- Remember, TOOOL is very possibly the only vendor table that you'll see at DEFCON where money you spend on cool lockpicking gear gets reinvested 100% back into the hacker community! TOOOL is a 501(c)3 nonprofit and I'm always happy to support them.
This awesome padlock will be for sale at DEFCON but it's also in the TOOOL Equipment catalog online if you can't wait until you arrive in Vegas to get your hands on them!...

Yeap... Giveaway sign up link is broken or something. I've reached out to the hosting provider to see if they changed some server side configuration.
When it rains it pours so i guess I'll wait to win yours lol

what a nice lock you have there
Thank you for all the amazing work you did creating it!
@@DeviantOllam created is a strong word, but I'm proud of this outcome nonetheless.
I may have been second in this posting, but this Padlock is absolutely number one in my book! Keep up with the awesome Ideas and stay safe!
I love the idea from Paclock making an actuator that doesnt need a tail piece on the KIK cylinder.. Very smart ! I love it !
Oh man this is perfect, I love picking in hand and have a bucket full of cylinders. It's not as much fun picking in a vice or a 3D-printed housing, but the shackle pop sold me! Too bad the ones they have now don't have bad kerning, I want bad kerning :) Update, I just got one of the First Editions with BAD KERNING, awesome!
If you buy one before we sell out today (could be minutes), you will have bad kerning :D
also yeah this is a product we developed to solve that exact problem, it's something I've wanted for over a decade for myself personally. so nice to carry around one of those bank bags full of kik cylinders and a padlock, great for air travel even. confuses the absolute H E C K out of the TSA
e.e
So you're the one hoarding the cylinders. I only have a couple hundred myself.
@@htomerif Ha ha, I was fortunate enough to become friends with the company locksmith. He helped me out early on in my picking journey and gifted me a box of SC1 cores, some mastered, some standard. It worked out really well!
@@Madlintelf I'm tryna get my hands on a bilock kik so I can 1) test and see if it's compatible with the kiklock, and 2) have just an unreasonably high security aluminum-body padlock (I guess that just makes it a highly effective tamper seal?)
@@Madlintelf I managed to find a lot of them on ebay from when locksmiths were recoring whole universities and things. Now people are scalping no-key cores for $10 to $20 a piece.
I love the Paclock KiK padlocks. Nice to have a Toool branded one!
Woooooo! Great job to those in TOOOL that were in on the collaboration with Paclock 🔥 Thanks for sharing Dev
♥
I was able to get one when they first appeared on the webstore.
Good news there is 34 available right now
That's awesome!
That's an awesome lock I was using one last week to show people how to pick locks
I'm thinking that if this is strictly for locksport, can't you do a version where the set screw is exposed when the shackle is locked. If a newbie borks a cylinder somehow and jams the lock, you got a nice paperweight if you can't get to the set screw to release the cylinder.
this is already something we're working on, but on the fence about releasing it as a product. it's just an aluminum body lock, so with a drill and a cheapo tap and a steady-ish hand you can just....do that yourself :D
I had the same thought. Not sure about the mechanism, but a hex screw to unlock the shackle might be an option.
Sold out in 6 hours. lol Would be nice to see TOOOL also sell various lock inserts, one stop shopping.
If you look carefully at the options, there is at least one cylinder type still for sale. We're gonna restock within the next couple days though
we have some more in stock now, (second edition locks) though supplies are pretty limited
Great lock!!!!
Very cool!!!

Wow that’s a nice looking toool 😂👍🏻🤩
Nice!
Nice
Ok, this is very cool. Hopefully I'll be at DC to score one. And failing that, I guess I can always just order one, haha.
Very similar to the Lockwood 334B45 padlock series, although they still have a slightly different tail piece.
Unfortunately the Lockwood still requires a tailpiece to be installed in the cylinder (just like the Kryptonite/Schlage KS23, the American A3600, the Abus 83 series, the Master 5800 Pro series, all of which I've tried and had the same problem). The TOOOL Kiklock is different, because the tailpiece here is held within the padlock body, and no tailpiece needs to be installed in the cylinder. That means you can swap between different cylinders easily with no need to push on retainer pins and risk launching them into low earth orbit. This is particularly helpful for people who are less experienced or dexterous, but I still find it extremely convenient despite over a decade of experience. Considering that all of those locks (except the Abus 83 series) are over $30 retail, I believe this lock punches above its weight if you are buying it for this purpose.
That being said, The Lockwood 334 series are some very attractive locks, and probably a bit higher security than this 1/4" shackle aluminum-body padlock.
The only issue i have with buying picks, or accessories from the US is the fact that i live in Canada. The government already takes enough of my money for taxes, and duty fee's suck. ...fill in the blank there.
Cool product, looks nice, hope everyone is taking care
That is a problem we run into frequently. I would recommend you reach out to one of our Canadian chapters, as they can place group orders from us. That cuts down on shipping costs significantly, while supporting the local chapter directly with part of the proceeds. TOOOL Toronto is particularly active as of late.
@@hipu i had no idea there was one in Toronto. Thank you for that knowledge. I will certainly look into it.
@@ryanwilson_canada They can be found on Meetup at the moment, I believe they have a meeting this coming Wednesday evening.
I'll look into it. I don't currently use meetup. Doesn't mean i don't have to. Lol. Thank you again for the helpful information. Toronto is a bit far for a road trip from me. Roughly 17 hours drive. I live in atlantic canada. I do have to go to the gta somewhat soon though. For other reasons.
Second, would have been first but went to buy lock first.
I do Abus 83 with the KIK (“KNK”) converter. The tailpiece delete on yours is super clever though
the 83 tailpiece always drove me up the wall, this one is so much easier to deal with. i just travel with a bag of kik cylinders and one or two of these padlocks
Would this plus the progressive set of cylinders be what you recommend for beginners, or is there a better place to start?
Highly recommend the progressive sets. They're high quality and can be repinned. I was put off by the price at first and learned on random locks. Having hundreds into this hobby now, I wish I had just invested in the progressives and saved myself about a year of learning curve.
@@user-bv8dc3xj7n thanks for the info!

AAAAAnnnnndddd sold out.

Will the Fire Plug works on these for a demo? Or do we still have to take apart a regular lock?
Does this accept SFICs? Guessing not but maybe you can advise me.
I have a bag of Best SFICs that i bought off ebay and decoded about 5 yrs ago because that’s how turbo i was back then. I decoded them had the master and change keys made from the bitting I calculated from measuring the pins and wafers, keys worked, locksmith offered me a job on the spot, told her nope I’m just a sleepless manic nerd, and I never ‘smithed’ again. Anyway, I had an Abus lock body that was supposed to accept SFICs but maybe these are too old? They didn’t fit. I would love to get one that takes Best SFICs.
Nope. There are tons of locks on the market that take SFICs. Abus 83 series "IC" padlocks come to mind, though there are many others. The plug on KiK/KiL cylinders is generally 0.500" (aka precisely half an inch), whereas the plug on SFIC cylinders is around 0.430" (substantially less than half an inch). SFIC housings also have two rods that extend into the plug, which acts as a tailpiece, thus they are not plagued by the problem that KiK/KiL cylinders have, the problem that this padlock solves.
correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t the Abus ABU-83KnK/45 basically the same concept for less or a LockVoy freedom series 9ar?
yes, but the tailpiece is a huge difference. the abus 83 series tailpiece is a pain in the ass, you can't even use the schlage cylinder crown tool thingie to swap it out. the abus 83 was my go-to for this purpose until we introduced this lock.
@@hipu 90% of the time most people don’t even use or have the Schlage tail cap removal tool or the retention spring is bound up and still requires using just a sharp object like a pic to remove the tail cap so not being able to use the tell cap removal tool doesn’t seem like viable argument.
For 15¢ you can buy just the Abus tail piece to install on each lock for “shotgunning between cylinders”. Where you’re recommend spending $30 plus for each style cylinder.
I understand supporting Toool. But that would get expensive.
I must be missing something.
@@mumbles1justin TOOOL's mission is to advance public knowledge of locks and lockpicking. To strip away the mystery with which most locks, safes, etc are imbued by the industry at large. We also exist to promote hobbyist lockpicking/sportpicking itself. This padlock is a step in both of those directions. It is a much better cylinder holder than the 3d printed and wood holders that I've seen, and it goes "thunk" when you open the cylinder (as opposed to triumphantly rotating with no noise or other feedback).
this lock is a turnkey solution to a very specific minor inconvenience that not very many people have. most people don't know how to find the part number for the abus tailpiece. most people have someone change their oil.
in reality, most people I've tried walking through swapping tailpieces have lost the retainer pin and spring. most people don't know where to begin with how to resolve that, and are more likely to simply consider the cylinder a write-off, or to try and use it without the retainer pin. some people even go as far as to dump the entire cylinder, and that's a blow to the self esteem that can cause people to put down the picks and consider other hobbies. this padlock makes lockpicking a bit more more accessible to the casual and the uneducated. if you don't stand to benefit from that, it doesn't mean the product has no value, it just means perhaps the product is for someone else.
it's also just, in general, cool shit. and last I heard when we make cool shit, the prime directive is to put it on the internet.
@@hipu I understand what your saying. Most beginner lock sport pickers look for the cheapest posable way into the sport. Thats kind of why I put the full Abus part number in my comment was to help educate people that there are commercially available name brand products on the market available from companies online and even locally in some cases and they can also be completely rebuilt from the shackle to the core if someone wanted or needed. In my opinion making the Abus a slightly more attractive option for the fact you see them in the wild and can learn to work on a lock someone may bring to you later.
