Halfords advanced tools are spot on. You can get them for extremely reasonable prices if you get them in sales like black Friday and pair that with a trade card. They have always got the job done for me and if they ever break you just pop into halfords at your soonest convenience and get another for free. Very hard to beat that.

Excellent video, really enjoyed the comparisons of Snap On and Halfords. Totally agree with your conclusions. You would be mad to Let me anywhere near a aircraft engine! But for what I do, Halfords is perfect.

That was a fantastic video. I switched most of my stuff to halfords pro a few years ago and have no regrets for all the reasons you mentioned. I've got the older 200 set, and you are right, they have cheapen 'd the socket bits a little. But the saving grace is that i believe the new ratchets have more teeth, so win some lose some. Great vid, great banter.

Yes - SALE is the most under rated thing from Halfords, I got my 80 piece reduced from £100 to £50 and then had a British Cycling discount voucher / code that then gave me a further 20% off so I felt I robbed them when I went in there and spent a small amount and walked out with a truck load of Ironware!

Great video thanks, I own multiple Halfords sockets sets, old 170, 200, new 200 plus the through thread set which I think are great, but I still use my silverline spanner set for most things as the thickness as you say can get in the way. Basically US Pro / Nielson or Halfords Pro will get me fixing most things. cheers

i am only 7 mins in after RUclips recommended this, i will watch the rest later on my next break however i thought i would just type this, i have worked on cars for over 20 year now and 90% of my tools are now halfords professional advance all bought by myself and i love them yes i have my cheaper what you call knocking tools that are used shall we say for things they aren't designed for and hit with hammers regular (got to love those rust seized hard to access nuts on cars lol) i have never had to return a single halfords tool under its life time guarantee (touch wood lol) and would tell any one on a budget that wants something to last give them a try.

Good honest review. Like u I have a good mixture of tool brands. The Halfords ratchet is short and I have a long ratchet on the shopping list. Might splash the cash for a koken.

On set, (I work in tv) amongst the chippies, Festool is the Snap-on of woodworking tools, and anyone seen with anything less was laughed at. I was very happy with my Ryobi kit, but to fit in with my peers I wrote 'festool' on the side of my kit with a sharpie. I think I got away with it as no one ever borrowed from my bag, out of respect I guess.

Good video - in my opinion halfords advanced fit in a good position, quality is better than cheap unbranded and even cheaper branded tools (e.g. Draper, Stanley), but way cheaper than expensive brands you mentioned like Stahlwille, Facom, Hazet, Snapon etc. Good for DIY mechanics like myself who don't want to waste time with bad tools that can get you into trouble rounding bolts etc. A relative has a bunch of similarly priced stuff from Clarke (Machine Mart) which also looks OK but I think I prefer my halfords kit to be honest. The modular trays are brilliant I have almost a complete set now excluding the pliers and screwdrivers where I think there are better choices (Knipex and Wera respectively) as anyone working at home will use those a lot.

I work as an agricultural mechanic and all of my sockets and spanners are Halfords except the big stuff (34-50mm) none of my Halfords tools have let me down yet

facom manufactures the ratchets, sockets and spanners for halfords i think.

Ross, I love this video. I should do a walk through of my bicycle workshop at some point and do similar. Infact I will. Yes agree the Halfords stuff from the ADV/PRO range is excellent and that lifetime warranty so worth it. You do indeed get what you pay for, I have the smaller ADV/PRO 80 piece tool kit and sockets and it does most of my cycling needs. The cycle industry is FUBAR as they create their own tools, fittings and standards of craptigrade quality and no reason and then a couple of decent tool manufacturers like VAR or old "original park" might actually perfect what should have been made by the manufacturer originally before it becomes obsolete in a couple of years! Hope your keeping well, TT

When it comes to french well obviously " Facom " but its easy to see why snap on offer such latitude on their replacement policy ? because of their exorbitant pricing in the first place ! if they are so good how come they ever brake the first place! they charge so much so as to pay the reps to come round in a van , ! The first company to do that was KAMAZA, \Snap on tools break , they justify the price paying guys to go round pro workshops.
