Just sorted this out for my set up - thank you!
Worth mentioning, you need to enable RTSP under each camera you wish to view.
Unifi Protect > "Camera" > Settings > Advanced > enable RTSP

Thank you for the video. The install documents say "Important: you will need a working ffmpeg installation for homebridge-unifi-protect to work correctly. To make installation more convenient, this plugin uses ffmpeg-for-homebridge which provides prebuilt versions of ffmpeg for some of the more popular platforms". I'm guessing that (as far as you know) the plugin installs ffmpeg-for-homebridge, since you don't mention this. Can you confirm please ?

Excellent video as usual! I sincerely appreciate all your help with unifi and synology. However, is it possible to backup recorded footage from unifi protect to a synology offsite? Nothing is on youtube about this and I'm not 100% sure it's possible. Thanks again.

Hi, thanks for the video. The G4 Pro has 2 cameras, correct? So what about the bottom "package" camera? How does that work with Homebridge and HomeKit? And, do you get the package detection notifications on HomeKit like you do on Unify? I'm asking because I'm considering this camera over others and I'm pretty deep into Apple Ecosystem right now. Thanks

    • @lowshots5305
      @lowshots5305 7 месяцев назад

i'll actually use it side by side as iw ant recording and detection to be done on the udm and not rely on icloud etc. for my security, so notifications, etc. will be set up through the protect app, but for livestreaming, doorbell interaction, etc. everything will run smoothly through homekit

Your videos are pretty well detailed, have you tried any Alexa integration for this? I'd like doorbell notifications to announce via Alexa but docs online are poor for this.

    hi ,myself tito from uk
I managed to connect unified protect with apple come through home bridge .but one problem I am facing is in my umm pro I have different networks for example .IOT FOR SMART PRODUCTS AND CAM FOR CAMERAS AND DEFAULT FOR THE UDM ITSELT AND SWITCHES AND HUBS ..WHEN I KEEP MY HOME BRIDGE IN MAIN DEFAULT NETWORK WHICH IS SAME WITH UDM PRO AND IF I CONECT MY IPAD TO ADMIN WIFI THEN I WILL BE ABLE TO SEE THE CAMERA THROUGH THE HOME APP BUT I HAVE ANOTHER WIFI GROUP WHICH IS JUST FOR SMART PRODUCTS AND IOT DEVICES BUT NO ACESS TO THE DEFAULT NETWORK IF I KEEP MY IPAD TO CONECT TO THIS NETWORK NOTHING COMES UP IN THE HOME APP AND IT SHOWS CAMERA NOT RESPONDING
CAN YOU DO A VIDEO THAT SHOWS HOW TO CONFIG THE UDM PRO WITH DIFFERENT NETWORKS AND CONECT TO HOME BRIDGE IN ANOTHER NETWORK WITH SECURE AND ACESS THE CAMERA THROUGH HOME APP IT WILL BE APPRECIATED
    THANK YOU

What you need to do is allow inter VLAN routing for the camera traffic to the main LAN, otherwise it will be blocked

    • @papaorti1842

@@SpaceRexWill I also have everything on a UDMP and my Unifi cams on a separate VLAN and experience a very strange thing... accessing the cams over my WiFi (or LTE when away) works perfectly on all iOS devices and my MacBook. However when accessing the cams from my Mac Mini or ATv over ethernet, I can see the previews refreshing every view second however the stream doesn't start. The cam then says "no answer". I enabled ffmpeg verbose logging and only on connections over ethernet I get a line that says "...[UVC G4 Doorbell]: Stopped video streaming session." and some log entries later "[UVC G4 Doorbell]: [info] Exiting normally, received signal 15." So whatever is stopping the video, I cannot get the stream to work on ethernet-enabled devices.

Yes I use this setup you just need to have the HomePod enabled to chime and if you enable facial recognition for HKSV it will announce who it is

My house is decked out with Reolink security cameras. I could buy four Reolink kits with 8 cameras each for the price of one UniFi Protect kit with 8 cameras.
UniFi Protect is incredible, especially the software behind it.... but the pricing indicates it's not really meant for general purpose home use.

    • @badlilstang

The bullet cameras are built like tanks.. It's impressive hardware that is business grade. Just swapped my house out from Nest to Unifi protect. I already had a UDMP and POE switch so all I needed was a drive and some cameras.. Done deal.. My apple 4k tv device has an app from unifi that displays the cameras on TV.. freakin awesome setup.

So this is really only worth it if you use homebridge? I don't see the benefit of the app if you don't have the whole apple environment.
