this is probably one of few occasion, where Superman is truly portrayed, as the strongest there is.
@IStevenSeagal Sentinel is done even worse. He doesn't do anything but shoot a boxing glove, which isn't his style at all, he's acting like a standard GL, which he most certainly isn't.
@IStevenSeagal I think context is important here. Nobody of the JL tried to really hurt Clark. They wanted to restrain him, while he was firing all out on them.

There's no guarantee any of Batman's plans would work- but he would still have them for precisely this kind of situation, so it's not like he wouldn't have considered this.

With Alan Scott and Shazam there this should have been over really, really fast. Shazam can stand toe to toe with him and Alan should absolutely body Superman. Alan is one of the most underrated DC characters there is. The man makes a GL look like a bitch, and all his power is magic. All his constructs should treat Superman like anyone else. But he shoots a boxing glove... Who wrote this?
I was thinking the same about Captain Marvel (I refuse to call him "SHAZAM"); he was a far more popular character than Stuporman back in the day and vindictive DC authors have been making Captain Marvel pay for it. Captain Marvel should wipe the floor with the Kryptonian.
Shazam is almost as strong and almost as fast as superman himself, but why is he is so weak here? He should be able to gave a decent fight before going down.

You forgot to mention Martian Manhunter, which has been stated several times that Superman fears facing him. Yes, Superman is the most powerful in the League, but between Shazam, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Power Girl and Martian Manhunter can hold him back. The problem is that none of them really want to fight Clark.
