You could use the Winlink email system via VHF, UHF, or HF radio fairly inexpensively, for example my land based VHF Winlink setup has only cost me about $40 of course excluding the computer to drive it. For HF radio, your range for the Winlink system could be as far as several hundred miles reliably, and doing some smart shopping the cost could be as low as $200. Give it a look and see what you think. The power of amateur radio shines in off grid communications like being away from cellular towers while on the water.
@Nauval Irawan Winlink is an email client, similar to that of Gmail, Hotmail, or Microsoft Outlook. It is specifically catered to look a lot like the old Microsoft Outlook. It tailors well use a "sound modem" and "external sound card" to be able to send out an audio signal to transmit it through your radio like a fax machine used to send things over phone lines.
@Nauval Irawan It is a digital mode. It is just much faster than morse code. This is what it sounds like: ruclips.net/video/RF0OMNZCEVA/видео.html Also, this RUclipsr has a great instructional setup and operational example!

It would be nice if there was an unlimited data option for cheap monthly cost BUT with the trade off of very low speed. Basically so the whole family could hang out in chat rooms (command line IRC clients or something like that) and send text messages all day long with no worry about overusing data. SMS text messages use 7-bit characters and have a maximum length of 160 characters, making the maximum data size of each SMS 1120 bits, or 140 bytes. So even a 500 byte/s connection or something tiny like that would allow everyone in the family to type text messages as fast as their hearts desired but would prevent them from doing anything really straining on the network like trying to download web pages or pictures.
Just get FON code so u dont need passwords if i know someone who has broadband they have universal access codes-internet access has to be made cheaper we need internet globally must be a way to broadcast it to even the remotest corners of earth
Is the first option reliant on that you get a new sim-card in each new country that you visit ? Because i can only find world wide sim-cards that charge about 15c/MB and thats quite expensive. Would be grateful for response :)
These options are far better now, than when this was produced, hello starlink
you put a lot of effort in that! thanks
