- This is a video showing how the xKey works on Xbox 360.
This allows you to load games of a USB Hard Drive without a disk.
We do have a retail copy of all games on our hard drive:

Damn wish I knew this back in the day
I had one and loved it. Actually still have it installed in my Xbox360, but I got it modded with RGH and the modder didn't remove it. It might still work. But to add to this video, you can play the original disc by hitting the eject button to power on the Xbox. This would disable to chip to play those disc. Also, it was safe to play your backups online. I never got banned. The only headache was the games were 8.5 gigs in file and they were isos. I think there was a tool to shrink them, but I never used it. But yes. Over 100 games on a 1 or 2 tb was great!
I still have my Xk3y with the remote. Jtag somewhere too lol. Worth a few bucks still.
How can i play original xbox games? I want to play physical OG xbox games but i cant get it to work. I uodated the system and i still cabt play the games. Can someone enlight me?
So would this let me download games online and play it on the Xbox without having to buy the game?

Hello , thanks for this video , I've bought a xbox 360 slim 4gb and i want name of a hard disk that will work on it ... I tried toshiba USB 3.0 extern but it doesnt show up , they said that i have to buy Western digital hard drive ! Is that true ? And how to get xkey ? Will this work on hard disk with 1to on space ?

You can use any hard drive you like, but USB 2.0 tend to work best, xkey can be picky and unreliable with loading USB 3.0 drives.
1TB is fine.
Can I normally use Xbox Live and update my console or am I restricted?
yes its safe to play online. just be sure to use good rips and dont play games early.
Wonder how to get games for it? Do people sell their hard drives full of games? Or do you just down load them from a site (legal games of course)

I Loaded Halo 3 but it says "to play this disk, Put it into an xbox 360 console" what?
How do you load the discs again with this? I forgot how to use all this. I cant seem to get discs loaded anymore
Start ur 360 with the eject button to by pass the Xkey and use ur cds

Cristiano Bernardo no you do not it can all be controlled from Xbox menus. Just like in the video. No controller was connected when I did the video.
Cristiano Bernardo controller just gives you a list of games and lets you quickly change games. Also allows you use your phone to change games but that requires the wifi adapter as well. Honestly you don't need either as Xbox menu works great once you do it a few times it's simply to change games quickly.
Coolshrimp Modz since you answered this in 2017. I really want this to back up my disks. Do we need the controller/adapter to dump the rom/ISO? I assume Xk3y has this function off the menu? Thank you.
Tom Knows xkey cannot dump your games. It simply loads the .iso files from a USB drive.
If I remember right you will need a special DVD drive or to convert an old Xbox drive and install it in your pc. And then use a program like Xbox 360 backup creator or wxripper.

You can make this, because you changed the xkey.cfg File,you make MENUISO=Y , i am right ? Where do you storage this xkey.cfg File, i can't find it on my External Storage and not on the micro SD in the Xkey. But everthing is working with Remote and i will working it over dashboard? May you can help me ?
I have an xkey installed fat xbox 120gb. Now my dvd drive has failed for some reason (i think the drive board is not powering up). I have firmware.bin file on sd card only. Can I buy a new drive and use this firmware.bin to make the xbox working again? Have you done it before? I believe its a benq drive.
+Hsp Hsp yes you will use that firmware file to get the DVD key. and just flash that onto the new DVD drive.
Do not lose that FILE!! or you will have to RGH to retrieve the dvd key.
+Coolshrimp Modz thanks for replying. This is the first time I will be doing this. Is there any video link that you recommend and which serves my purpose? Which shows how to use firmware.bin. I will be using xbox to power and have ordered a PCI Via sata 6421 card.
i bought a 360 slim with xkey but mixed media disc doesn't pop up. its just set up with a dvd menu. how do i get it to say mixed media disc?
is hard drive formatted correctly? are games in a games folder
also do you have config file in root directory?
+Coolshrimp Modz yeah everything is set up correctly the last owner has all the games on a DVD menu that could be why I can't get mixed media to work

Format HDD as "ntfs".
Create a folder labeled "games" on root.
Put ISO in the games folder.
Plug into console and hit eject
Do you know if its possible to download dlc's using xkey? from my googling it seems like the answer is no but i want to be sure :)
I believe you can but you have to edit the iso and add the dlc/title update/xex into the iso.

@@milokv do RGH3 100% if you want online get a second console. And if you want you can backup the KV (Online Serial) and load. Then load a fake one to protect from ban. Can restore it at anytime. There’s also fake live built into xebuild to block Xbox servers and prevent any bans.

+Amaraa G can update games yes, you cannot copy game disk directly to the hard drive thru the console, you will have to get a moddified drive to copy disk to hard drive with a PC.
how do you get the on screen Game UI
You eject disk to load virtual disk then open music player and navigate to virtual disk (games)
@@CoolshrimpModz never knew you could do this ive been loading games from the xkey screen itself. maybe mine is an older version or something?
@@blek4922 the first units you could get with or without the screen. So if you didn’t have a screen you had to use the menus.

You can use Jtag/RGH as well.
Can I rename the iso files? E.g my Walking Dead GOTY is called ins-wdgoty can I change it to walking dead?

Chinh4thepro it will depend on what console you need to get your dvd key, so if you have an older console it’s easy to read it from the dvd drive. But on newer ones the key cannot be obtained this way, so you’d have to Jtag/RGH to get the key.
Now I usually say if you have to do the Jtag/RGH just keep it as an RGH Jtag much more options for it.
Xkey was popular as you could load backups and still go online. But that was all.

You will need a different mod (RGH/JTAG)

Not sure I never tried but I’d imagine you can as long as there on the Xbox official compatibility list.

What file type should the games also be? like rar, iso or just as a folder?
@@kryptanite6892 The hard drive should be formatted to NTFS. Make a folder called ‘games’ on the root of the hard drive. All your ISO files go into this folder.
i have one but my xbox when i want to use it without a hard drive it gives me the ring of the death how do you fix it
Does it work on my console that has the Winchester board?
You need to be able to extract the dvd-key either from the drive, or using Jtag/RGH on the motherboard.
@@CoolshrimpModz Update, my console is flashed with LT 3.0. Does that mean I can use the xkey, as irc to flash my tray one would need the dvd key?

@@renanmonteiro316 I don’t but did you do the original flash? If not does the original modder have a copy of the files? If not you will need some extra tools/programmer for the extraction.

Yes but it’s easier to get another model.
Your model will require you to Jtag the console to get your required dvd key for it to work.
If your installing Jtag you might as well just keep it as a Jtag it can do same thing as xkey and more.
Other models the dvd key can be extracted directly from the dvd drive.

bbjy yes if you can find the chip. And you don’t need RGH. But you will need to read your dvd key. Some consoles the xkey can do this automatically.
I assume it probably won't automatically read on the Xbox 360 E huh? Just since it's the newest one I think.

Neither is better, each have a different use.
Xbox 360 Mods
Flash - play backups off a disk(online safe)
RGH - play backups off a hard drive, run emulators, mod games, much more(need online bypass)
Xkey - play backups off a hard drive (online safe)

when i launch those game it sais: "you need an xbox 360 hard drive in order to play this game".
ThePooKing ok so you have a 4GB console im guessing you will need either a 16GB USB or a 250GB Microsoft hard drive as the games need to install some content that is larger then your consoles memory. this is a different drive then the one connected to the xkey holding your games. as the console cannot access and save to the xkey drive.
no i have a 250GB console but i can't use that space i can only use my 1TB hard drive space.

+PeapleAreAwsome MODZ he's correct you can do ISO mods only. But very few games can be modded that way. To properly mod games you will need RGH like stated above.

+Little Ham/Porkchop yes but depending on model it's a bit of a process to get the DVD key in order to program it.
May need to RGH first to get the DVD key then restore to stock. Or if you don't play online just keep it as an RGH and forget the xkey.
