  • Gratings are optical elements that rival lenses or mirrors superimposed with a precise pattern of microscopic periodic structures. These can be used in a wide range of applications, spanning the UV, VIS, and IR spectra. They find homes in absorption and emission spectrometers, fluorometers, liquid chromatography, astronomical telescopes, tuning lasers, and even in manipulating laser pulse duration.
Craig Hanson of MKS/Newport provides fundamental insight into diffraction gratings, shares knowledge on selecting the right grating, explores accessory options, and dives into seamless subsystem integration. He also unveils the extraordinary capabilities of Newport Richardson Gratings, shedding light on the company's unique manufacturing process.
This webinar caters to optical designers, engineers, research scientists, and purchasing agents who are interested in mastering the process of diffraction grating selection and integration into their optical systems, and anyone who works with astronomical, biomedical, laser manufacturing, semiconductor, plasma physics, or spectroscopic technologies who wishes to further understand how to integrate diffraction gratings into their work.
About the presenters: Craig Hanson is the product manager for optical components at MKS Instruments in Rochester, New York. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from the University of Utah. He started his career in the photonics industry, supporting optical filters and coatings more than 20 years ago at CVI Laser Optics. Hanson has served in roles ranging from sales, application engineering, marketing, and product management.
Throughout his career, he has expanded the depth of his product knowledge of optical materials, optical components, and a variety of coating technologies.
