'Mummy?' 'Not now, dear.' 'Mummy?' 'Yes, dear?' 'What's that driver man (woman/ person) doing - over at the wire fence?' 'Ahm? Ooh. Nothing, dear. Look, dear, there's a pigeon.' 'Mummy?' 'Yes!' 'He's doing it again, with a lady now .. at that wire fence ..' 'Oh, yes? Doing what, dear?' 'Ummm .. "Nothing," Mummy ..' 'That's nice.' ;o)
13:17 no you didn't miss the AWS. When you got out the seat to play with the gangway conversion it went into step 2 brake and THE DDS went to Off. If you put the DDS into off whilst moving, the train will initiate an emergency brake application 👍
"Hi passengers this is your Captain speaking. Captain Colonel Ulysses Failure! P.S. We have a stop coming up so it's time to stop mucking about! In the world of TSW with the Colonel as Captain these words mean exactly the opposite! Great job as always sir!
Interesting point about running of UK railways - late running can still be considered on-time. Much of the railway runs on outdated philosophies of days of past; such as the fact there are two timetables in existence for the same trains. 1 - operational timetable that has 30 second intervals within a minute, and, 2 - a public timetable with a minimum time unit of 1 minute. This results in discrepancies between the two of course. And more ridiculous is that a long distance train can arrive 15 mins late and still be on-time, 5 mins for local services. I think we need some fundamental changes to the way things are done in the UK.
30:00 the right hand track goes to the old Newhaven Marine station which is about 100m away, which is closed but still gets a single empty train that 'calls' at the station
Those boards are for stopping people chucking things onto the track and train... or chucking themselves in the way of the train. Too much paperwork if that happens. You did good, Colonel. Only emergency braked... well, I lost count so I guess it was a few times. :) But you did make it... and you landed nicely against that bumper. If you'd gone through it, those people in the townhouses on the other side of the fence would have been singing "The Railroad Runs Through the Middle of the House". Ah... good times.
If the boards on the bridge are for the same purpose as those on bridges over race tracks, which they may not be, it's to stop people congregating on them to watch what's going on and thus blocking the bridge or becoming casualties in the event of an accident. But more likely to stop people chucking stuff at trains.
You know, while I have no interest in playing this game, I have been watching ever since you stepped in front of a moving train and had to walk back. That was quite interesting.
As a daily user of a class 323, I feel your pain about the three abreast seating! They simply do not accommodate the shoulder width of the typical human male.
SDO is select door operation (not sure if that’s the correct wording) which means if the platform is too short for the train the doors that aren’t next to the platform won’t release.
Nearly, it's Selective Door Operation. On the newer 387 version it interacts with platform beacons put on a sleeper just before the station with the number of doors that can be opened which results in the driver only having to press the usual 2 release buttons (the 387 cab has removed 2 of the 4 buttons shown on this 377 variant).
This game has a very gentle learning curve. Failure to understand the mechanics of the braking system has you flummoxed 😶. Please keep safe from covid 19 because I suspect you are a natural selection dead end. A bit like the koala. Enjoyable to watch but you know they are NOT going to make the distance. 😭
A rail based ambulance. The Emergency Breaking makes sense now.

I guarantee, nobody else going towards Lewes ever had as much fun as we did just now.

I must agree, crashing into the buffers is pretty near them
Was a controlled deceleration
This is why I rejoice the fact that every time I drive on the roads, the Colonel is an entire planets width away from me.

I agree, but the amount of investment required to modernize is monstrous.
When i was getting the train back from Harrow & Wealdstone the Southern train was 13 minutes late and i get to Leighton Buzzard it was on time

Turn your tail lights off. That switch is for the front. You aren't going forwards and backwards at the same time.
You must be new here.
@@colonelfailure Nope and I see your point.
I was not happy with my seat, the window was dirty and I spilled my coffee when you went fast. Although.. would ride again.
Colonel Failure: The Jeremy Clarkson of the train engineering world.
Colonel: "Why not subscribe?"
Me: "Because I'd have to unsubscribe!"
Indeed lol
CF, "I am not on form!" I didn't know you had a form.
25:40 Cup holder Colonel? Cupholder? No not a Cupholder it looks to me like a heat/ac vent!

It's an AC vent, not a cupholder
Wrong it's a cupholder for when you go up the infamous 90 degree Falkirk Hill.

Ooh we know how much the Colonel loves the Southern.
He is overdoing it with the realism though
I always do maybe 10 MPH into the
Station I never do emergency breaks that’s the last thing you want to do 😂😂😂
You know, while I have no interest in playing this game, I have been watching ever since you stepped in front of a moving train and had to walk back. That was quite interesting.
Isn't hitting emergency brake repeatedly exactly your form?
Sadly, yes.
the reason you use the emergency brake so often is an abundance of caution, being Colonel Safety Failure after all 😀
19:10 that passenger be like
2:32 Colonel, we all share your pain. On a regular basis.
this was painful and from time to time a painful video is quite good fun.
Stick around, I've got loads more just like it
It's time for a new challenge. STEAM 🚂
erik stobbe one of the bossman games engines for ts2020.

I like 3+2 on empty trains as you can get as many as 6 seats for yourself and only yourself. When it gets full though, I’d rather stand!
A Colonel Failure video ending in the town where I was raised. Woohoo!!!!
6:30 Exhibit A: Look at top left corner. The loading timer! LoL you wonder why your always late! 👍👍👍
“Passengers for London road should be travelling in the front car only” . The tail lights is for the leading cab.

Shame it just opens all doors in this game.
I'm here to watch a train crash
Please don't disappoint us, Colonel Failure
Great video, it made me have a laugh
Lewes is about 70 miles due South of London. (That's in England.)
in Dutch we have one word for it . . . Kutjaan ! ! still love you Mate . . .
Holding on to my seat Sir.
Falmer is sacred. It is the home of Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club! Are you going to drive a football special?
I think you did that last bit with the right doors locked but not the left :)
I've lived in Seaford. There are no delights...
Well that is a shame.
Railbalance.
12:36 if you were wondering. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lewes
All those times you're train stops before the station it is because the driver accidentally hit the emergency breaks!
Flamin rookie drivers.

That was very serious, did someone get a telling off from dovetail after the other night stream? 😂
Quite the opposite :)
