As for players at his position that were outstanding, Wilt certainly had several great players of that era to compete with, with the most obvious being Bill Russel. Just effortless and completely within the flow of the offense. No unnecessary dribbling around the perimeter or dominating the ball. Just a scoring machine and a defensive stopper. In a way it's almost like watching a role player. Except his role was to make ridiculously tough shots and to score nearly half his team's points in a playoff win. Simply the GOAT
In this series against the Cavs, Gerald Wilkins was being proclaimed as the "Jordan Stopper" which is all the motivation MJ needed to make him look silly. MJ prevented so many fellow NBA superstars from winning championships by winning all of his Finals appearances.
U cannot get enough of this stuff. The guy is just memorizing to watch. U ask anybody there who did they come to watch?. They all will say Michael Jordan. Lol 😆. He's amazing and that's it.
A man who is 6'6. So athletic. Has a smooth jumper. Post moves. Great defense, better offense. Plus High basketball IQ. I say that hes a Shooting guard that has a built of an all around Small Forward. I say, that might be the recipe to be the best player.
BassStudent4life Wtf? He wishes that he was Still PLAYING Today... how is dat hating Michael , He wants (and we all do , but its impossibru) that michael was still playing in the nba, lol
MrGuilherme213 when you love someone you want them to thrive not fail, anyone who wishes mj was still playing today, secretly hates him. Be real people, who do you all think the guy is, clark kent or something. Just stop it already, the man aged. leave him be.
BassStudent4life Yeah , i know , Mj was the greatest , and if ur a fan of course u want to see him to continue playing, We know its impossible , but it would be nice to see him back in his prime , The man has 50 yrs old or something , so we all know he cant play anymore , but watching his old matches makes us (or atleast me) want for him to play in the nba again :P
For you kids that think that there are better players than MJ, thank God for youtube, here's the proof. Thanks for the video, bring back memories where there were no HD, ugh, but we still loved it.
Every time I watch a old bulls game I react as if the game is live lol I love the bulls so much and love watching them play even when they are struggling #BullsNation #SeeRed
whats up michael man your such an insparation to me...i know you probly hear this every day from people to people but i had brain surgery in 2005 of may nd i am truly your biggest fan i am amazed about everything youve done and i was nervous to go threw with the surgery but to never give up attitude u had impacted me to go threw with it and everything whent great and life couldnt be better...thank u michael for being you!
Remembering this so well shows my age I guess. But I can remember, in the hype leading up to this series, Dominique's little brother Gerald Wilkins was being called the "Jordan Stopper" in the national media. I'm sure he didn't want to be called that, because he had to actually step in on the court against him and back it up. Jordan torched him all series long, which ended in a game 4 buzzer beater on "The Jordan Stopper" to move on to the next round. Jordan always tried to prove a point in game ones of a playoff series to set a tone. He did so in this series.
I've been studying MJ lately... one thing I've noticed is that he is such a quick thinker and very clutch. Its like every move, shot, dunk, layup ect... is done In the fearlessness of failing, I think he wasn't afraid to fail and if he did he just would work harder, he would test his skills and abilities whenever he's on the court and we all know any athlete moving crazy like he did his entire career with zapping motion is trying their absolute best, and he seems to enjoy that, Very Interesting.
The more I see the games of MJ and lebron or anybody else, the more i realize how stupid it is arguing who's the goat. Nobody is even close to MJ in his prime. LeBron is bigger in size of coz, but prime MJ? he's much tougher and stronger. proof? just see the defense.. see how physical the game was. look at all the handchecking and how they use their elbows and arms.. mj was dominating in that era with all the crazy stats. Magic confirmed he's the goat and Bird said he's the god. End of story!
LeBron who? The only people that needed to be reminded what kind of an unmerciful scoring athlete Jordan was are perhaps the new kids that saw Jordan play with vivid memories. Any grown man in his 30s (and up) should know what's up.
Daniel Zimmerman you...... are.... A genius! !!! Kobe is great kobe is 100000% the player. Can clutch and win a game by himself! And, and doesn't take 40 steps and cry to refs
Lmao Jordan always knew how to attack a defense. Fundamentals are so lost in today's game that why it's so hard to watch. The NBA use to be a game where guys KNEW how to play both sides of the court. Players today are just coming in to young and are not fundamentally ready to endure the aspects of an NBA game. Look at Dwight Howard for example, he has been in the league for 11 years and still has no POST game. He is as big, strong, and athletic as anyone would want in a center, yet in 11+years he has not developed into the player he could be. Dwight Howard alone proves that being big, strong, and athletic doesn't mean jack in the NBA, you still need to know how to PLAY the game. I think Lebron can be one of the greatest players ever, but he lacks a post game as well. He can go to the hole like no other, but if he had a consistent post game and jumper he could be off the charts good. Could have listed off more examples, but I wanted to keep this as short as possible. Agree or Disagree?
Gnev Gnok Agree. You summarized the reason why today NBA games suck. Lack of fundamentals and proper training hence the importance of spending times in college. Never seen any coach being so frustrated in NBA with the lack of basics and skills.
It's the defensive rule changes - changes like that have lasting impact on a game that go far beyond "no handchecking". Teams and coaches have learned to take advantage of those changes in every way possible. For example, today you have no need to play with your back to the basket both on the perimeter and to a lesser degree in the post. And so no need for post up moves. And with the league going Moreyball, these changes have ushered in this little guard driving the lane, collapsing defense and dishing to 3 point shooters only style of play - like you, in my mind, eliminating all the other areas of the game especially on defense has hurt the NBA and basketball in general. Kids not only suffer from no college but even at the AAU and even sometimes high school level - they are simply not taught everything like 20 years ago.
As a couple folks pointed out, the key difference between LBJ and Jordan is LBJ can be shut down. The Celtics proved that in the '08 East Finals. The Warriors proved he can be guarded one on one in this year's finals. Like a few folks said already, people were TERRIFIED to guard Jordan and THAT's what makes him the GOAT. Even without stepping on the court, his rep alone unnerved alot of people. THAT is the difference between him and LBJ: You get on the court with Jordan and your mind instantly goes to "What's he gonna do?" Jordan can tell that much from the guy defending him at a glance. LBJ, not so much. In LBJ's case it's "What do I counter him with?"
+Brendan Aurabolt Man The Warrior knew the ball was going to Lebron so they based they're defence around Lebron. You should know that. I Jordans era no team could afford the benefit of switching theyre whole defence arpound Jordan because they whole team could score. Lebron had no team when he played The Celtic in Finals in08 and he definitely didn't have a team when they faced The Warriors in the Finals last season. Do you know anything about basketball guy? Dayum. I know you got on glasses but Stevie Wonder can see that.
+Kwame El-Bey Blinkered.....absolutely blinkered, so what you are inferring maybe without realising it is that all the players playing with Lebron are not as good as the players Jordan played with. You are also essentially saying players today in general are not as good as they used to be in Jordans day.... then saying this is why the Warriors could shut down Lebron as they could go for "just him"... but if you read between the lines here your argument goes like this... "players today arnt as good as they used to be, Lebron is better than Jordan because a team had to shut him out to win the Finals...they couldn't do that in Jordans day".... the flip side of that is "Michael Jordan isnt better than Lebron and I will prove this by saying Michael played with and against better players than Lebron plays with today and he dominated at that time...."... which defeats your own argument and proves what you said makes no sense at all. You might as well just delete your comment.
Everyone was talking about the impending Bulls-Knicks matchup in the '93 ECF, but the Cavaliers were supposed to pose a great challenge for Chicago in these semifinals. They had actually won the regular season series over the Bulls 3-2, winning the last 3 games against after losing the first 2. And Chicago was struggling down the stretch of the regular season, including losing to both the Cavs and Knicks, their 2 biggest Eastern Conference threats going into the playoffs. Playoffs show up, the Bulls destroy Cavs in a sweep, then after losing first 2 at MSG, go on to get a sort of sweep against the Knicks winning 4 in a row to go back to the Finals.
I don't have a problem if Kobe wants to copy MJ. But he needs to give MJ credit. Someone asked Kobe who he patterned his game after and that turkey said "Magic Johnson". His style doesn't resemble Magic Johnson whatsoever.
The problem with Kobe is that he copies 90% from MJ. Other players only copy aspects of others players and use it to their advantage, which is fine but the fact that Kobe is literally copying all his moves and mannerisms just pisses me off. If you are to be a good basketball player, please at least be a unique and not a bad copy of someone else... :/
No one will EVER be like Mike!!!!! After His Airness stopped playing I did not watch the NBA for years. The Greatest player ever!!! Will never forget that last shot in the sixth championship game.
(4:23) Let's not forget - Gerald Wilkins brought that attitude on himself saying before the series that he was quote "The Jordan Stopper".....Michael was just responding to that shit.
I remember an article in sports illustrated about a fantasy camp where rich dudes pay to play with legends. a businessman was guarding mj, and someone on the sideline yelled, "guard that guy!." the business guy yelled back, "guard that guy? that's Michael fucking Jordan! I imagine poor craig ehlo still has nightmares about Jordan. funny thing is that ehlo was an excellent defender.
Are you serious? Did you notice there was a cavs player right in front of him when he jumped? Actually, a big guy. Jumping high and quickly was a good way to prevent the defenser from trying to do anything. As you can see, he just stood looking. Besides, you trying to say whether Jordan should jump high or low? Geez..you gotta be some player. Way to go, Magic.
When MJ is in a zone there is nothing you can do about it. He will abuse and own anyone. Virtually unguardable. I love how he would out quick the double and triple teams. Amazing. He got everyone's best effort and still dominated.
The move at 4:30 is ridiculous. And if you notice Mike's shooting hand he had a very bad wrist injury as well as a finger injury that year. Yet we never hear about it cuz he never made excuses.
just noticed that MJ drives in without much support from teammates, he can really penetrate inside with his footwork, smart moves and hang times. Kobe may have the same killer instict with MJ but, MJ is more skillful and smarter.
He can be guarded but not stopped. Guarding is just not letting your matchup to get passed you. But you don't need to get by someone one in order to score. That's why there's a fade away, hook shot, and post moves. Stopping means keeping them from scoring.
Double team? I shoot over it. Double team? I run around it. Double team? I jump over it. Double team? I eat it. Double team? I shit it out. Double team? I wipe my ass with it.
Michael just floats when he moves while everybody is stumbling to keep up with him. He makes it look so easy and he looks like he moves in slo-mo. Perfect use of space and the dribble to weave through the lane. The other guy that reminds me of how he moves is Dwyane Wade. They just weave thru the defense except Wade hasnt develop that perimeter jump shot as consistently yet.The GOAT!
Oh man oh man I miss the early 90s. I remember it was so obvious that the Bulls would cruise through the first two rounds , we would start watching them on the conference finals and the finials only. The NBA logo should be replaced by the physique of the GOAT. He was made for the sport.
Michael Jordan is the best ever. I've never seen anyone with his mental ability. He had no fear! He was clutch! He could win a game with offense or defense. Amazing player, and I've seen most of the greats.

C- Lew Alcindor/Kareem Abdul-Jabbar - 25/12/5/2/5
PF- Charles Barkley - 20/15/5/3/3
SF- Julius Erving - 20/8/5/5/5
SG- Kobe Bryant - 35/8/6/6/3
PG- Allen Iverson - 30/6/12/6/1
(numbers after names are: Points/Rebounds/Assists/Steals/Blocks)
With the following players able to be put in, based on subjectivity-
Jerry West
Karl Malone
Jason Kidd
Bill Russel
Moses Malone
Bob Cousy
Gary Payton
Isaiah Thomas
Anyway, try to be a little more objective, you guys sound like there's only one right answer in this sometimes.. and it's all just speculative fun!
Its crazy how much heart and drive MJ put in his game and craft. Set the numbers aside and just witness. GOAT
He's so smooth and light on his feet. His for work is like no other
the whole team couldn't guard him
Just effortless and completely within the flow of the offense. No unnecessary dribbling around the perimeter or dominating the ball. Just a scoring machine and a defensive stopper. In a way it's almost like watching a role player. Except his role was to make ridiculously tough shots and to score nearly half his team's points in a playoff win. Simply the GOAT
The greatest of all time.
Is Wilt
i love it when new fans see mj highlights for the first time and theyre like wow-
That the baddest cat to ever play basketball so damn smooth
Just a different level right here
In this series against the Cavs, Gerald Wilkins was being proclaimed as the "Jordan Stopper" which is all the motivation MJ needed to make him look silly.
Deviant Perfect body for this game.
I could watch this man play basketball forever. Timeless.
i wish he was still playing in the nba
why, do you hate him or something?
no?
Greatest EVER! It was such a pleasure to watch you Michael. He just made it look so easy, maybe it was to him.
A very organized video!
Really miss watching MJ playing...
Michael, the only player that can consistently play and beat 5 defenders.
👍
Allen Iverson did it to Shaq's Lakers.
@@Johnkoth the key word CONSISTENTLY, A.I. did that in one game
whats up michael man your such an insparation to me...i know you probly hear this every day from people to people but i had brain surgery in 2005 of may nd i am truly your biggest fan i am amazed about everything youve done and i was nervous to go threw with the surgery but to never give up attitude u had impacted me to go threw with it and everything whent great and life couldnt be better...thank u michael for being you!
jordan was the fastest leaper in nba history
+ashtonjackfanny the speed and height was unmatched
He was at his peak in 93. Athleticism along with the good mid-range game.
End of story!
man, they were playing some 90's style hand-checking D, and MJ just powered through all of it like he was playing in the 2010's
LeBron who?
The only people that needed to be reminded what kind of an unmerciful scoring athlete Jordan was are perhaps the new kids that saw Jordan play with vivid memories. Any grown man in his 30s (and up) should know what's up.
MJ ? Wilt Chamberlain existed BTW.
@@QankoIvanov
That's not in doubt.
Superman Michael.
Is it possible to watch a mj video without people bringing up Lebron
Classicgaming101 unfortunately no.
Classicgaming101 Not a comparison in my opinion. Two totally different style and position players. Jordan is still the GOAT.
Michael Williams Couldn't have said it any better
Daniel Zimmerman you...... are.... A genius! !!! Kobe is great kobe is 100000% the player. Can clutch and win a game by himself! And, and doesn't take 40 steps and cry to refs
Daniel Zimmerman he would only have 1 if ray.allen didnt save him
A crossover with one hand on the ground..never saw that before and I think I never will
Lmao Jordan always knew how to attack a defense.
Agree
Gnev Gnok Agree. You summarized the reason why today NBA games suck. Lack of fundamentals and proper training hence the importance of spending times in college. Never seen any coach being so frustrated in NBA with the lack of basics and skills.
umberto smith - who posts up in GSW? More importantly, who has post up MOVES on GSW?
3:31 that was just beautiful how fast and high he can elevate
Watching Jordan play, you just see how easy he played the game. Even some of the best players don't make it look that easy.
easy and smooth
Jordan was a terror in these days. Literally unstoppable.
THAT is the difference between him and LBJ: You get on the court with Jordan and your mind instantly goes to "What's he gonna do?"
Jordan can tell that much from the guy defending him at a glance.
You might as well just delete your comment.
atnighthawk THIS TOO LONG MAN CMON
+Kwame El-Bey Short version: you defeated your own argument.
Kwame El-Bey
Unlikely. Also +1'ing your own comments is lame.
Jordan is the GOAT.
It was lovely being in the Chi during this time. Thanks Mike!
Holy shit when mike would do a jump shot I saw Kobe and thought dam Kobe steals his moves
You're 100% right. Kobe copies all MJ's moves and mannerisms.
Nothing wrong with learning from THE GOAT
I don't have a problem if Kobe wants to copy MJ. But he needs to give MJ credit. Someone asked Kobe who he patterned his game after and that turkey said "Magic Johnson". His style doesn't resemble Magic Johnson whatsoever.
***** Ok, thanks. I'll look it up.
Michael Jordan is the best
Best of all time period
6-0 nba finals
fritz horton
You couldn't said it better.
what about the years they lost before the finals?
RUMPELSTILTSKY
They aren't the only ones that lost before the finals.
your-sisters-lover
Indeed. He lost to some great teams, but no one can't take that from him.
RUMPELSTILTSKY nba finals is the only thing that counts
Haha no flopping no crying , pure basketball from the GOAT , hope kids see this and stop saying lebrick is the best !
I'm a lebron fan and knows it's blasphemous to be comparing lebron to michael.... he first has to surpass magic to get to jordan
Bird too
David Im Surpass magic to get to Jordan, lol this is not a video game.
Robert Garcia it ain't a video game but its basically a fact. Bron is at #8 or 9 and dudes comparing him to the GOAT
He has to surpass kobe before u can even mention Lebron and MJ in the same sentence
Malav Barot Exactly. For me LeBron is 8 or 9th all-time. can't believe dudes say he better than the GOAT
His skill set off the charts in his prime
3:47 do u really have to jump that high for a layup !??
I don't know that Michael knew any other way to jump! lol
Way to go, Magic.
that's why they called him "AIR" Jordan
When MJ is in a zone there is nothing you can do about it. He will abuse and own anyone. Virtually unguardable. I love how he would out quick the double and triple teams. Amazing. He got everyone's best effort and still dominated.
The move at 4:30 is ridiculous. And if you notice Mike's shooting hand he had a very bad wrist injury as well as a finger injury that year. Yet we never hear about it cuz he never made excuses.
The goat forever MJ
the way he can hold a basketball like a tennis ball is crazy
The BEST to ever play this game
look how smooth jordan was. many of these he could have just flushed so hard with a monster dunk...... elects to do a smooth finger roll. #goat
No one is even close to this guy. He is the best of the best
just noticed that MJ drives in without much support from teammates, he can really penetrate inside with his footwork, smart moves and hang times. Kobe may have the same killer instict with MJ but, MJ is more skillful and smarter.
Cleveland looked like they weren't even trying. You can tell that they just thought, "There's no point in even guarding him. He's unstoppable."
like they say....the only person to ever stop Jordan on the court is Dean Smith & the Laney High Varsity coach
and Charlie Sheen
As far as the title is concerned - 100% correct!
MJ the greatest... period!
He can't guard me. No one could guard him
Exactly.....lol
Y'all be sleeping on the bad boyz
Gerald Wilkins ... the media dubbed him the "Jordan Stopper". MJ didn't take too kindly to that
He can be guarded but not stopped. Guarding is just not letting your matchup to get passed you. But you don't need to get by someone one in order to score. That's why there's a fade away, hook shot, and post moves. Stopping means keeping them from scoring.
Allen Iverson is unguardable, Michael Jordan is unstoppable.
After watching Kobe's highlights I'm watching this.. And I'm just shaking my head. This guy is a maniac..
The most agile athlete I've ever seen....
im going to be 32yrs old this summer .. man I remember when I watch jordan vs magic...early 90s prob 91' .. my fav kicks are the black6s
effortless
Simply the GOAT
lebron doesn't play like mike... he's (LJ) boring to watch.. unlike the GOAT.
my thoughts exactly boring as
One word....UNSTOPPABLE....
Jordan is the G.O.A.T period!
Miss this era of bball. The Bulls are my team!
3:47 Damn MJ is up high!
MJ is the Goat past present even future hall of famers still compare to this guy and no one comes close!
There was regular season MJ, then there was Playoffs MJ. Beast mode.
Miggz JLV So true. Every playoff series, you knew he was going off.
MJ was ahead of his time. Athletic freak compared to everyone else at the time
he doesn't just go to open drive. he makes one. he drives right then left to make his opponent piles up in the middle where they cant move. hahaha
Oh man oh man I miss the early 90s. I remember it was so obvious that the Bulls would cruise through the first two rounds , we would start watching them on the conference finals and the finials only. The NBA logo should be replaced by the physique of the GOAT. He was made for the sport.
