I feel like HYBE is just making Lesserafim jump on trends in their music to reach global market instead of creating a music identity or sound solely defining them.

You feel that way because you're right. And a lot of the popular celebs in the music biz are doing that now, they make songs based on trends rather than the passion or uniqueness of the artist(s).

Honestly it feels like they don't know what they're doing with le sserafim anymore. They do have some bangers, but overall there's like nothing to set them apart like no signature sound.
Whilst it isn't plagiarism having 3 songs so heavily inspired by popular songs feels lazy

You should come to Africa or atleast listen to music from different countries in Africa half of them are Amapiano inspired(originated from South Africa) so I don't know how le sserafim having inspired by different genres is being lazy whilst they practice very hard for the choreography and singing, no man is an island and nowadays nothing is original so you can't gate keep genres when your favs didn't invent the ones they are using😂

I think the problem here is that you have two members with a 10 age difference in the same group with no regards to the fact that one of them is a minor.
It’s one thing when your underwear hem is above your pants, but it’s another when your pants are open just showing it. And yes, it’s inappropriate for the reason that Eunchae is still a minor. And if you’re also having controversial styling and choreo, then you have a problem that will affect the minor. It doesn’t matter is she’s 17 or 12. It’s still inappropriate because she is a minor. If you wanted more mature/adult concepts and stylings, then don’t have minors because that’s honestly disgusting and gross to subject children to that. It is a detriment to debut with a minor because then you will be scrutinized and subjected to ridicule because you’re sexualizing a child and not an adult.
You didn’t see NCT Dream debuting with Cherry Bomb or Regular. Or Seventeen debuting with 24H.
It’s honestly not a smart idea to sexualize the adults in a group and then try and pretend like the minor isn’t going to be affected. At best, she looks like someone’s little sister they were forced to bring bar hopping. At worst, she is being sexualized despite everything.
Wish I saw more sensible takes like this. People defending this straight up sound like preds with some of the statements i've heard. Word for word, giving me traumatic flashbacks.

You're so eloquent. This is a problem with Hybe (and many other companies), why put Eunchae (and Garam) in that group if you want to pursue more daring concepts and dances? The dance and the outfit contribute to this narrative and the fans that keep on dismissing may very well be the ones saying "We failed them" later on.
I personally don't have have a problem with it, call me a pedo if you want, it's just that people should've seen this coming when hybe debuted not 1 but 2 14 years olds, (hyein and niki) and a whole group of minors, with no regards to predators and as much as the whole new jeans, Le sserafim, and enhypen maknae line gets sexualized I'm guessing source music just thought people would over look the choreography , as much hate Le sserafim got from international fans during their debut because of that one floor move in fearless source did nothing to change it or the choreography
And now it's like the dances just more and more explicit, because when I first saw the perfect night and smart choreography I already knew people would make am issue out of it
The whole thing with the outfits I don't really care about that tbh, because it's just a outfit and its not like she's naked on stage, but I think her stylists give her outfits to show off her long legs to get attention

Same here. I thought it was a joke then thought why just why and who has the time for that when I watched through the whole video.
The first attempt seemed harmless and funny. He was respectful when he asked. Although the camera was on and could easily capture some confidential label information. But then he came back and made fake business cards. The fact of the matter is, we all know that is not how you get a celebrity to talk to you. So with him doing it, there is some malice involved and could give ideas to sasaengs and then it becomes a problem.
Although we know he doesn't have any bad intentions, if kq were to let this happen then many more people (with different intentions) would try to do the same.

Hey Angie,one thing I can assure as a South African ,we definitely appreciate that Amapiano is taking the world by storm and I don’t think we have a problem with artists using the similar beats to make some songs like LSF’s’ Smart’

The song Easy is just ok. Nothing about it stands out, imo. Water was catchy, the dance was good and both fit Tyla well (even more than her other songs). Same for Doja Cat with Woman.
I think in terms of KQ security, we have to remember that they are still a MUCH smaller company than Hybe, JYP, and SM. Currently they only have 2 idol groups that we know of, so a separate entrance seems a bit of a reach. This is just my personal thoughts lol, nothing conclusive.

I think the issue lies in automatically equating an entire genre to one popular song. Smart is just an afrobeat/amapiano inspired track. No direct similarity to Water or Woman. And to people saying the choreo is similar to Water, shaking ass has been a thing for decades literally 💀. It didn’t start with Tyla. And for the Good Bones-bad idea right? comparison, it’s just the rock instrumental and shouty vocal delivery, which once again has been a thing in rock before Olivia was even born. Equating an entire genre or style to one popular song recently released is the issue. With that said, I do think the Swan song instrumental have some similarities with Kill Bill but that’s just it.
Just a correction, it’s not “shaking ass”, it’s bacardi. Bacardi involves more leg movement than bum movement (even when Tyla is teaching other people to do it, you can see the legs moving in a galloping motion). I’m South African and it’s annoying to see people equating Bacardi with Twerking when it’s not the same thing because it engages different parts of the body.
Also, while they didn’t copy Tyla exactly, they did take inspiration from her. But this is nothing new in kpop. It has always been about hopping on trends. I think people are just shocked that they started hopping on Amapiano early, because kpop is kinda always late to the trend…? But this time they’re on time with it.

It’s like saying belly dancing and hula dancing are the same because they involve hip shaking, when we know they’re different. Now saying they’re different means that, while they weren’t copying Tyla, they (HYBE) were inspired by seeing her do Bacardi and decided that Le Sserafim should do the same, right down to the line dance formation with it.

The choreo for smart is definitely not for Eunchae(a minor), pointing it out isn't being a pervert. Half of the choreo is literally just them shaking their hips which (with common sense) a minor probably shouldn't be doing, especially that drop in the choreo i honestly hated watching it. I think Lia's situation is similar to Onew from SHINee: he's on hiatus and not included in recent merch and collaborations, they're basically only selling stuff he did/modeled for before going on hiatus. Makes sense if the contract is "suspended" they cannot use their names and faces

As for the hate Eunchae getting lately, i've been to many korean vids discussing the issue and apparently some radical fans of another kpop group is fanning the flames and trying to get this comeback as messy as possible... I swear idk why this ppl feels so threatened by them.

The way Eunchae was dancing to a song with African beats in it was not inappropriate because where I live (in south Africa) its very normal for minors even younger than 13 move like that when dancing
I think the problem isn't how she moves but what others think about this kind of moves. Like in your culture it's ok, but in most cultures it's viewed as sexual. So, this will lead to some perverts acting creepy towards minor (or even more creepy than before) which will lead her to mental problems. Of course we can't protect her from all the dangers in the world since some creeps can get turned on by literally anything but we at least can try to protect her from biggest problems.

Imagine if Rock and Roll back then was guarded only for a certain demographic, the US would have never gotten it's cultural standing over the world. Same for Hip Hop genre. Now that the influence comes from elsewhere suddenly being woke (another invention by Americans) means trying to prevent that happening for others.
It's like they are all learning from the previous bandmates company establishment and announcement. Jisoo was smart. Yeah she established Blisoo but when she made the OFFICIAL announcement, she included X, YT and Instagram so people could immediately follow. Very smart move especially considering a few hundred thousand people incorrectly followed a fan created OA account because Jennie didn't give a YT channel. Jisoo was also smart to make a Blisoo RUclips page so she can keep her personal page separate. It sounded like Lisa was just using hers. Not bad but it seems like it would make more sense to have the private and business channels separate.
Anyway it's excited to see all the ladies making moves. Now I can't wait to see what Rose does.its fun seeing them all out doing their own thing.

I’m a first grade teacher and I’m always integrating music into my classroom and lessons. Many of my students LOVE kpop so I’ll have it playing in the background while we work or making songs to go along with their melodies that align with what we’re learning. It helps them not only remember what we are learning but also have fond memories of the year.

Water and Smart (smarter like they sing) just rhyme with each other, and they have similar afrobeats, because of that they also get similar choreo since dancing is to match the beat and feeling of music. It's the same genre, nothing to get mad about. Reminder to stay hydrated and drink water, touch some grass and don't forget your chillpill!

I was a minor at the time and I couldn’t watch it cause it felt wrong knowing they were younger than me and having to literally hump the floor. The outfits breaking seemed dangerous.

my immediate thought when I watched the Smart stage was that Eunchae looked really out of place next to her members. The choreo is inherently "sexy", but I also think it's because Yunjin was WORKING, like dancing as is if rent was due by midnight, to the point that it made Eunchae look uncomfortable in comparison. With Eunchae and Yunjin being the two extremes, the rest of the members were the whole spectrum between. Nobody was was really giving the same thing, which was interesting, but also very dissonant, and I can see why people are blaming the sexy concept for it. I believe if the choreo was tighter and all members danced it the same there would be significantly less hate towards it (even though the fact that Eunchae is 17 is a totally valid reason to question the dance in the first place).
From a western prospective:
Once again, just like anti fragile sounds “similar” to Rosalia. Smart and its dance concepts are “similar” to Tyla’s Water. Swan song is “similar” to kill Bill. Good bones sounds “similar” to Olivia.
There is a clear difference between inspiration and imitation…..it’s unauthentic.
When will the industry be held accountable for stealing from international artists? They just repackage songs from international artists. Push a big budget and promotion and dance choreography and think it's new. It's illegal everywhere else. The industry steals so much from original creators in other countries.

Worry- When Hyunjin was on hiatus in stray kids, skz and div1 always included Jiniret (Hyunjin's Skzoo) in content to imply that Hyunjin is ok, especially since the members were (allegedly) not allowed to say his name on broadcast or in other content. Yeji held up Li-li (Lia's Twinzy) in a youtube video when it was her part, but the blatant lack of merch before fixing it is a little worrisome in a company standpoint. This parallels other groups, but we can't guess solely off of this. This could also be done from poor outsourcing of merchandise creators (not an excuse, but possible explanation)
Business Neutral- Unlike Skzoo, Denimalz, or Lovelys that are sold in the JYP store as their own products, the Twinzy plush comes with photocards and is sold in the tour as merch. It might be difficult to sell the Li-li plush without a Lia photocard (and let's not make her do work while on hiatus, even if it's just a photo. its not "just" a photo if it means making your artist work during a health hiatus). The inclusion for the Li-li plush afterward might have been solely due to backlash and the realization of audiences willing to buy the Li-li plush without receiving a photocard along with it.
TBH, all 3 Easy songs are just nice background beats that don't sound distinctively anything.
