Sam, another interesting race. When I saw the weight to power ratio, I could have guessed at the outcome of the race. Honda really needs to up the horsepower of the Accord before including AWD in the Accord.
Why, the Accord isn't a race car, it's a family vehicle, at least that's what it's geared toward. Why wasn't the Civic Type R in on this race. That's what you buy if you want more power and handling.
@@Theyralltakenfu yeah never understood this lol. Not to mention the k20c4 is underrated from the factory. They dyno regularly in the 240s which has it around 280ish to the crank, 30hp more than what Honda rates it at. It’s plenty for a daily sedan. If you want more power just type r turbo swap and tune and you’ll be 350+whp all day long. But they aren’t race cars, just really solid daily’s that are kinda quick.
I paid 29k cad for my 2018 fusion sport brand new. Honda never went lower than 34k cad and I went to 6 dealers. Liked the accord but not for the money they were asking. But in 2018 it was the first year of new model might be why.
I drive a 15 fusion ecoboost and love it! I wish I would have gotten the Sport! Would be so cool if Ford brought back the fusion sport with like 380hp and 400TQ.
To be fair, even though this Accord would smoke a Camry, Honda never intended for the Accord 2.0 to be winning all races. Otherwise, this car would've been called the Accord SI or Accord Type R. Similar to how a Camry XSE is not called the "Camry TRD line", the Accord Sport is not even called "SI line" or "Type R line". You're comparing something never meant to be performance against something that is meant to be performance. Meanwhile, Fusion Sport was meant to be performance because this was during a time when Ford had a different leadership than Ford today. Back then, they intended Sport to be the performance because the previous management, unlike today's Ford management, thought that calling it "ST" would be out of place. The reason why today, Fords that would've been called Sport are now called ST and they now use "Sport" for either a looks package or a smaller version of a car is because Ford has new management. For example, the Edge ST that came out in 2019 was just a rebranding of the Edge Sport because the 2019 Edge ST is mechanically the same as the 2018 Edge Sport. The Accord is great for what Honda intended, and the Fusion was great for what Ford's previous management intended.
The Fusion Sport was never meant to be a performance car. The Ford Performance division never touched it. When this vehicle came out, there were Focus STs, Focus RS, Fiesta STs, GT350, etc. Those were molded by Ford Performance: brakes, suspension, tires etc. The Fusion Sport literally has the 2.7 and a transmission that’s able to handle it and that’s it. Just like the Accord.
Accord weighs 3,428 if it's the touring model. Good runs tho. The Accord has about 4-500lbs advantage but not enough to make up for the 💯+ ft lbs of torque & 75 hp more in the Ford's V6 & AWD vs Accord's 4 banger 2.0t & FWD... 🤷🏻
This would have been better with the tlx type s, the major factor was the awd, if they were both 2wd it would have been a better race. still great to see even though the accord lost lol keep up the great work Sam!

I don’t think the Honda 2.0T is a standout in a market full of 2.0L turbo engines as most of them are within a few hp of each other. Standouts would be the Volvo T6 2.0L in their Polestar cars a few years ago with ~360 hp or the Mercedes AMG 2.0L at ~380 hp.
@@ghostwrench2292 Well you could have also mentioned that the 2.0L from the Volvo is *both* turbocharged and supercharged. The Accord 2.0T is only turbocharged but makes 273 lb-ft before 2000 rpm and does it all on regular gas. For it's target demographic, it's a standout imho
Yea in his first fusion sport video he even said he was had forgotten about fusion sport and eluded to the fact he was not familiar. Fusions are built on a FWD platform. I have the Ford Fusion Sport....the lawyers saw to it that any brake torque boosting you do gets squashed by the electronic nannies, and it cuts power around 2300 RPM. You CAN time it though, but a pain in the ass to do so.

Fusion Sport is a car you own if you want to be absolutely faster than your midsized sedan peers. However, the transmission, driving experience and interiors are typical Ford, which is a huge letdown.
The interior is actually great in them . The fusions were very well built . The interiors felt quality , and remember , the fusion competed with the 2013-2018 honda accord and the 2014-2019 camry so in comparison year for year the fusion was actually on par if not better in terms of materials. I do agree with you on the transmission , but it was only a let down when trying to do quarter mile times which no one ever does with a fusion . The fusion with the 2.7tt v6 is a family car with extra power. They were also very quiet. Only let down id say when comparing it against the camry or accords was the reliability. Plus the fusion came with awd first and if you want a camry with awd it has to be 2021+ and can only get it in hybrid with a 4 cylinder while the accord still doesn't offer awd. Im still a honda fan boy but the 2013-2019 fusions were very well built. They felt well insulated with great NVH materials

@@CanadianMax you're absolutely correct.
K-5 GT versus the fusion that would be a good race
@@bmshaven or Lincoln Continental but thats more like a Taurus lol. Them lincolns have bad/slow trannys tho.
Infinity q50 with 3.0t engine will be greater competitor to fusion sport. Both are v6 turbocharged and awd.
That's a lot of weight for only a 75hp advantage so not bad for the fusion
This would have been better with the tlx type s, the major factor was the awd, if they were both 2wd it would have been a better race. still great to see even though the accord lost lol keep up the great work Sam!

Do y'all even boost launch? Or do you just red light foot off brake and go? You'll get better results if you spool that turbo or in the Ford's case, twin turbos before launch.
I have the Ford Fusion Sport....the lawyers saw to it that any brake torque boosting you do gets squashed by the electronic nannies, and it cuts power around 2300 RPM. You CAN time it though, but a pain in the ass to do so.
Sam I recommend you put the 2021 Mazda3 Sedan turbo against both of those cars including the 2021 Subaru WRX. That would give them a good run for the money.
Why not race a cruise ship against a horse and buggy.
I'd like to see the Fusion Sport against the Q50S 3.7 or 3.0t if that's not available.
