the analytical approach which is good for feel players but not for neurotic types. i think all the player needs is more casual feel-based practise-to take off his hat, wear normal runners, and just casually hit around the green not caring about results and experimenting w different positions and letting the ball teach him. the more intuitive and relaxed hell get, the better the results will be. bryson's recent coaching content is a good eg of the type of instruction that would work well for him.
