    Cross dressing isn't considered trans in Japan, but more of a fashion hobby subculture. People cross dress there because, as this anime says, they like how cute or cool dressing up as the opposite sex looks like, but they do not actually identify as the opposite sex or are homosexual. The risk of bringing something like this to western audiences is how they are prone to misunderstand this and try to make it about politics and beliefs, which almost all the time, isn't the original author's objective.

    • @thwartificer
      @thwartificer Месяц назад +54

      The author's objective is lost as soon as art is released into the world, as everyone's interpretation of it is subjective and biased due to their preferred ways of thinking, experiences and personal tastes, and I don't think this should be fought against

      No one said it to be trans thing, but rather something within a wider spectrum of LGBT+ movements trying to fought over, rejecting the confined understanding of gender norm and role as it had been made for both side of sex, as male has to be masculine while female has to be feminine.

      This really raises the question for me, what exactly is the purpose of the concept of gender? It always felt so useless in my opinion. I don't really understand what makes a person a boy or a girl, apart from their body, like, what, on a mental level, should we consider a boy's mind and a girl's mind (or another gender I dunno). Liking cute things makes you feel like a girl? Liking sports and stuff makes you feel like a boy? Using specific pronouns makes you feel a specific way? Dunno, everything seems so wrong, like, people should be allowed to do whatever they want (as long as it doesn't harm anyone) without having the need to put themselves in little boxes or try to find an explanation for whatever they're feeling, but I guess that's just how our society is built so there isn't really much we can do, the gender concept has caused so much harm not only nowadays, but also in the distant past.

    I love how this show portrays this. Its about the boy and his preference of clothing. But it doesnt compromise his sexuality. It doesnt ignore the parents opinion. (Yeah, we care. Some of actual Lgbt are not interested of being a part of a war, or even be enemies of our beloved parents, even if they dont agree).
    Doubt is there (which is completely realistic an not transphobic).
    Its about the boy himself not about some stpid political war.

    Bruh both sides on the comments either didn't finish the video or didn't understand the meaning of the video. It's about the guy struggling to dress up to be something cute cause people around him (except mc) can't understand he likes dressing up feminine. But people on the comment section making it about the lgbt community, both pro and anti, the former looking too much in this and dictating the guy's gender despite him not mentioning it, and the latter too triggered watching a guy wanting to dress up as a girl. In the end, he likes to wear cute things, and he accepted it right in the end when they swapped clothes with the mc. That's all.

    The anime is basically about ( its ok to like things regardless of one gender ) 🌟 then there are parents who have a hard time accepting they wonder ,why is my child like this ? ,why is my child different ? (The society has made standards for these genders) Can't parents just accept that their child is just unique, theres nothing wrong with them as long as the child is happy,

    • @akira8393
      @akira8393 Месяц назад +47

      Yeah, for a parent to see your kid all of sudden wanting to be a girl. Yeah no shit it's gonna break them. This isn't unique, there are feminine dudes but for a parent to see your kid all of sudden refuse what he was born. That hurts like hell. Unless a parent doesn't give a fuck about you, they wouldn't be happy in the slightest but put up a smile for their kid's sake. It's not easy to just kick the child out in their life like that, considering that's the lid they raised so hard for.
      The anime is not wrong when it comes to wanting to live how you want. But know that living with only the mentality hurts people around you without you knowing. I for the life of me can't live with seeing my parents cry. I already disappointed them enough as I'm no doctor whatnot. Watching them cry, I can't process that. But hey this is the generation where we say fuck you mom!

    • @so12productions
      @so12productions Месяц назад +33

      @@akira8393honestly it really depends, why should I care if my family hates me for liking something? It would be different if I was doing something illegal or something like smoking (body hurting addictions) but if it's simple as liking to cross dress or sleeping in bed with a teddy bear then they can keep crying.
      It's especially different if the person is admitting something they can’t control, like being trans or gay. If the parents are worried because of the hatred their kid may face then that's understandable. However, if they see it as a betrayel to them and are against the idea is when I say it's a problem.
      I have no idea how your family treats you, but if you want to make them happy then I'm assuming they care about you deeply. Sadly, many families are abusive and would disown their kids if they happen to be different, those families deserve no respect since they don’t care about their kid's wellbeing.

    • @akira8393
      @akira8393 Месяц назад

      @@so12productions just like you said, it's not a big deal for parents for kids have weird hobbies like cross dressing or sleeping with a teddy bear and all. Now when it comes to asian countries, your kinda like a pride for the parents you know. what you are reflects on the parents, which is why parents always pressure kids to be this absolute perfection you know? you might hate it but that's just the natural stigma unless you disconnect your ties with your families. in japan, parents can replace kids with adopted ones.
      a child is a parents pride, like i said unless you have the shitty parents that don't give a shit about you. they'll let you be slut and still don't care. i think i was looking at reddit or facebook where a mom was shamed because of the son turned to be trans. for the dude, he doesn't give a fuck but his mom gets all the shit for it. It just really painful to me hearing her having to isolate herself because of her son. Hearing her saying how she raised her as a son and all only to just burn away i couldn't help myself. but hey it doesn't matter i guess how others are infected with it, it's always a me thing i guess.
      I live in a place where unless you have a big career and all, you are like a disappointment, especially for the only kid that's not drugged in delulu land, it's saddens me when my parents already lost hope for me. that's irrelevant to the trans thing so i don't wanna talk about it.

  • @kladius8045
    @kladius8045 Месяц назад +32

    The comment section is already weird enough so I hope you won't mind me saying what's on my mind. IMO, I don't think this stuff is about trans nor lgbt-whatever-alphabets-come-after-those community. It's basically about a guy wishing for his desire to be fulfilled. He knows all well that his desire is unusual and even considered abnormal by society norm but like every one of us, we all have desires society might consider abnormal but if the society tells you to give up on that desire and be "normal", would you rather do as society told you to or would you try your best to fulfill your desire? The MC's choice appears to be the latter to me and I hope it will stay like that. That's all this story is about to me, I couldn't care any less whether the MC is trans or whatever you guys want to think, the main message I got from watching this is "sometimes it's ok to be unusual, as long as that is what your heart truly desires".

    • @tiferet2820
      @tiferet2820 Месяц назад +3

      Which is like the whole point of lgbt+ narrative. Pride in the desires that society shuns despite ultimately hurting no one.
      What's happening here is that a lot of people seem to want that for themselves, but not for anyone or anything else they personally consider weird. Which is why we're seeing a lot of people preaching the above while shunning those with a different interpretation.

      My brother, do you not know the demographic of this manga? It is definitely about gender non-conformity. How is it not? Hundreds upon hundreds of shoujo manga (at least the shoujo manga I've read) are usually built like this. And with the growth of it, people seem to cherry pick their cases for their arguments. I suggest reading more manga with the same theme before firing out an opinion of this caliber.

Anyway, well I kinda understand stuffs about doing things outside of gender norms in shounen or shoujo manga. It’s just, well dunno how to put it, I don’t want it to gets mixed up with trans and stuffs so I wanna focus more on personal desire. Btw about cherry picking, I mean humans are random and vastly different from each other so you can expect at least 1 human to hate something other humans love out of the blue. If you write a story and everyone in the world love it, I can wholeheartedly declare that you are no human, brother. Respect and thanks for your opinion, will try to read more. Trans woman here. Interesting comment section. People will deadass say this show isn't a queer anime and Makoto's story is unrelated to gender identity and is just about them liking cute things, whereas the show has joyful illustrations of gender euphoria in episode 2 and vividly emotional depictions and explorations of gender dysphoria is episode 3 that laser pinpoints and mirrors and represents the lived experiences of trans people. And the show is having a huge arc about Ryuji's coming to fully recognize and accept his feelings for Makoto and the exploration of that queer relationship. In episode 7's flashback Ryuji's fear of homophobia is instilled with the kids bullying the side character for liking Makoto, which he constantly thinks back on and is scared to bring upon himself by accepting his feelings.
    And for Makoto... DAWG in episode 7 at 6:47 the word "Transgender" is literally at the top of the screen (トランスジェンダー) as Ryuji is actively taking steps to learn about queer political issues. You don't literally have the word "Transgender" as well as deadass, explicit, straight-up, big-ass-text-filling-up-the-entire-screen-you-cant-miss-it references to political activism in favor of queer people, if you're making an anime that's supposed to be totally unrelated to queer people and is just a guy liking cute things, and nothing more.
    This show isn't queer, my ass. All three of the MCs are queer. Ryuji is gay, Makoto is probably non-binary genderfluid, and Aoi is probably bi and aro. On the contrary, this show is one of the most seriously earnest and moving depiction of queer identities and struggles in an anime I've seen, utterly absent of any fake fujoshi anime bullshit queer people stereotypes.
