Some people say Cruise overplayed his part as a young pool hustler. But I know several young guns who act this way. I remember one who said, "You don't have a chance against me" before our match in a local tournament. I took $100 off of him in a side bet that night.
I remember being this age back in 1989, and a small-time pool hustler, and many of us acted exactly like this; just pure, cocky, idiots. When I saw this movie I was 15 years old. I went to the local pool halls, exactly as you see here, learned from some really great old-timers. It was good times back then. Live rock-band bars, with awesome music, and a few pool-tables at the back of the bar where you can really show your stuff. Pool halls will cool; lots of gambling back then.
absolutely set ups...want worse? Check out "PoolHall Junkies." Rick(y) Schroeder has nothing but 8" straight ins....crap. Mars Callahan looks legit though with his shots.
The scene where Ton Cruise breaks after being given the Balabushka cue from Paul Newman cracks me up. You'd never break with a cue like that, it's too valuable and you don't break with your shot cue. Players of this capability always break with a separate cue.
i shoot with a 2,000 meucci and i break with it. i wouldn’t have spent the money i spent on it to just shoot with it. i bought it for a reason and that was to play with it. and when i break i do the same thing in all honesty it just looks badass
His hair was perfect.
a woo...werewolves of London...
2 awesome actors !!!

He played the part perfect
I play university level tournament at the moment and most young pool players that are any good carry the same attitude.
You're such a badass, joe van!
Psssh. You probably took $100 for polishing his cue, you lip locker. He probably sank his 2-ball in your mouth pocket.
A hundred?...big deal...run it back again
and again player.
I'd like to meet his tailor.
Great movie! I liked the way he switched hands and looked like he was going to shoot last shot one handed
One thing that's underrated about Vincent is that he's ambidextrous and can shoot both left/right handed equally well.
Great....Scorsese´s Style cinematografia perfect in this movie
0:19 yikes that bend
IM IN LOVE WITH TC
Paul should have made a sequel where he taps Vincent's girlfriend.
The Color Of Honey.
Don't you mean The taste of Honey !
@@sharms888 No, that Peaches and Herb
by Keyser Soze
I wonder if he could take the guy from pool hall Junkies
In the opening shot Vincent's cue really bends a lot when he leans on it on the table , is this normal?
1:24 The “look away” trick shot.
First pool video I’ve seen that doesn’t have a “Those pockets are like buckets” comment from a snooker player. LOL.
I can respect snooker pool players. Those pockets are really tiny.
I love how ever shot is just a simple ( usually straight) stop shot or the balls are over the pockets
absolutely set ups...want worse?
Check out "PoolHall Junkies."

I like how tom cruise always plays position where all he has to do is a stop shot. Lol
when vince smiles at you, youre in big trouble......................
Cruise's parody character lessened the movie.
Great movie...
Tom cruise practiced pool for months he became an average shooter
You practice commenting for years. You still suck sour buttermilk.
Ha! I'd like to meet his taylor

1:06 Definitely scratching here with the cue ball centre pocket
Not even close, it was about 6 degrees off. Hit the rail between the two pockets and sat roughly at the same spot as a break cue.
Can't play pool and I admit.
Greatness
Yes Doom balabushka invesible
What the hell does on the snap meen?
That means he says he's going to make the 9 on the break

Which explains Tom Cruise's character's ignorance.

$2,000*
Your probably right, but it's still cool. The whole movie is cool.... You need too turn a blind eye too small details :)
If you search info about the film, you’ll find that it was not balabushka. Real balabushka was too expensive for this movie. It was some other cue.
The no look shot at the end was a serious cut but when he pockets it in the next clip, he’s lined up as straight as an arrow🧐
More importantly, he's also shooting completely out of order.
Haha. Didn’t even notice
@@TOThePointpodcast Right on !!!
2:04 isn't he about to shoot a ball out of order?
Thynqikan no
Thynqikan No. When Vince starts, the remaining balls are 4-9. Vince pots the 4, then moves on to the 5.
For some odd reason the 5 ball repositioned itself before he shoots..Lol
@@timbomiller855 yeah lol, he got bad on that five

Anyone know the song at 0:22??
I think that's "Who owns this place ?" by Don Henley
does anyone know the name of the song at
0:29 seconds in?
That would be Percy Sledge with "Out Of Left Field (Single)"

pool is easy big hole
So are you
He plays pool the way I do it. Only I have music on my headset... easier to zone out the people in the bar that way!!
Same. Idk how people play without music
Alot of places won’t let you wear headphones during money matches or during tournaments
Damn good film. Liked Newman with Cruise. Oh how I wish they would make movies like this again.
Enough with the bulging muscle hero garbage.
O:17 mistake?
