so hog is considered a counter to doomfist because doomfists kit revolves around farming empowered punches with the block and capitalizing off of that. since hook stops block he can effectively shut down a doomfists entire gameplay. hog was already huge in season 1 before doomfist got buffed because he has a free oneshot combo on any squishy, which is just devastating because of how easy it is to hit. other tanks have basically instakills, like reins charge or dfs empowered punch into primary and punch, but these are harder to hit and often cost positioning or require setup, whereas hogs is just free. that being said, i think his rise in popularity in season 2 is connected with doomfists buffs. orisa is still favorable against a doomfist, but not quite as good, because while her javelin does stop block- the damage it does still counts towards empowered punch (so if the doomfist is half charged and gets javelined he will still get the charge off the javelin dmg), and while her fortify stops her from being displaced by punch, the main purpose of punching the tank is often just to hit the squishies surrounding it more easily with the AoE. yeah doomfist simply has better movement than dva, and yeah its not even close. dva probably has the best *controllable* movement, but the tech available for doom can get him across some maps *quick* without even touching the ground if you want to play doom the most important thing is to keep a movement ability available when entrying or youll be dead, or if you use both to entry make sure that you have an out or your ult. check out getquakedon's guides if you want to start him up for real, because theres a few techs that would be very helpful to know
