Darby is probably the biggest success story to come out of AEW so far. The time limit draw was a brilliant idea to make Darby a made man without either having him lose his debut or go over Cody (which would have made people complain it's unrealistic). Not only is he a brilliant wrestler, he's a smart guy, because he knew EXACTLY what would happen to him if he'd signed with WWE instead- spend ages trapped in the performance centre, be given a new character with a name like "Brad Pain", forced to stop painting himself, skating and using the Coffin Drop as his finisher, probably have a decent run in NXT regardless, then get called up to the main roster and turned into a joke because Vince "doesn't get him". He's the premiere example of the value AEW brings to the industry by providing wrestlers with an alternative place to get mainstram exposure as _themselves,_ rather than as just the latest piece of manufactured WWE product. And Darby is guaranteed to be a future champion.
As soon as I heard Prince Puma wanted to leave Lucha Underground to go to WWE, I knew things would not go well for him, despite his amazing wellspring of talent (I think people overstate his supposed lack of mic skills). And oh look, I could not have been more right. LU was a small pond, but he was the top guy for the entire first season, and a major player for the next two. In WWE he won the NXT NA Championship, and has been an irrelevancy ever since he was called up. His biggest push since joining the main roster was just so they could have someone expendable for Brock to bury in Saudi Arabia. Darby knew better than that.
Dranzer Jetli global coverage? This is NOT prime wwe.... Nobody outside WWE fans know who these new wrestlers are... Hence WWEs constant use of legends to boost ratings.... They're NOT making new stars.
@@brokemarley Exactly, it's so sad. Luckily, other promotions that AREN'T WWE are starting to get known a bit more. WWE is probably the worst company to represent wrestling as a whole. I'd be much better off with NJPW being the top wrestling promotion that was worth $3,000,000,000 or AEW or NWA

That ladder match skate jump spot was criminally negligent and the bodybag with tacks spot of a couple weeks ago was just braindead because you didnt even see the bump anyway. He doesnt need to keep trying to outdo his last big high spot on every single ppv and AEW management is fucking stupid for letting him.
Heres what i tell people. Enjoy Darby Allen while hes still wrestling because its going to be short(2 years) BUT he will go down as one of the best wrestlers ever.
Yeah man that's what I'm saying.. these young guys doing these crazy spots and on that level of athleticism is cool but by the time they are like 40 or sooner.. their bodies are more likely to be so broken. Sometimes I feel the dangerous spots isn't really worth a huge pop because I care about their safety wether I like the wrestler it not 😳
@@SuperObvious the funny thing is that many of the top guys in the product don't do big spots or do them so rarely that they stand out. Jericho has basically never been injured by internalising that you just don't need to do the giant flippy bullshit and even at his peak health when younger he was rarely in the big ladder and cage matches and wasn't doing massive spots when he was. Mox is the top guy and only does the occassional dive and Omega and Page do them more often but all of them restrict them to super safe spots without an extra fizz on top to gimmick it further. MJF has made his lack of big spots a key part of his gimmick which will likely result in a very long injury free Jericho like career. I think there are times when a big spot helps a match and sells tickets etc (Cody from the cage is a highlight of the promotion because it fit the story perfectly not just because it was holy shit). But it shouldn't be your thing to try and produce a highlight reel for the dark side of wrestling. Fans genuinely don't need it and most don't even want these crazy spots week in week out because it kills the novelty. I still remember one of the Bucks with Stunt doing a top rope (not turn buckle) destroyer that required insane balance and support from everyone in the match to set up, I even think it was on Dynamite and not even a ppv, and JRs reaction sold how fucking stupid it was. It was literally a random spot in a random meaningless non title match that had no real feud around it and they hit something that had a super high chance to someone dying. I think that was even the match Omega attacked Stunt after the pin fall so took away from the actual point of the match and we haven't seen that spot shown since then. This is the stuff AEW needs to address for the long term of the product.
@@PhillipSievers I agree with you man. Chris Jericho is my fav wrestler in the world btw lol. But yeah I think doing certain spots should be used carefully and not all the time. I’m so glad I decided to watch Double or Nothing last year it introduced me to a whole new wrestling world I didn’t know existed. AEW has been pretty good and shows that there can be good wrestling outside WWE.

9:10 In case you didn't know who these two guys were in the front row, Fyter Fest coincided with the fighting game tournament Community Effort Orlando (CEO) 2019, and those two guys are legends in the world of the fighting game community. Justin Wong on the left has won countless international championships in games like Street Fighter and Marvel vs Capcom. The guy on the right, Michael Mendoza (IFC Yipes), is a commentator and tournament organizer in the east coast and said by many to be the voice of the fighting game community, and he's won some big tournaments too.
This guy is an example that you could be small and still make it successful outside of WWE. Alot of wrestlers in NXT could learn something. Especially guys like Ricochet.

Your commentary videos are great! May I make a suggestion for a future video: "How Dark Order (and Brodie Lee) is a positive example of believing in the process of long term booking" ?
Fantastic video, really really well done. I'd never heard of Darby before AEW, and I was a huge Cody fan. When I saw Darby though, feel into his camp full stop. Any time he's in the ring, I'm behind him all the way. I'm a Cody girl, I'm a Moxley girl, I'm a Jericho girl. Put them in the ring vs Darby though, I'm going for the man with half a face all the way. You've put up this analysis in a phenomenal way, to explain to those unaware, of the sheer magnetism, mystique, and presence he has. Yea, it's all performance at the end of the day, but Darby, I'd say, is the best of them all. Part style, part just a very different man, being himself, in an environment where individuality means more than anything else, the man with the skateboard stands atop them all. Subscribed, and bell active.
I hope they do something like that awesome time limit finish against Cody for CM Punk, like maybe Darby's been locked into the anaconda vice and is clearly in pain but isn't tapping out, then the time runs out :O I don't want Darby or Punk to lose
Even though his match with Cody was amazing and booking-wise was spot on, I only watched it sometime after getting into AEW when they first aired Dynamite's first several episodes. I knew Darby was something special when he and Chris Jericho had that Street Fight Match for the AEW World Championship. Jericho's first title defense after winning it at the first All Out. Yes, there was no way Darby was walking out of that with the belt, but they told the whole "Underdog going against all odds" so well with Darby's relentlessness as he just kept going and going, to the point where this man did a suicide dive WHILE his hands were cuffed with duct tape! So many memorable moments in that match alone and I've been behind Darby Allin ever since. Seeing where he's at now, I gotta say I'm so happy how far he's come.
i haven't updated myself on AEW for almost 2 years and just came back to catch up, the first time i saw Darby, i was like who da fook is dis guy? but somewhere in my mind i felt curious of his mysterious and unique vibe coming from him as Sting Approached and stared straight at him and also seeing him sitting in the crowds seat and the way he glances is very unique and suddenly feel a pull attraction to him and didn't know why my curiosity at the time as i did not knew his name yet.
Darby is one of those guys that get those CM Punk kind of reactions for a guy that never stepped in the WWE. Kudos to AEW for making this man a top guy. Ricochet is a moron for passing on the opportunity to work for AEW. He could’ve been a top star by now.
In retrospect looking back on this, Darby Allin is just cool. I didn't buy in at first but on top of him having Sting as a manager ( who would have thought that would work out ) he just has IT. I was also upset that Ibushi didn't sign with WWE back then but looking at it now, all these people like him and Darby that would have been thrown on 205 live would have been a waste of their precious time
When I was in high school I was like 180 and a skater that loved to paint my face like a skeleton at every show I went to.... I really wanted to be a wrestler.... seeing Darby makes me happy. I'm way too old these days.... I'm so glad that we've grown out of the era where everyone has to be at least 6'5" and 265 lbs.
This kid is absolutely crazy. He’s like a marriage of Foley and Jeff Hardy in insanity, I’m just hoping he takes care of himself more often for his career to last longer.
I think I liked him bc he reminded me of Jeff Hardy. Chris Jericho said the same thing that he reminds him of Jeff Hardy and Darby said he’s never heard of Jeff.
please make a video on all of the 5 star matches aew did you already covered one but could you mkae seperate videos on lucha bros vs the bucks the parking lot match between lax and best friend and of course cody vs dustin
This kids fucking badass but the second he took that missed apron coffin drop I realized Darby may end up addicted to pain meds in a wheel chair within a few years. He's pretty damn captivating but needs to dial back some of that brutality he's willing to take. I'd like him to have a full career where we can see him evolve into the legend he is born to be.
took cody to the limit, took jericho to the limit (with two hands tied behind his back), tag himself in during the 2 on 1 to fire up the crowd and the (mentor/father figure) moxley complex. he is one of aew biggest star right now

I hope they do something like that awesome time limit finish against Cody for CM Punk, like maybe Darby's been locked into the anaconda vice and is clearly in pain but isn't tapping out, then the time runs out :O
I don't want Darby or Punk to lose
I first seen Darby Allen at an N.E.W show as well. It was called prison break in Poughkeepsie NY. He was against Hale Collins.
Do a Ricky starks bro I'm new to your channel great video
do you have a twitter? these videos are so good! grew 100 subs just since finding you last night
Darby hits a Code Red like others hit a clothesline
i haven't updated myself on AEW for almost 2 years and just came back to catch up, the first time i saw Darby, i was like who da fook is dis guy? but somewhere in my mind i felt curious of his mysterious and unique vibe coming from him as Sting Approached and stared straight at him and also seeing him sitting in the crowds seat and the way he glances is very unique and suddenly feel a pull attraction to him and didn't know why my curiosity at the time as i did not knew his name yet.
Darby is one of those guys that get those CM Punk kind of reactions for a guy that never stepped in the WWE. Kudos to AEW for making this man a top guy. Ricochet is a moron for passing on the opportunity to work for AEW. He could’ve been a top star by now.
And 2021 happened. (Punk and darby)
In retrospect looking back on this, Darby Allin is just cool. I didn't buy in at first but on top of him having Sting as a manager ( who would have thought that would work out ) he just has IT. I was also upset that Ibushi didn't sign with WWE back then but looking at it now, all these people like him and Darby that would have been thrown on 205 live would have been a waste of their precious time
this guy takes me back to Jeff Hardy's old days.
Absolutely incredible match.
Dude I'm trying to get some work done, please stop making videos this good
👍🏾👍🏾🔥🥺 great video
Massive credit to Cody and AEW for this superstar.
You should do a video on Sammy Guevara ✨🐼
Love Darby he's awesome.
goddamn i fucking forgot how epic this was
Bro, one for Sammy Guevara please🙏🏻.
Can't wait till he gets the belt one day 🤛🏼👊🏼
This kids fucking badass but the second he took that missed apron coffin drop I realized Darby may end up addicted to pain meds in a wheel chair within a few years. He's pretty damn captivating but needs to dial back some of that brutality he's willing to take. I'd like him to have a full career where we can see him evolve into the legend he is born to be.
Love Darby. He's the best.
Yo that's yipes and justin wong in that crowd reaction
Jeff hardy vs Darby allin in a extreme rules match 🔥🔥🔥
Tranquilo is the mang!
Thank u RUclips algorithm
took cody to the limit, took jericho to the limit (with two hands tied behind his back), tag himself in during the 2 on 1 to fire up the crowd and the (mentor/father figure) moxley complex. he is one of aew biggest star right now
