@Beanz for all we know, RCE could be a former engineer who devolved into an architect but is in denial about it. I however am not in denial about my own inferior intellect.
The trick to hydraulics, matt, is to do maximum rotation with minimum piston distance. If you notice some of the most efficienct hydraulics in this game are connected very close to their pivot points, that way they can move the end of the bridge much farther with less of a piston, keeping the costs down.
Editing is such miserable grunt work, idk anyone who would do it willingly. I’m certain almost anyone with a soul pawns it off to a stooge first chance they get.
This was the most actual engineering I've seen on this channel in forever. Matt's gotten so close to full-blown architect this past year, and I'm not complaining at all, but just sayin'. Great to see a return to the roots.
Fun fact! When RCE says he's using advanced maths he's not actually lying. Learned a thing in my Uni maths class recently. It's an advanced formula called "Paddy's Law." Probably why he named his dog after it. Used a lot in engineering apparently. I'd explain it here, but don't know how to write Greek symbols and formulas in a RUclips comment. The more you know! Disclosure Statement: *RCE and myself are not associated in any way. Paddy's Law is not actually a real thing. I'm only taking statistics at Uni right now and not studying to become an engineer.*
0:54 I did some math... Assuming the taxi is direct drive, or stays in 1st gear, and that 5.0 Pg = 3,000lbs... Using (F = m*a) and (P = F*V) as (P = m*a*V)... P = 3000lbs * 7.5m/s² * 15mp/s P = 337500 lbsm²/s³ P = 205.293618 HP The taxi's horsepower is 205 HP.
A passing mechanical engineer here, Greetings This video was so helpful it literally explained half of what I learned from 6years in 20mins. Much love.

i love that you are going to the effort of making musical intros, and it it impressive how you keep making new lyrics instead of just using one for a series. nice work rce.
Editor earned a spit-take from me; when you said "To be fair" i immediately started muttering "to be fair" like from Letterkenny and took a sip just as that clip was put in
"Steel works better with compression than tension...." bridge collapses "Oh wait no I think it's the same!" lol the fact a real engineer said that makes me feel better about myself.
Cracks me up, Construction Architects (Draughtsman) hate SE's, we just hate doing math more. Finding a good one is like finding a good barber, you never let them go. SE's hate Architects because of all the zaney BS they get taught in University that doesn't actually work in practice, therefore have to spend all their time producing miracles. But one thing Construction Architects and SE's have in common is, we both hate 'those' Architects. The amount of projects we get brought that passed planning but have no chance at being built is honestly insane. Still, can't complain. Their incompetence pays our wages. Love the content geez.
During my school time as construction technician, whenever we drew forces during statics or drawing bridges there is always moving joints but there was one joint pinched at beginning. So the bridge where you did not have it attached to the road was correct way to do it. Like in that one video where you said you wouldn't build bridges but ended up making more realistic bridges ahaha.
Still think you should give Ark Survival a go. It is an open ended game, and thus you could make several seasons from it. Granted, the amount of time and effort you would have to put into making any progress would mean that you might get about fifty or so episodes per season. And the amount of engrams and blueprints you have to get leaves tons of room for optimization. Each season could just be until you max out your character at level 100 then you start a new season where you repeat the process but with knowledge from the previous season you can optimize the engrams you take, how you build and what resources you prioritize, and what tames you have. Though eventually you will learn the tricks to leveling up quickly and the secrets that the ark survival map holds.

I love how Matt is actually a talented musician. So I'm convinced his editor intentionally misaligns his little vocal bits to make it off time
