Flowers of Oberlangen

The tank suddenly turns and with a violent move crashes through the camp's front gate.... The gate is broken and falls! What? Who is this small figure running towards the tank! Dressed in a long coat, and a cap on the head with the colors displayed of the 7th Uhlans? Then it appears to be a handsome, young girl! "English, American, Canada....who are you?" she yells at the tank commander. Poles.Poles, girl! "The 1st Polish Armoured Division my dear!..." "Poles! Oh, God! Poles! And we are from the Armia Krajowa.. of the Warsaw Rising!" Poles? "It's a miracle", she shouts loudly! On the12th of April 1945 the 1st Polish Armoured Division liberates the camp Oberlangen in Germany, with 1726 Polish women and girls who fought in the Warsaw Rising. General Maczek would later say about this: " If we were to receive flowers for our campaign, they would undoubtedly have been thrown at us for the liberation of these Polish women!"
