Totally enjoyed your video. I just started cycling jun/30/2017 first ride was 3.5 km and now sep/08/2017 I am up, 25 km per ride. I can hardly wait to be able to do a trip like yours. BTW! I am 65 yrs old and a double organ transplant recipient, but I will get there!
Good job, keep on pedalling. I started out the same way. Keep making your routes longer, across the city, across the county, across the state, across the whole country. Every day is something new.
check out the book ReCycled by Richard Smith, a great read by a cycling transplantee
That kid in Vermont seemed so glad to have somebody new to talk to for a few seconds.
Forestry is one tough, brave little guy!
Yes he is, and also very intelligent I admire a man with ball's of steel and a brain to match it! 🦾
I wonder how many people, if any besides Forestry Forest, have rode a mountain bike from NFLD to Ontario.
6000 km. Wow. This guy is unreal.
I liked how the logistics are mixed in such as having to backtrack after four hours, hike a bike, and dealing with no bicyling signs. Not just a highlight reel. Cool music from a 1980’s kickboxing movie.
Dang Forest! You must have legs of steel. Cheers.
deer flies... the best motivator to keep cycling
Right!
I am getting mixed feedback on the music selection. I can re-upload the video with different music. Open to suggestions.
Its weird, I love it and my girlfriend comes and turns it down. Very polarizing! I'd say stick with music with no vocals whatever you decide.
Great choice in music. Love your videos.
Have no idea why,but i enjoy watching this guys videos
11:57 Greatest admiration for your fortitude and bravery in adverse situations. Hats off to you!
Wow, bravo, especially on those flooded and rocky sections. You're a real adventurer.
Your passion for adventure. So consistent. Thanks. Love it.
I've been binge watching your channel while recovering from a surgery. Thanks Simon, very good entertainment.
"something to do." Love it.
A quintessential Foresty Forest response!
You my friend are one special dude! Just the thought of being out in the wilderness all by yourself and having the strength to endure the elements is amazing! Keep inspiring us man!
Nice to see you biking the K&P and Cat trails! Amazing tour, well done!
Awesome trip dude! I'm sure glad you didn't get seriously hurt by inattentive drivers though. You had some gnarly trails to travel too but at least there were fewer vehicles to dodge. Your entire video was interesting and never dull. Great job and good luck on your next adventure.
Love the videos, keep them coming. Super motivating stuff you are doing out there.
Another great video. Your videos are some of my favorites. That looked like a real adventure.
Glad I found your channel. Great video and such a tough journey. That section in the horrible wilderness looked really bad. Glad you got through it all, including the RTA. You certainly deserve a sub and I'll be checking all your other stuff. Well done.
Thanks Eddie, welcome to the channel!
Respect, envy, and inspiration dude. Thanks sharing the vid.
28:56 THAT SNAKE IS HUGE!!! :o
Tu es mon héro! Merci de partager tes expériences, en détail! Ça nous donne des idées de voyage et nous fait rêver un moment, et nous fait sortir de nos vies ordinaires ;) Merci.
Bit late to the party, but enjoyed this. I lived in Maynooth, went to school in Bancroft, have ridden the Lincoln Gap. Pretty cool. I've enjoyed all of your videos.
That was epic man!!! Amazing trip! Thank you for your videos. Would love to see a short video of what you brought with you, how you packed to help others that want to get more into bikepacking. I would be interested in how you kept batteries charged during your time out, how many miles you averaged, did you sleep in a tent every night.. Thanks again for allowing us to live vicariously through your adventure!
Your videos are therapy for me while I work 10 hours a day in a cubicle.
Awesome video! What an accomplishment. I've ridden most of the trails you used in Ontario. There are many more in the region to discover too. North of Perth, there are so many underused trails and awesome campsites. Stay safe on the logging roads!
I know you put a huge amount of effort into making your videos with setting up camera and then backtracking & all. Just want you to know that I really enjoy your adventures after a long day at work, it's a great way to unwind. Do you have any plans for your next adventure? Thanks ForestyForest
Mtbiker27 Rick thanks Rick I am happy to share these adventures with everyone. In February I am off to San Diego for a big ride over to Moab... And possibly back west to Reno via the Pony Express. Can't wait!
Well it's Feb, are you off to San Diego on your way to Moab? :-)
Countdown is two more weeks of work. I will post pictures on Instagram daily once the tour begins. Can't wait!!
I went on the Carataqui trail off of Smith's falls same year (2017). Terrible floods. Had to carry my bike some 400 m 2x. Good idea you had to go up to Bankroft. I went in exactly the same place you did on the Trans Can close to Perth. I love how you take the time to visit every little bit of countryside. Tu dois continuer @ explorer le Québec pour nous faire découvrir de nouveaux coins! Très bonnes vidéos!
Dude that's a nice surprise! Second video already... keep it up man and stay safe 👍
Thanks Joanna!
Wow! 👍🏻 your bike tours are my official saturday night program. When they run out I'll watch'm again.
11:54 seems to happen to me every time I try to be a little adventurous, all the kudos to you for sticking with it!
Loved the trip, thanks again from Fort McDowell, Az.
Love your videos dude. We just moved to PEI from BC and are looking forward to touring some new territory. Have definitely seen some routes on your videos we want to ride. Thanks for all the hard work you put into these videos.
Hey good luck, hope you like it out west! Can't beat the mountains. But the Confederation Trail is pretty neat too!
Of course things got better once you hit New Hampshire, that's where I grace this world in everyday life 😆 Seriously though, this is the video I discovered your channel on years ago. I have the day off work today and was just video hoping around this morning, killing some time. Well, RUclips and it's wacky algorithm decided to point me back here again nearly 3 years later 😁! Great trip my friend. I'm glad your channel has blown up finally in 2019-2020. You've deserved ten fold the amount of subscribers you have for a long time.
Man that was an epic ride, thoroughly enjoyed your video
Another epic adventure! We loved it.
Thanks for the great video and edit - I just got a Beargrease and am looking at short California tours next year - this was a big help.
I biked down the California coast 9 years ago - the most free feeling for a month straight. You're the mann!
I get super stoked watching your videos. Admire your fearless navigation into the boonies. Ever travel with a buddy? Thanks
Always alone so far, I just favour going my own pace.
Love the adventures man keep the videos comming!
Awesome video foresty. Great music choices.
I just started seeing these videos on your channel, they are awsome.
It's fun to go back through some of these old ones. Foresty rode right through my home state of NH. I agree...NH and VT have the best gravel riding routes around. I've also ridden those "No bicycle" logging roads in Rangeley, ME.
Awesome trip and great video. Thank you :)
Amazing distance! Cool landscapes! Different roads :-)
Another great vlog thanks for sharing this awesome adventure 👀📸🚲🚲🚲🚲📸
Ahhhhhh the classic Wolf Island Ferry lol, cool to see you in the area man! find your videos super interesting!
Whoa! Two new videos very close together! This is great!
Great video that's some ride out and lovely scenery .Recently bought a fat bike myself so off exploring the local coastline shame no trails like that near me.
Love your work Foresty! really love that you're pretty self sufficient and not paying all that money to the oil companies, I do wonder how you keep your energy levels up, I'm not a cyclist so I would be keen to know how far you would ride on average each day and how often you need to eat and what food you eat while you're on the road? anyway great videos thanks for sharing them. Cheers mate!
Based on the time taken and the distance travelled for some of his tours, he seems to be averaging between 40 miles a day and 60 miles a day. However, that's almost entirely offroad, with close to 100 pounds of added gear (I'm guessing, but it wouldn't be far wrong), and on very wide Fatbike tyres...that's serious going. Clearly, that takes _years_ of leg conditioning.
What an adventure! I enjoyed it so much 😀
Just rode the Haliburton Rail Trail yesterday Lindsay->Kinmount->Lindsay (110km). Beyond Kinmount requires a Fat Bike which is what led me to your channel a couple weeks ago. My crossover bike just doesn't do well on excessively loose gravel and recent grading in areas have severely restricted my exploration. I hope to afford a Fat Bike by spring and do some extensive touring next year. Nice channel! :)
Outstanding ride! I especially enjoyed the part through Ontario....dirt trail through the forest.
It appeared that this whole trip you never wanted for water. As you well know, here in the southwest, things are very different. You have had better music. Thanks for sharing.
I will also add that I much appreciate that I can watch your videos without commercial interruptions..........SO MUCH BETTER! Thank you.
Beautiful vids! Thanks for sharing bud!😀👍
Going down hill! Must be kind of fun. 😁
Bunnies 🐰😊 Glad you have a van now.
Another moving piece of artwork... Excellent!
Hoping in the near future you will do an assessment of using a Fat Tire bike (Pro's/Con's - Suggestions) for these types of offroad/backroad cycling trips since you have gone through the high mountain deserts and boreal forested trails ~
Short answer... I was doing the same mileage on the fat bike as I did on the old hybrid with 1.5" tires. I felt kind of silly riding all the pavement but it went ok. It handles gravel like a champ though. The biggest factor is the amount of weight you carry.
You have logged so many miles on the other bikes, its good to hear your compare with the fat tire. Funny I could hear your tires in this video when you were on the pavement, and it was giving me indication of your speed although I can imagine you might be turning up the video speed to get certain scenery in... Anyway, thanks for the response, I am curious if you finally made the move to setting your bike up with tubeless tires and if you have thought about putting a dyno-hub on your fat tire bike ~
Nah I just ran tubes for this tour. I didn't get any flats over the whole tour. If I go back to the desert I will probably add some sealant into the tubes like people have said. I carried a 10,000 mah battery pack on this tour and it did the trick. Days were so long, plenty of time to sit in a library to recharge.
ForestyForest so how did you find the Maxxis minion compared to the schwable Jumbo jims?
I like the Minions better. More traction, decent on pavement too. I put together a guide book, gum.co/Cvzn it answers most questions, I will continue adding new stuff to it.
Wow what a trip. Thanks for sharing. Watched this 3 times now .
Subscribed. Thumbs up on the video. Love you put it together. Cheers and shout from Toronto.
As always absolutely stunning
So many cool AT parallels. You’re a real ass dude FF!
This shit was lit! I never saw none of the bike treks, these were doper than the van joints! Bro you got balls!
absolutely outstanding!!! thank you for taking us along. Just curious why the change from a touring bike to a fat bike. I just recently change from a mountain bike to a fat bike and love it. Thanks for all your vid's I look forward to each of your adventures.
Thanks! I needed the fatbike to ride the southwestern USA desert conditions. And it was pretty helpful for riding the Newfoundland section of this tour.
These longer videos are great to watch on the turbo Trainer. Thanks for the inspiration.
Amazing! You should come to Iceland and bike the highlands! I plan to do it this summer.
These videos are unique in the world. Separate topic: I must say, the synth music captures the feeling of adventure so perfectly. I'm not sure which type of music I'd have chosen; not that, but it turns out, it is perfect!
That was fantastic. I've been thinking of doing the Trans Labrador next year. Might think about that boat ride down the Quebec coast now as well. Just subscribed!
Bike east to Kegashka if you do it, I had constant headwinds by pedalling west. Would be an epic loop! Many motorcyclists i met were too afraid to ride the trans Labrador. Black flies are insane.
Yeah the black flies are real bad. We did the Trans Labrador 2 years ago as part of a 9200 km road trip. Considering doing a comparable trip by bicycle next year.
A friend from Montreal also road it two years ago as part of a 12,000 km trip he did.
Thanks for these beautiful, inspiring vids! Have you included a gear list in your Guide Book for this ride?
Most people travel from city to city, state to state, country to country by car or plane, this man bikes it. A true adventurer and wanderer. This guy will put Captain Kirk to shame. He boldly goes where few have gone before.
Love it up there, did some car camping a while back near Quebec City. Flies were intense.
Something magical about Vermont, love it. I'm into about 6-7 hours of your videos and saw "Ontario", I live on the NY side of Lake Ontario, just had to watch. (what the heck kind of snake was that!? Holy Crap!)
your never say never attitude is amazing Forest! continued success on the adventure's
Les paysages sont magnifiques , le Canada c'est un beau pays , beau montage video et sonoreJe regarde tes aventures depuis la Belgique , cela fait rêver et tu es très courageux et sportif.Bravo
Luv your videos man!
I really enjoy that video and kinda be emotionnal for me .. it's a trip i want to do for a long time and you past in my homeland (matane) i feel it and remember me the salty water smell from it (you probably know what i talk about ! Soo nice landscape and for sure i will do it in my life . Continue your video you are amazing ;)
enjoyed your programme .
Like your videos. Good luck to you on your next adventures
I used to live in upstate New York. Reminds me of good times, except for the deer flies! Do you leave your tires at one set pressure, or vary it with the conditions like pavement vs. sand/mud?
Awesome video. Very inspiring
awesome video.
Have you ever watched any of Lohan Gueorguievs Videos? You both like fat bikes at least in his later films. You both avoid crowds. You both try to find the most deserted overgrown trail available. And you both make very good videos. Happy trails.
You make great videos !
You. Are. Amazing. I can’t even imagine
A trip like this is on my bucketlist
Planning to go around the Quebec next summer and this is great inspiration! Foresty forest he live on a bike.. Foresty forest!
Wow! That’s a lot of miles on a fat tire bike! Well done! Also, I like the music, makes me think of Stranger Things! 👌🚴🏼
Outstanding ride on! Absolutely 🇺🇸💯💪
I know you are probably looking to unplug and be by yourself on these adventures but maybe consider leading a small group fat bike tour? 👍 Anyway love He vids and look forward to the next one!!!
Dude. .that was awesome. .you are a trailblazer
.
Wonderful vid and AWESOME soundtrack! Really nice! "Stealth camping" made me scratch my confused Swedish head tho. I tend to forget that trespassing is a thing. =/
Stealth camping while bikepacking in canada is inevitable unlike europe there aren’t hostels everywhere
Big effort great trip and nice vid.
Great videos i just suscribed . You passed through my home town on your way to havre st pierre. Im from kegaska
i scored my trek 930 that i built into a touring bike on camel's hump rd with a FREE sign taped to it, and hauled it back on a honda trail 90!
That's awesome mate, what a find! I know a guy who left a bike with a similar sign at the end of a tour.
What a treat!!
I remember watching this many years ago and I'm crying
It's great that you didn't get hurt or killed in the accident. It impressed me you was even able to find a replacement fork.
It was a solid hit but the bike took the whole impact, not a scratch or bruise on me. I try to choose the least busy roads but it can still happen. I'm glad they were friendly and didn't just leave the scene.
Nice ride man. That sucks that you had so much trouble in Maine. Your NH and VT sections looked amazing. Great work on navigating all those trails. Must have taken some serious route planning the bugs can be brutal and so annoying when you have helmet on so I now totally understand why your not riding with helmet most of the time. Keep up the great rides man. Any recommendations on racks for handle bars and or front fork.
VT and NH were pretty good. I was trying to integrate parts of the Cross Vermont Bikepacking Route, it'd be cool to ride the whole thing. I like my Ortlieb handlebar roll pack, much lighter than running a front rack plus panniers. But Old Man Mountain makes good front racks.
I could feels the stress of that bushwhacking with a tank of a bike. You take some impressively difficult routes.
Hey Foresty Forest I’m loving the fat biking adventures....inspiring! Wondering what the bike is? Peace from Ireland
Awesome bike tour there Brother. Shalom Bubba
