Lly trucks are still stout, if your keeping them relatively stock then its preference. If your going to build them, it doesnt really matter anymore. My 05 lly I did headstuds, grade c gaskets, built trans and modded the stock turbo. My buddies lbz with similar work puts down the same realistic power as mine, cant shake eachother from a dig or roll. Yea I have the risk of bending a rod but he also has the same risk of cracking a piston.
I'd be pissed if I got an LLY and it was sold as an LBZ but I'd get over it and move on who is gonna know its the same motor. I was mad when I bought my manual 2012 6.7 Cummins and the salesman didn't inform me it was detuned compared to the automatic (I should've done my research) but I bought a tuner and got over it. Great video great information. I rechecked the Vin on my 06 just to be sure 8th digit is a D thankfully it is.
Had an 07 duramax for work back in 09...never been stranded more in my life. Total pos. Never went more than a week without limp mode on the interstate out of nowhere. Other truck was an 02 duramax...NEVER broke down. Must of been a late 07.
Have 3500 Silverado 2 door 12ft flatbed 2wd dually got in '11 w/58k miles . Traded my '05 on the '06 had bought the '05 new. .Never knew anything about the codes y'all call lly lbz etc till a couple years ago. But my LBZ I have has everything under the hood and vin code that makes it a LBZ ..it was manufactured May 06 in Canada. Just now changed out my water pump at 204k mi runs great but of course I need to change out my EGR and EGR cooler/ turbo at sometime even though it runs great the engine light is on.
We used to replace the springs. Then we put high temp lube. Then they tried bushings. Now gm does not even do anything for them. Been working for gm for 6 years
So the door stamp on my truck is dated as 09/06" september 2006 yet according to the registration its a 2007. 8th digit is D so I know it's an LBZ my question is when did they switch the tune in 2006 six?
What fuel injectors do you put in the 2006 Duramax do you put LBZ or LLY? I've just started to replace mine I believe somebody was already in there and replace them before me there are LBZ in there now but the plug fits an LLY much smoother you tell me
@@thegearheadshop8621 it's not an lly for gods sake.... It's an Lbz engine with LLY programming because GM hadn't yet been approved for compliance by the EPA with the tuning yet. Basically GM put the cart in front of the horse. This has been beat and beat and beat for years now.
I want an lbz but only can find lly so I opted out for lly it’s also cheaper but I put efi live tune 200 percent over injectors and eg5p fuel pump and it’s frickin fast
Super helpful! Thanks. A while ago I bought an 07 duramax Savana with the LLY engine code. The vans are tuned down to about 260 hp, lots of room to go up if you throw a tune on, which I don’t plan on doing because it only has the 4L80E behind it.
It’s not the bushings Trust me just spray the tips of the leafs and nothing else and it will stop squeaking till the lube wears off (week or so) That would eliminate the bushings or single out your squeak They make some thin plastic shims that will last the longest I’ve seen yet (month or so)
Because sometimes when I go poop. My balls hang in the water. My mom always wondered why I wiped when I peed. I wiped to get the water off my balls. That is why I wiped... To get the water off my balls
Because the LBZ is better than the LLY. LLY has the highest compression ratio of any duramax. LLY are prone to head gasket issues. They have the 5 speed Allison, they have a restricted turbo mouth piece. The intake runners are smaller, the fuel systems handle less on an LLY. ITS WORTH IT TO FIND AN LBZ.
Personal opinion! If you want weaker pistons and and a smaller turbo than go ahead and get you an LBZ over an LLY. If you want a stronger rotating assembly, largest stock turbo and stronger piston assymbly get an LLY. Lbz has a 6 speed tranny and LLY are prone to heat issues but there is good aftermarket coolers for that. If you want to leave your truck stock (which most guys on here don't)than get an LBZ but if you're looking to put any power through your duramax maybe get an LLY. LLY till I die!!!!
Meh. Better safe than sorry, just get an 07. The year also has 2 duramaxes but they’re more than easy to identify just at first glance. (Unless you have a chunk of your brain taken out)
I don’t even drive a Diesel or any pick up truck and I love the duramax and how mean it sounds
Some early 06s also had the crimped style gaskets like the LLY’s did making them more prone to needing a HG job..
You could probably drop the leaf springs and pack the bushing with grease🤷🏻♂️
You could also try PB Blaster that has silicon in it I put that on my bushings to keep them lasting longer and squeaks

Completely agree about forums. Any forum. I'm in a bunch of fishing and all it is is shit talking. No real knowledge help.
Looking at a one owner 2006 tomorrow, thanks for this !
Thank you man , you helped me from loosing a 3k deposit lol

06 duramaxes are all lbz, so idk why the hell people have to argue
Micheal Ortiz even if they are a lly it’s just a detuned lbz

Cody Yellott and then tuning comes to play
@@codyyellott117 the lly has the biggest turbo out of any duramax ever

If you have the 6 speed allison 1000 with manual mode then you have an lbz
PermaFried Mike I have a titled 06 with vin code 2 lly with the 6 speed so 06 can come with a lly or lbz

My 98 squeaks but I don’t mind it. Yours is new so I can understand how it bugs you
Press F to pay respects to Honda Boi.
No F's are pressed. No respect to Honda boys
What Is the paint code of that color?
What brand headlights are those, they are super clear. When I got my truck it had aftermarket headlights and they keep foggin up.
I like the color but the black was hella clean
Thanks man, I was so confused

what tail lights do you have on your dmax?

I got a lbz and I'm only 21 😊
I’m 20😁
I’m 19 and got one 😍🤌🏽
Im 16 :)
i’m 17 💪 good shit
The lbz has a different transmission
The lbz has different intakes and some internals, tuning, and yes the Allison has another gear.
Put a kc 10 turbine turbo shaft on it
I thought this horse was beat to death years ago.
You obviously haven't been on the lbz facebook page.
