- A couple weeks ago it was the unlucky seven. Now, it's the crazy eight. Valley restaurants have kept health inspectors busy and it's a new record this week on Dirty Dining.
Lol they kill me when they be pretending not to know english when they're speaking english just fine.

I drove taxi on weekends in Toronto years ago while attending college. Received a radio call to pick up a food order at a Chinese restaurant on Danforth Ave. As I waited by the side kitchen door for the order, I saw 2 Chinese workers use a pail right beside a crate of vegetables as a urinal. Lots of "splashing." When done, they just "gave it a shake," zipped up and went back to cooking. No had washing. I left without the order and contacted my dispatcher and told him why. He called the customer who was grateful. I contacted the City Health Department Monday morning.

“Wo Fat” just doesn’t sound like an appetizing name for a restaurant.
I haven't tried it, but I hear the food is very tasty at Wo Fat's. is just a Chinese name. In Sacramento a fancy Chinese restaurant near the capitol is called Frank Fat's. I have had the food there and it's excellent.
I've worked in a couple of restaurants - you wouldn't believe the conditions in which your food is prepared.
And they sported A ratings.

Honestly, some large business need to shut down but as the saying geos money talks
A good step forward is to start firing everybody who is responsible for letting this kind of thing to continue & pose a real risk in terms of being allowed to start arresting the people who is the owner and running the restaurant after they failed to comply with the issues and doesn’t even look like they’re even trying. By doing this, they’ll definitely stop with the BS about “we no speak English” or “sorry no English” & ignoring the media about it. If they can’t be bothered, they should be arrested for not bothering to care about the health & safety concerns of the public and needed to be treated as a potential criminal.
Best way is to cook your own food to assure clean and healthy.

The worst thing is when the "chef" who run the kitchen, its very often doing crossed contamination, from the storage to the kitchen. And he does not accept criticism about his job.
I don't even go to the Chinese 🏮 restaurant no more , I just make my own shrimp 🍤 fried rice 🍚 & 🍤 rolls at home , at least I know what's in it

Here's another one. My late father was a meter reader for the Toronto electric utility. This was "back in the days" when all meters were inside and in basements. He always had horror stories about the filth in Chinese restaurants. He saw, over the years in these dumps live rats, mice and insects crawling over crates of vegetables, dead rats and mice, floors covered with rat and mouse sh*t, insects crawling on walls, overflowing toilets, cockroaches everywhere and even a couple of dead cats. He always assumed that the cats were the next day's Chef's Special. True story!

Here in Melbourne Australia too, through 20years of been around all restaurants, i have seen the worst of worst in all struggling or mediocre Asian restaurants with lots of rats running while dining or cockroaches on the way to bathroom, see frozen food just kept outside and water oozing out to get defrosted on floors. When asked Owners , they always said, They need to pay high wages for kitchen staffs and front + heavy rent and bills and tax, so they couldn't afford to keep up to pay extra for cleaning on daily basis and they do only when Council inspection arrives to check every 6 months once here but still fails to pass.. Sad

They should check out Vallarta Supermarket where I worked at the crmara is rotten chicken salad macaroni salad potato salad rice pudding is rotten the store director knows but they don't care

Maybe if the Wo Fat manager doesn’t understand what spoiled food is, she shouldn’t be serving any kind of food at all. No more Chinese or any other Asian restaurants for me. Their standards or should I say sub-standards are appalling. They only think $$$$. No wonder we are in the mess we are in at the moment.

The thinking is Chinese cooking often involves using high heat woks to cook so germs would be killed off by the high temperature. Chinese cooking is survival cooking with people constantly moving to escape war. Their ancestors had to scavenge whatever was available and cooked them in a wok in open fire. Freshness and sanitation are not a priority.

I've noticed that the major chains aren't usually mentioned in this feature. It seems to be the mom & pop local restaurants that have trouble with refrigeration & sanitation.

I got sick from eating at a pho restaurant. The meat tasted a little over but I didn't say anything. Then I got sick later. It's extremely important that these restaurants follow regulations. Your health depends on it.

Unfortunately trying doesn't equal doing. You pay with an expectation that the food will be safe, maybe not the best but safe. Some days when you are feeling under the weather, you probably have mild food poisoning.
The fact is that thee people stepped up to be a restaurateur. If they are just doing it to make money, then they will do whatever violations they feel like to make more money.
They should be fined and that money should be split with the cost of the inspectors and an education program. Make them go, with picture ID to verify who they are.
You can fine them, but show them how to fix it. If they decline, then you know they have no interest in being safe. Restaurants go under all the time and there is always working equipment available cheap.
The "poor me" story i growing thin. Over the years everybody else has stepped up and information is available everywhere. If it takes four positions to operate properly, you can't do it with two.
The advantage of being in the USA, is opportunity, and it can make you money. The other side is if you aren't willing to work for it, it will sink you.

Under the undercover investigation by federal agency, 60% of the time food inspectors fraudulently lie on their inspection. They are required by management to write any safety violation on paper to increase sanitation charge to property owner and also to recieve commission by the company. Especially in Los Angeles, New York and Massachusett.

Lots of Asian restaurants around the world wants to save a penny by cutting corners. I once work for a Chinese restaurant when I was in high school, they would train me to be a cook and if I drop the meat on the ground, they would just tell me to pick it up and prep it. All the staff and chef cooks their own food or bring their food from home. They don’t eat the restaurant menu because they know the produce to meat are not sanitize….that’s the truth.
Coming from a kitchen - the sewer stuff has nothing to do with lower employees and everything to do with the chef and goddamn management. If no one cares, the employees won’t - language barrier or not.

That's why you shouldn't eat out. Most of the restaurant are health hazard. The grade they want you to see don't meant anything. I went to a steak house before. Score was 89. But once inside. There was flies everywhere. The restroom smell like piss and there was poop on the side of the floor.

If you cannot accept it, don't go Chinese restaurant. It's the same problems happen in those business no matter in the states, Canada, hongkong or mainland China. I haven't eaten in Chinese restaurant for many years.

What sad and disgusting is, this kind of practice is very normal in asia, only the high end sometimes have a decent food hygine practice.
How i know all this, i've been working in food industries arround asia, restaurant, caffe, food truck, even bread and pastry shop, and unsafe mistake like this is not only common but normalize in asia.
My suggestions if you ever visit asia, find a restaurant with open kitchen concepts, its not perfect but it is the cleanest.
