After discovering this channel a few weeks ago and watching just about every video, I have come to the conclusion that Foresty Forest is not human. This guy is a machine.
Once in a great great while, someone "gets it". He or she makes a video(s) of a tour that actually allows you to feel like your with them. No blaring rock, country, rap...etc music. No egotistical bull that gets in the way.....Just the peacefulness and sense of the open road or country. You've nailed it in all of them. Fantastic jobs on all of them. You no doubt have spoiled and will spoil a lot of us. Good luck to you and I hope you can keep up the touring for as long as you can. I'll definitely be hoping you make more. Thank you very much for all your efforts!
idk what video you watched, but there was blaring music for me. Could hardly hear the dialog bc I had to keep the volume low from how loud the music was throughout this.
Probably ended up paying more for passing out at the post office than the entire trip. I had something similar happen and just for the ambulance activating I was out $2000. I mean I live here so I'm used to it but he Canadian so kinda sucks.
I'm halfway through this great video and thought I'd have a cold beer, just to help you out. Seems you have a consuming aversion to blacktop. You have gone places where no Honda Civic can go! I can't help but to tell of a ride from Marrakesh to Figuig to Algiers (only part of a much longer ride). Ran out of water, pushed the bike through sand, in a sandstorm, at night...and lived to tell. That was in 1974.

Absolutely breathtaking scenary, and those shots were set up to perfection, I really appreciate the time you have taken to set up these incredible shots, I know this video was uploaded years ago, but in today's day and age with as fast as technology is moving, you can't really find these types of quality videos online. Agree. It's great to go back and compare Foresty's videos from the early days to the ones he does today. You can see the early indications of talent which are further developed. One thing that hasn't changed is the genuinenes of the content.

What’s amazing is I have lived in Las Vegas for over 20 years and driven to St George over 100 times and have never seen the stuff you have and its an hour drive from my house. I love the way you have learned the areas in the SouthWest and you can see that in later Video’s. I can see why you got the Fat Bike (Lot Less Pushing). Keep up the great work. I have been watching your Van videos for a while and didn’t realize how amazing these bike tour videos are especially the ones local to me.

@@HikingFeral In terms of performance, completely fine. In terms of fun, very much so. The wide tires make a loud roaring sound as you roll from the tread. "On your left brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" Suprisingly easy to pump back up to full pressure too compared to narrow road bike tires.

carry dates for those times you are feeling like you blood sugars are dropping. Dates are a perfect, natural source of energy that has many, many nutrients in it. Just eat one every 10 mile for energy. I always carry them and walnuts in a handlebar bag.

Bro I hiked the 15 right thru there from St George to Vegas when I was hiking across America(snow rt for ADT). You definitely made the right choice of not taking the 15.

Your van build video brought me to your channel, I spend alot of time traveling in my Honda Element. I live in NC and just spent a week in southeastern Utah. The most amazing place I've seen to date. The ride thru Mt. Carmel tunnel was best part, I felt a huge rush of adrenaline for what you weathered up to that point- bravery isn’t the word- this freedom you are showing needs to be shared in schools. They NEED to see the alternative life goals that are truly worth something, like these treks you take and how you experienced them. They need to have a place to have that permission
100% respect to you mate. Doing that epic journey, all that effort and harsh environment and yet still taking the time to stop, walk ahead sometimes up insanely steep hills to plop a camera down and film yourself going past and then stopping to retrieve it... madness xD

Outstanding job putting this video together! No doubt your tour was constantly interrupted by camera setup and take down, but the result was worth it. I liked the personal commentaries you share with your audience. Watching you navigate steep grades that were strewn with baby-head rocks, using only 1.95" semi-slick tires, was almost painful to watch. You're an intrepid soul.
Watching this in 2022 after finding your channel a few months ago. Been binge watching ever since. It was great to see this much earlier, truly epic trip. All the extra work to move the camera! I like watching bike touring videos, but most of them are unwatchable. They are usually filled with amateurish camera work and bad music. Only a few of them have any narration or explanatory subtitles. This film, however, was very well done. The camera work looked professional. It had just the right amount of narration and subtitles, and the music was well chosen and not overdone. It's obvious that a lot of hard work, imagination and thought went into this film. Great job!

I've watched these bike trekking videos at least 3 times. Beautifully done. Foresty did what i always wanted to do and didn't. Great job forest, these are your best videos in my opinion. The new ones are awesome too, especially now that rocko's with you
Very wonderful video indeed. Very relaxing to watch, and it gives me a good example, why I as a German enjoy the United States so much. Being the huge country that it is, there is lots of open space between many more crowded areas, where you have ultimate peace, being all by yourself. I love that. The quiet, the nature. It is almost impossible to get in Germany, you are lucky if there is a stretch of 3 miles of open land between some villages or towns. Sure this way it's more dangerous in the US, but if you want to go for real adventures, I see it as positive not having any possible convinience just half an hour down the road. Your videos inspire me to do the very same. Once the bad time of the year is over, I am planning to do trips through Germany, which is not as incredible as your trips, but still something people would like to see. Especially for Americans, I think it would be an interesting thing to see Germany from the eyes of a cyclist. Getting to see the "real" country, not the big tourist crowded cities. Little villages, distant country roads, paths through forests, the furthest away from what foreigners usually see of the country. And the inspiration you are giving is about how to present all this in a very natural way. And not to forget, my deep respect for you not only for the effort of riding the craziest rock paths there, but taking quite the extra effort for camera positioning with you inside a frame of incredible landscapes. Too bad the awesome shot with the wavey road was pretty short - having done the same kind of biking shots, I assume you were turning around too early for picking up the camera, so that your frame time was that short. Those things are special. Keep it going!
Awesome video. I'm in the "dreaming" stage of planning a big ride myself and I found your video while looking for some ideas and inspiration. You definitely delivered that. I grew up in western Colorado. I've been up Lands End Road many times. Really enjoyed seeing that familiar section. Thanks for documenting your journey!

That was some trip. I don't think I've ever seen someone push a bike as much as I've seen you do it. You also took the extra time to place your camera everywhere, even though you had to go back and get it. Ah, the things I would do now if I was younger. Great video.

Once I started, I couldn't stop watching. Now it is clear why the fatbike setup in Southwest USA video makes so much sense. This video is awesome. But watching a fatbike ride the road less traveled just seems more peaceful.
Other people have already said it better but yeah you make an excellent film. Plenty of wide angle set up shots (lots of work) and beautiful cinematography. I have only seen a few of your uploads but I finally realised watching this one in particular, how much you put in to them. So I hit the button. Buttons..both of em.

I bet you wish you had been on your fat bike with 4.8 inches tyres which you hadn't yet bought when you did this tour? I never saw the need for fat bike. Now I do. You are one fit cookie to ride this and also a pretty good film maker/broadcaster. Thank you for all the effort you make producing your films. Hi, Thanks for replying. Obviously it depends the role you are working in a factory but if it is short term work in a dead end job just to raise some cash to either pay the bills or towards touring again then it must be a killer for you given the demands of your cycle tours and the fine films you produce. Will certainly look forward to your videos of you revisiting Utah and other places you couldn't go with skinny tyres. 1.5" wide tyres was probably a bit too thin, but so much respect for you persevering and carrying on. But hey 4.8 inch tyres is now massive in comparison. Thanks again.
Yeah 1.5" to 4.8" was a massive switch. I have heard of people riding rough desert conditions with 3" tires, maybe 3.8" for touring would work and save a few pounds. But the confidence with 4.8" is awesome and the stability is also great... I think I will keep the fatbike for a while yet. PS, thanks for the donation, it is going towards a tubeless conversion!

I always have a bit of a chuckle watching your videos. You’re like the cool guy in an action movie who doesn’t look back at an explosion. There are these incredible shots set up and then there’s Foresty riding by like no big whoop. “Oh yea, that’s Salmon Glacier, one of those most incredible things on the planet. Whatever”.

One of the best bike touring videos I've watched. I like how you took the time to position your cameras for a nice shot of you actually riding the bike with that gorgeous backdrop. Amazing adventure.

Very wonderful video indeed. Very relaxing to watch, and it gives me a good example, why I as a German enjoy the United States so much. Being the huge country that it is, there is lots of open space between many more crowded areas, where you have ultimate peace, being all by yourself. I love that. The quiet, the nature. It is almost impossible to get in Germany, you are lucky if there is a stretch of 3 miles of open land between some villages or towns. Sure this way it's more dangerous in the US, but if you want to go for real adventures, I see it as positive not having any possible convinience just half an hour down the road.
Your videos inspire me to do the very same. Once the bad time of the year is over, I am planning to do trips through Germany, which is not as incredible as your trips, but still something people would like to see. Especially for Americans, I think it would be an interesting thing to see Germany from the eyes of a cyclist. Getting to see the "real" country, not the big tourist crowded cities. Little villages, distant country roads, paths through forests, the furthest away from what foreigners usually see of the country. And the inspiration you are giving is about how to present all this in a very natural way.
And not to forget, my deep respect for you not only for the effort of riding the craziest rock paths there, but taking quite the extra effort for camera positioning with you inside a frame of incredible landscapes. Too bad the awesome shot with the wavey road was pretty short - having done the same kind of biking shots, I assume you were turning around too early for picking up the camera, so that your frame time was that short. Those things are special. Keep it going!

Absolute beast! And very inspirational! These videos are getting me through quarantine in Minnesota. The time you must take to stop and set up the camera and backtrack for filming is unbelievable. It's been said before but you are one tough SOB!! You could have your own show with some of the footage and content you have provided. This is better than half of the garbage on most cable channels. That was some trip. I don't think I've ever seen someone push a bike as much as I've seen you do it. You also took the extra time to place your camera everywhere, even though you had to go back and get it. Ah, the things I would do now if I was younger. Great video.

FF, I've been watching your vanlife vids for awhile now, but only recently discovered all you bike and fatbike adventures. They are spectacular, and you are a BOSS! Taking me to places and in ways that I will never travel. Keep making film and having these amazing adventures. No "job" can compete with this. Maybe one day Discovery Channel or PBS will pick up your work. You are a real pro, have amazing fortitude, and a great sense of humor. Keep on going, Foresty! Cheers.
Once I started, I couldn't stop watching. Now it is clear why the fatbike setup in Southwest USA video makes so much sense. This video is awesome. But watching a fatbike ride the road less traveled just seems more peaceful.

I bet you wish you had been on your fat bike with 4.8 inches tyres which you hadn't yet bought when you did this tour? I never saw the need for fat bike. Now I do. You are one fit cookie to ride this and also a pretty good film maker/broadcaster. Thank you for all the effort you make producing your films. Thanks for the nice comments Alex. Yes I have plans to revisit Utah on the fatbike. Hopefully very soon! There were so many places I was afraid of going with the skinny tires. So far I just have a link for donations on my main RUclips page, and some things to buy. Maybe eventually I could try Patreon. Viewer support helps me a lot to keep going! Obviously it depends the role you are working in a factory but if it is short term work in a dead end job just to raise some cash to either pay the bills or towards touring again then it must be a killer for you given the demands of your cycle tours and the fine films you produce. Will certainly look forward to your videos of you revisiting Utah and other places you couldn't go with skinny tyres. 1.5" wide tyres was probably a bit too thin, but so much respect for you persevering and carrying on. But hey 4.8 inch tyres is now massive in comparison. Thanks again.
Yeah 1.5" to 4.8" was a massive switch. I have heard of people riding rough desert conditions with 3" tires, maybe 3.8" for touring would work and save a few pounds. But the confidence with 4.8" is awesome and the stability is also great... I think I will keep the fatbike for a while yet. PS, thanks for the donation, it is going towards a tubeless conversion!

I always have a bit of a chuckle watching your videos. You’re like the cool guy in an action movie who doesn’t look back at an explosion. There are these incredible shots set up and then there’s Foresty riding by like no big whoop. “Oh yea, that’s Salmon Glacier, one of those most incredible things on the planet. Whatever”.
