The author said Cynthia should win, but Elton would because of familiarity. So, the "fix" was already in.

Before I knew the context of the song...the fact that it has to do with Harriet and the underground railroad...I began to cry when I heard it acapella cause I heard Jesus talking to me. I think he should have gotten a "Life Achievement Award". I love Elton John, have many of his albums, went to many of his shows. I've discovered him when I was quite young in the 70s. The first album I bought was Mad Men Across the Water. The song that was nominated was not one of his best work (not even close). The Song Stand Up, in my opinion, was the best of all of the nominations and the performance was amazing as well.
