Turned 21 a couple of years after Polite Provisions opened so it's home to a lot of memories! Over the years Consortium Holdings has opened up more bars and speakeasies, not limiting you to just Polite, but definitely still worth checking out. Best part about Polite Provisions though is that there's a Chinese restaurant right next door (also owned by Consortium Holdings) where you can order food from and bring to the bar!
Our daughter loved the Pina Verde, and our son-in-law really liked the Full Windsor. We stayed off the streets on NYE, and had a nice evening at home with your recipes.
As a cocktail enthusiast living in San Diego, Consortium Holdings locations make up 90% of my regular spots. Neighborhood (w/ 2 speakeasies!!), Born and Raised, Raised by Wolves, etc are the must go to spots in the city for delicious drinks and amazing service.
thanks for highlighting drinks by one of the greats in the cocktail world! I'm surprised Castro doesn't have more followers on his channel, "Bartender at Large" - the guy's a legend
Even though full windsors are my least favorite tie knot, THAT DRINK LOOKS DELICIOUS AND I'M ORDERING IT WHEN I GO TO MY NEIGHBORHOOD COCKTAIL BAR. HOLY CRAP LEANDRO THANK YOU.
All three of these cocktails look divine! I've had the Kentucky Buck, but not the Piña Verde and the Full Windsor. Will try both those soon. Thanks, Leandro. Great channel!
Thank you for this amazing recommendation Leandro, my favorite go-to spot from San Diego is Dobson's but they almost never know how to make the classics so I'm giving Polite Provisions a try when they open back up again.
I will have to check out Polite Provisions, I honestly never heard of it. If you have not tried it, you really should check out Bolita. They have some really incredible cocktails but I would love to know if you think so too.
How did you even get a bottle of Green Chartreuse in this day and time??? Btw, I’ve been watching your video’s for quite some years now and I just started my own channel by making my first cocktail video. I know its far from perfect, but I would really like your two cents on it, if you got time to watch it. (The video is in my main language, Dutch, since I thought the English market would be to saturated to start. But hopefully you’d still be able to give me any feedback presentation-wise). P.S.: the description is both in Dutch and English
still love this channel, but I miss the rough and ready videos of the early days where there were no cuts and you saw all the mistakes. It was funny watching Marius laugh and moan at Leandro when he messed up.
it means there is more demand than there is supply so the distributor allocates specific quantities per region which usually makes stores hike prices because the bottles are difficult to get.
1/4oz (15ml) Benedictine - I assume 7.5 ml is the right amount ( in metric) as you said and mentioned (in the recipe) the amount as 1/4 oz and 15 ml is just a conversion error
Kentucky Buck question - In your YT short and the full YT video you made a while ago you use different specs (.5oz (15ml) Simple Syrup, .5oz (15ml) Ginger Syrup, and 2-3 Fresh Strawberries). Why the different? Also, 2 dashes Angostura Bitters is listed in the recipe of this video but not used. Mistake?
When you say Coconut Cream, don't you actually mean Cream of Coconut? I've made my own until now but I managed to get a hold of Coco Lopez from Sweden (I'm in Finland) so I'll have to give it a try.
Oh no no no! Never use whiskey stones. First of all you want water in your whiskey to help lengthen and open flavor second whiskey stones will add flavor you don’t want to the whiskey
When we went to San Diego in 2022 Polite Provisions and Raised by Wolves were the reasons we went to San Diego. They have some of the best cocktails, I have tried.
Polite provisions, and really all early consortium bars USED to be great. However their quality has slid terribly in the last 6-8 years. Watered down and poorly built is the name of the game now. The real shame is the talent is still there. If you sit at the bar and talk to the bartender (if it's not slammed) you'll likely end up with a fantastic off-menu cocktail as they're still capable of making great drinks. It's obvious management has prioritized quantity over quality. It's ironic that this video was posted just days after Polite Provisions was shut down because they had their liquor license revoked. They have reopened, hopefully management has taken note.
As a San Diegan I can definitely tell you WE CARE & Polite Provisions is bomb 🍸🍾🍹🧉🥂🍻🍶

I used to live across the street from Polite Provision, now I live a few blocks away. Can confirm, they make AMAZING cocktails!
Rickhouse is so good!
Just tried the pina verde… loved it! Thanks for spreading joy Leandro.
I love the videos highlighting cocktails from specific bars , a unique way to look at cocktails and bar program
just made the pina verde. chartreuse is one helluva drug!
Easily the best Christmas decorations in San Diego every year too.

I agree. Especially cause he is so darned handsome ;-)
This was great! Love learning things about my city.
Atomic Coffee-nice North Shore of Boston shoutout
Some great cocktails there. Thanks!

These are all great cocktails. Nice and easy with full flavours.

My favorite thing is when he talks about a drink he really likes such as the Piña Verde; he gets subtlety very bouncy
I have that same tiki statue/wood carving you have on the back bar…can’t remember if I picked it up in Guam or Hawaii….but it was in the 90s
Love this video! Had my birthday here a few years back!
I don't think I've been there since the first year it was open. I loved the build out and of course the drinks.
Brilliant video as always. Big fan of Eric and his drinks.
;-)
Thanks for sharing your video take care 😇

I'm actually going to San Diego next month, and Polite and Raised By Wolves are on my list of spots to hit.
Shame, Polite provisions was great, however, their liqour license was suspended, and had to shut down till january.
You should highlight drinks from the top 50 bars!
Full Windsor is the bomb
Leandro what kind of coffee do you like with Trade? I roast for a roaster in Denver if you ever want a hook up

Please put that thumbnail picture of yourself on a tshirt or make it an oil painting please. It’s art

Tried to go over Thanksgiving break when I was back in SD, there was a line around the block!!
What does it mean when green chanteuse is allocated?
it means there is more demand than there is supply so the distributor allocates specific quantities per region which usually makes stores hike prices because the bottles are difficult to get.

Yeah it happens it’s 7.5ml we just missed it in the edit :(

there are different approaches to cocktails and I like to explore them all
@@TheEducatedBarfly Cool, sounds good. What about the 2 dashes Angostura Bitters?
Ha! Cold in L.A. you’re funny

😂 yes I guess I do
Thats sounds like a grate variation on a veuw caree the Im sure is spelld wrong but i dont care
Do you ever use whiskey stones or chilling stones (not sure what they're called) instead of ice in your dricks?
Oh no no no! Never use whiskey stones. First of all you want water in your whiskey to help lengthen and open flavor second whiskey stones will add flavor you don’t want to the whiskey
@@TheEducatedBarfly What about using them instead of ice in non-whiskey drinks. Are some drinks more at risk of being flavoured by the stones?
@@ThePersmo your still going to be adding the mineral flavor of the stones to anything you chill with them. I don't see the point

Pina Verde is one of my favorite drinks. Had no idea where it was invented. Thanks for the background.
Disappointed they was no Windsor Canadian in the Windsor!
LOL
Hey theyre the homies, thats sick
