Walter Browne was not always a gentleman when he lost. Walter was about to lose and his opponent was about to Queen a pawn. In mutual time pressure Walter picked up his opponents' extra Queen and threw it across the tournament hall. I think George Koltanowski forfeited him.
Ivanchuk is a totally crazy guy. He losses 5 games on time just to beat a player like Kramnik in a situation like that... Now in Greece he totally outplayed his opponent to loose a 100% winning position with a series of blunders in severe time trouble :)
Fun fact: I go to a chess club in Irvine, CA run by NM Joe Hanley. Hanley will sometimes be away for a tournament and his friend John Marble will run the club for a day or so. I remember bringing up Yasser Seirawan to Mr. Marble and he actually said that he knew Seirawan and has had multiple conversations w/ him! What a small world, isn't it?
This game was heart-breaking. Vladimir would have never have played the Pirc if a draw was enough (I mean, who thought Carlsen would lose with White??) If they had a rapid playoff instead of the ridiculous tie-break on "points", Kramnik would have not played the Pirc, and he would have drawn the game and won the Candidates. Instead, they end up tied and because Carlsen loss more game (and wins) he gets to play Anand. Ugh. I hope they never again decide a candidate based on "tie-break points" Why not settle it over the board? I mean, a G30 only takes an hour!! Hell, make it blitz. Anything but this. That said... Carlsen is a stud and clearly #1.
Ok,pause on 35:10 .What about Bd7 takes on A4,after rook retakes,Nf6 takes on e4 and Queen cant recapture because it hangs the bishop on c5,which at this point would also be a fork of the Queen and rook,winning (I think) for black.Tell me where i am wrong please.
I bet Yasser rarely lost on time, but I don't know for sure. Suttles was a very friendly GM who was glad to show his games. Suttles had an odd style at that time (Suttliana) and some referred to him as "Drunken" Suttles.

I assume you beat Patrick Wolff. Experts in New England in my era played the Brooklyn kid (Caruana) and used the "kids"strategy against Patrick Wolff as all the youngsters were anxious to attack us old Experts so the kids strategy was sometimes equal to the task. Not for me though I did manage to beat Patrick, Joel Benjamin, and Rocky (Fedorowicz), in speed chess when they were teens when Benko was quoted as saying that with your long hair you looked like a girl, Yasser?!?
Kramnik did not deserve to qualify after getting a point from Grischuk, half a point from Aronian and possibly a point from Radjabov. Shirov would also scream "Karma"! Kudos to Ivanchuk for beating Kramnik and to Seirawan for the excellent video!
Kramnik should have played on. Magnus would have in his position. Ivanchuk is known for his erratic play. Magnus beat Radjabov by playing on in dead drawn ending and made Radjabov blunder the game.

If Bd7 takes on a4, instead of recapturing the bishop immediately with the rook, what if white plays Bc4 takes Ne6 first?
