Monday: Tuna Sandwiches, Dinner: Minestrone Soup + Baguette
Tuesday: Lunch out (News show) Dinner: Pizza
Wednesday: Pesto Pasta Dinner: Split Pea Soup, corn muffins
Thursday: Fresh Mozzarella, basil, tomatoes, tuscan bread Dinner: Deconstructed Pepper Casserole (From Temecula Mom Blog)
Friday: Tabouli, hummus, pita, greek chicken Dinner: Sweet and Sour Chicken and rice
Saturday: Yogurt Marinated Chicken legs, Harvest blend, Brussel Sprouts
Dinner: Sandwiches
Sunday: Bean Burritos Dinner: Beans, Salsa, Chips

We go to Trader Joe's, Costco, and Target in this video. We also buy a few things at our local grocery store called Lincoln Market.

Amber, my understanding is that when bread is kept in the fridge, it actually dries out faster than if left out on the counter. The moisture in the bread is lost. If you can find room in the freezer for what you will eat the second half of the week, you'll be golden. I could never do what you and Marc do. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the advice! Yes, it does get a bit dry. We do usually freeze the baguettes. I learned that from Marc’s grandmother in France.

Your grocery shopping is so interesting. I have visited NYC twice, and I found their food so much fresher and such a variety. The water is also very good to drink (at least that is what I was told). We live in Texas and cannot drink our water; and sometimes we get notices to boil it and add bleach to clean dishes, etc. Who would have thought that NYC is healthier in a lot of ways other cities are not. God bless your entire family!
Thank you!❤️🙏 Yes! I was also amazed by the water when we here! Back in San Francisco we couldn’t drink the water either. I think even though NYC is a very urban situation, it is surrounded by a lot of wilderness where the water is nice.
@@TheHappyCaravan NYC has excellent water quality. Your kids might be interested in researching the historical and modern NYC water system. You could likely arrange a homeschool group tour of part of the system for a group of older kids.
Municipal water and wastewater treatment are good fields of employment and there are many varied jobs one can do.
Yes! Marc is looking into what is available here. His work history is in sign fabrication so he might try that first.
You all have so much energy! I get tired after a trip to one regular small grocery store (I forget what it was like when I was younger though) 😊

I have sort of a rough monthly goal for the meal planning but I should make a video about it. It also of depends on what is happening that week. Sometimes I resort to hotdogs if it’s a busy day!😅❤️

Yes! I used to just kind of wing it in the grocery store but I always ended up throwing food away. We are at a point where we need every dollar to count so I have to plan. It is a pain to plan it out, but when the day comes and I know what we’re making it helps us not stress out so much.

This made me smile as I was preparing and chopping all my melons for the week as I was watching this! Watermelons are fantastic in the UK 🇬🇧 at the moment! We don’t get a long import season but now they are plenty!

Hi! When you space, freeze bread then thaw on counter the night before it’s needed. Fridge prevents mold but also stales bread. Big family, do what ya gotta do, right?!!! 😊
Yes! We do that with baguettes sometimes. I learned that from Marc’s grandmother in France. In France they have bread that goes stale very quickly.❤️
I would be interested in a meal prep video where you plan your meals for the week and make a grocery list ., could break down the cost of meals etc

Do you ever go to the Aldi there next to Target? They are the sister store of Trader Joes. I think 2 brothers split the 2 store chains. I can't remember the details. But Aldi is based out of Germany. It has some great German foods , especially at Christmas. And they follow the European standards of not having all the chemicals that aren't allowed there (in their store brand things). Many of their items are the same as Trader Joes but repackaged. And Aldi is significantly cheaper. They have a fantastic gourmet cheese section, lots of organics too.
The Aldi next to the Target is really small unfortunately, sort of like a 7-11. I would love it if we got a normal sized one! I see a lot of people get great deals there!
I love watching your grocery halls. However I would love to see some videos of you home schooling the children. I'm a retired public school teacher as well as retired home school Teacher home schooling my daughter along with my sister's grandchildren. I did That's with a variety of children 4 The total of seven years. Now I end up tutoring my sister's great grandchildren. Please show some videos of how you home school.😂
Wow that’s so cool you are using your teaching skills with your own family! Their math program is online (it’s called “Aleks”) But for other subjects the older ones use used textbooks we found online at Amazon or Rainbow Resource Center. I love Spectrum workbooks for the younger ones because they seem to cover all of the bases. I use explode the code currently for teaching early literacy. We also have a ton of books around because I want the kids to have choices in reading so they aren’t so tempted to turn on a screen. I can do a video about it too!❤️

I loveee goat cheese and the Costco price you can't beat...among other things I make a "dip" cheesespread type thing with goat cheese, add honey, toasted almond slices and dried cherries and serve with crackers of choice (I personally go for the trader Joe's fig and olive or crunchmaster ones) soooo good, the honey takes away from the tartness of the goat cheese

I see so much you purchase at Trader Joe’s that is so much cheaper at Costco. They have so much organic too. I love TJ, but for the things I can’t get elsewhere, but Costco beats everybody on basics. The mushrooms, mozzarella, seaweed, almost all produce, brown sugar, flour, all available there.
Yes, I’ll have to look for that. Our Costco is on the small side. I see other people’s Costco hauls and they get lots of things I haven’t seen. I definitely find a lot of the produce to be a better deal. Some of the reason I buy stuff at TJs is because we just have one fridge, but if it can sit in the drawer we have plenty of space for those things.❤️

I’m not that far in and should probably wait until the end but only one jar of pasta sauce? Am I missing something? We are a large family I don’t think I’ve ever bought one jar of anything🤣🤣🤣 I think we need to know how you stretch this stuff. Help us
It’s for the stuffed pepper casserole from the Temecula mom blog. It’s a great casserole because our whole family is full after it! It also has tomato sauce so it stretches a bit.

It’s from free people. I love It because i can wash it which is nice because sometimes the kids walk around with my hats and they end up on the floor😅

Curious how you keep all the kids from picking up extra items not on the grocery list? What does those major ground rules look like for a family of 10 kids in a store all at the same time? Even as an adult I sometimes find it hard, wanting to toss an unnecessary item or two in.
I have a really careful list for all the meals planned out (it takes hours lol) so that’s easy for me to stick to, but I do tell the kids that they can pick a few snacks so the shopping trip still seems fun.

Yes, but it’s a little expensive here, plus you are expected to tip so we save money by shopping.
Oh that makes sense! In Australia my groceries delivered are free (usually free for big shops). Such a shame it’s not the same in NYC considering how hard the parking is for you guys! Love your videos. I made your Lamb Korma on one of my recent videos - so yummy!

i never buy banana at trader joes they charge 25c for each one. do they charge like that at that one
I’m not sure, I think Marc got them for a snack in between the two stores. Usually we buy them at Costco.
Brown Sugar = Sugar + Maple Syrup
Sugar plus molasses! In the south we just keep molasses and canesugar and make the brown sugar in batches

I'm a homeschooler and in Italy every year we have to do an exam Is It the same in NYC? And if the Kids get into Juliard Will they stop being homeschooled?
Yes, we take exams midway through the year and at the end of the year too! Pre-College Juilliard just teaches music, so we do the other subjects at home still.❤️
Oh in Italy we only have One exam. And in two weeks i have a very important exam, middle school exam. I'm a Little scared.

Almost one thousand dollars a week
Well we spent 250 at Trader Joe’s and 450ish (I forget the exact number) at Costco so I think it’s closer to $700 ish.
And neither work 😮
Marc is trying to find work and I work as a content creator. I spend a lot of hours editing videos, so it’s still work even if it’s at the kitchen table.
