The original pocket has a sensor resolution of 1920x1080 so there's no way of getting more resolution than that out of the camera. The Blackmagic Cinema Camera (not pocket) did however have a 2.5k sensor.
The recommended cards if you want to shoot in RAW on the camera is the Sandisk Extreme Pro 95MB/s, but thats the older version (SDSDXP-064G-A46 for the 64GB version for example) and not the newer v30 rated cards. I'm looking at AF lenses and people say theyre compatible but how do they work? Can I leave the camera and stand in frame and it focus on me? Or do I have to press a button?
There's no continuous auto focus in this camera. The only type of auto focus is a push af where it simply focuses on the object in the center of the frame when you push the AF button, although not very smoothly.
@@carlscinema7086 I was guessing this was the case, just bought a cheap GH2 to replace it in this circumstance. Can't really make the argument for spending much on a second camera when the BMPCC blows everything out the park (minus vlog-stuff)
Any idea why my BMPCC doesn't have that menu screen? Mine goes straight to setting menu and nothing else. I bought an SD card (one recommended for the camera) and I cannot format it or anything
Hi everyone, I'm trying to watch the footage on my black magic but for some reason it's playing it back at super speed without audio, any ideas on how to rectify this?
I talk about it briefly from 4:05 to 4:35 in the video. But the general opinion about the pre-amps of the Original BMPCC is that they don't sound very good, so if your audio is important I would recommend recording it externally.
Hey man, I just got the BMPCC and I am having a hard time find the appropriate media for it. Every time I think that I find a sd card that works, it turns out they sold me the wrong one. Can you help? Thank you for your videos.
The SD-card situation for the BMPCC is a tricky one. The recommended cards for shooting raw is the Sandisk Extreme Pro 95MB/s. But that's the old version (specifically the SDSDXP-064G-A46, the 64 is for the 64gb version) and not the newer v30 ones. So you have to get them used. In the comment section of my BMPCC in 2020 video alot of people were talking about Kingston Canvas React cards aswell. I have no experience with them yet but you could check out the comments there and see what people are saying. If you are just interested in shooting Prores however there are more options of cards.
@@carlscinema7086 thanks for getting back to me. I got a little impatient and got micro sd cards and they work well up to prores hq. Not really :/ try reaching out to Blackmagic and maybe they can refer you to someone who still services them.
What firmware is your camera running?
I have the latest one, which I believe is 2.1 (the camera no longer recieves updates)
I'm having trouble self-shooting with this camera, as I don't know if i'm in focus. Its fine at home with a monitor but when travelling its a nightmare.
Are you sure you're not holding the menu button down? A quick tap should get you to the first menu and holding it down to the settings menu.
@@carlscinema7086 I managed to fix it. I went online and downloaded the update and it all seems to be there now
Glad it all got sorted 👍
Lol I don’t have the language settings and guides settings. What could this mean?
Not sure, do you know which firmware version you are on?
Carl's Cinema sorry, i just found out that my firmware was not up to date
Hi everyone, I'm trying to watch the footage on my black magic but for some reason it's playing it back at super speed without audio, any ideas on how to rectify this?
Sounds like you might have time lapse enabled
Can you put the shutter angle of the BMPCC into 360 degrees?
Yes
@@carlscinema7086 can I do 5fps w/ 360degs in the BMPCC? to achieve perhaps a Wong Kar Wai, step process look?
Hi. What about audio? Cant find anything on it
I talk about it briefly from 4:05 to 4:35 in the video. But the general opinion about the pre-amps of the Original BMPCC is that they don't sound very good, so if your audio is important I would recommend recording it externally.
what's about Iris button?
It does a simple auto iris when you press it, if you are using electronic lenses that is.
I get almost 3 hours on my 256gb in prores hq, and it cost less than 30 USD. Raw is a little tricky but yeah I will look into those other cards eventually. Thanks again for getting back to me.
Hi man, i tested Kingston Canvas select plus, Its very, very good alternative for old Sandisk extreme pro.
This card has a low price and works reliably for RAW 30p. I also tested it on BMMCC for 50P (Raw 3: 1). It is perfect for BMPCC. I have tested 128GB and 256GB
Ludek Aschenbrenner Can you link me a site where i could find it? I have this camera for now 2 months, and i cannot have any shot from it because of this issue

Hi, how are you?
unfoirtunately I need some help, I recently buyed a bmpcc original, I tried with different sd card but my footage is choppy, like it is recorded at 10 fps, I can't figure out the issue, have you some tips? thx a lot, cheers
Is the playback choppy if you play it back in the camera aswell? Or just on the computer?
Make sure timelapse is set to off. I shot a whole birthday party like that once, because I forgot I shot a sunset using timelapse the previous time I used the camera. Took me forever to figure out what the heck was going on.
@@carlscinema7086 I can' t figure out how can I play it on camera...
Pressing the play button on the top of the camera should get you in to playback mode
@@carlscinema7086 thx a lot, it can be that my card reader is corrupted? it ruins my sd card and is a cheap one
Why does my menu look different?
Whenever I press the menu it goes straight to the camera settings
My guess would be that you might have an older firmware version, try updating the firmware.
I'll try it out, thanks
Helo my friend. Please sayme why update?
Do you mean why you should update or which firmware version this is?
Mine is completely different. I think i got some kind of a ripoff
Do you mean you have a differently deaigned user interface? If so, you have a different firware version. No idea which one he uses, no idea what I have, you look it up with blackmagic update tool thingy
why don't you tell people how to turn the camera on. Isn't the at the first thing to do?
Update 7.9 bricked my BMPCC4K. any suggestions?
