Claire, I love your new dress. That fabric is lovely! Good luck with the strap dilemma. Congratulations on the house clear-out. We're planning to downsize our home in the next couple of years so I'm planning to start clearing out what I can now. I just hate being rushed when making decisions! I'm looking forward to the sewing room tour!

Thank you so much! I did have to shorten the strap in the end, quite considerably 🤣 I think I’ll stick to the tie version in future. Lol

Always enjoy watching and listening to you. Going back to work will probably give you some rest,😂😉 after a full-on work at home week. Lol. With the sheer red fabric, maybe make a scarf style pullover top to wear over a tank or camisole. I tried unsuccessfully to put myself on a fabric shopping ban, 😮im a quilter, so replenishing the stash seems to be ongoing. But i really need to behave🤑. Loved the new fabrics you bought. Have a good week.

That cotton voil would make a pretty kimono/topper/duster. Simplicity 8172 or the Sew Different Joti duster. If you had a pattern with a binding around the edge, you could get maybe a plain satin to use for a contrasting style element.

Oh that’s a good idea! 👍🏼 Or even a swimsuit coverup actually, thinking about it 🤩

I enjoy seeing your fabric purchases! I have avoided online shopping for a while, but when I need thread etc I always find some extra fabric at the local shop! I have the same problem with the Lyra dress. I think you would have to remove the sleeves, then adjust the shoulder by the amount you need to, and blend it back into the armscye, I've just done that with the sewoverit Nicole dress, luckily I did a toile first, so I was able to adjust the pattern. It did work, but I found I had a little extra fabric in the sleeve head, so maybe I needed to take a little out of that too. There is a really good tutorial by Aneka of Made to Sew.

Ah great, thank you. I really must make the adjustments as it’s a lovely Lyra that just doesn’t get worn ☺️

Ooh sorry just popped on again… I have the shoulder issue too and have put a dart in the shoulder after the fact. I now measure the shoulder length on all sizes and go with the one that is my size for neck and shoulders and then use the pivot method to make bigger for the bust, waist etc 😊 Debbie x x

That is a very wise tip. I think What Bec Sews has started doing that too, especially with Tilly patterns

Good Morning Claire, just listening about your fabric buying… My husband is at an event at the NEC so I came for the ride and got the train into Birmingham. Went to Barry’s, I don’t have a huge stash as I get a sewing block when I have too much choice but you have to take opportunity when it comes. it will be a year til we come back ! Saying that I travel with him to events through the year and you Vloggers have opened up lots of amazing fabric stores for me to visit around the country. I went to Roy’s Material World last month on our way to Nottingham 😀😀 Debbie x x

So many lovely makes. Is the navy and white stripe dress a lengthened version of the Naya Tee x

Shame if the I have the Rea dress pattern but haven’t made it up yet as I didn’t want to construct. Could you add a thin strip of elastic to the inside of the strap, ? With all those lovely colours, it might just hide away nicely

Oooh, could be a possibility. Would be very fiddly to do but I’ll have a think & see. Thank you, that’s a really good tip 👍🏼

Could you cut the straps at the top of the shoulder and then take out there?
