Here because of research I was doing after watching the Errol Flynn film Against All Flags. This is fabulous. I will be looking into buying some Ye Banished Privateers CDs for my collection. Too bad can't get any on vinyl, it seems, but you can't have everything.

no, gangplank is the plank they use to throw him in the sea
Actually, a gangplank is the timber used to connect a ship to it's dock slip. The crew used it to easily get on/off board. This shanty is obviously fantasy oriented, since pirates didn't actually make people, "walk the plank". That was mostly an invention by J.M. Barrie for the novel, Peter Pan.
But it's still so much fun, nonetheless.

What is or what do they mean by Gangplank
A gangplank is the plank of wood that they make people walk. You know the famous "walk the plank" saying
Its called gangplank because when pirates took over your ship they said join our gang of pirates of walk the plank into the sea to your death.
The gang plank is the plank they’d use to get on the ship from port for carrying cargo and people from the jetty to the ship, just in this case the’ve thrown the gang plank above the wet and plan to cast out their undesirable mates. I.e. walk the plank ya lubbers
