Hey. My sons and I just moved to the southern tip of Nevada in the Mojave desert, out in the middle of nowhere. The natural resources to build up soil is extremely limited here. I'd really like to get some of that special bulk/nitrogen building seed that you were talking about.
We're at 2,500ft, in a valley. The soil is somewhat sandy, but very heavy in silt. Its so heavy in alkaline and salts that it's right at the point of turning grey, from tan. It needs lots of bulk. The water is from a well but is a fairly high ph. We get very little monsoonal flow here, just high, drying winds and very, very low humidity. Single digits is average during the warm season.

I order my seed from Peaceful Valley Farm Supply, the Winter Soil Builder Mix is my favorite blend. I usually will also grab some inoculant at the same time to help seed the soil with good bacteria. You could also use bales of alfalfa hay for mulch around the garden as a good source of nitrogen when local plant material is scarce.

@@SouthwestVictoryGardens what about that particular seed that you were talking about? You said to ask you about it in the comments that we would probably not be able to find it to order. Organic masses near impossible to find out here being almost 70 miles from the nearest town. I was thinking of ordering some of that BMG sorghum Sudan grass hybrids that they use for cover crops that they claim is heat and drought tolerant and will regrow over and over and produces a massive root system but then dies off during the winter? But then you were talking about this other seed that seems to produce just as well if not better in our climate?
