Russian Federation is nothing compared to the USSR. Their development in science and technological advancement were astonishing. Only in the 70s they lagged behind US in chip manufacturing. But if Stalin like leadership was there in till 80s, USSR wouldn't have collapsed, and they would have already made advanced chips than US. Meanwhile for 30 years, Russian fededation did nothing remarkable other than sell gas in huge quantities.

Not really, considering that Soviet Union had no rent, strict limits on food costs, and cheap, affordable healthcare. Also worth pointing out that a very large portion of Modern Russian GDP is just oil money held by oligarchs, while the Soviets had a very low inequality rate

It's interesting how Putin seems very dislike Lenin but very fond of Stalin's Soviet Union. As Stalin were able to do Lenin and Tsar Russia could not. Capture Warsaw, control eastern Europe, defeat the Japanese, revenge of the Russo-Japanese war. And made the Soviet Union a superpower, and so Putin dismissing Lenin numerous times.

The GDP portion is actually the most important one as it represents the economic potential. And the worst part for Russia is really the GDP per-capita (E.g. per person). Even Czechia as their old communist satellites has today twice as large GDP per capita than Russia, despite Russia having as much oil/gas than Saudis.
