I may be old fashioned, but I use a valise with a handle to travel - no wheels, no extension handles to break or get stuck. Sure, it may be heavy, but this is the way folks used to travel before these newer, cheaper pieces of luggage came on the scene. Dependable and plenty of storage space in each piece of luggage.
Easier still is taking National Express bus to Southampton. Cheaper, more comfortable, and easy to catch from London or Heathrow. That ship was P&O either Britannia or Iona at Ocean Terminal.
I've been to London and Paris before and I totally understand what you're saying those stairs will literally take out all the energy that you have in you when you have luggage so I get it
I'm getting ready to take my mom over to London for the first time we're going to do a 12 day cruise on NCL Encore and I told her the same thing I was like pack l ight. We are going to celebrate her 73rd birthday.
Yeah obsessive planner here need to travel 3 stops to Waterloo on embarkation day your video just drives home that we are going to taxi it because the TFL app says it’s not wheelchair accessible at all. A good indication the route won’t handle luggage well.
Probably a smart move. There is a huge step up to the train and a gap between the platform and the train. Unless you had help, I can’t see how that would work. The bus might be a good option. They may have wheelchair ♿️ accessible doors. I’m not sure. Have a good trip!
The bus train combo is what I used when I left Southampton. It was efficient, but you do need to walk a bit. Going into Southampton was direct by train. I would ask at the info booth. Maybe it has to do with the day off the week, off season, construction? Safe travels!☀️🚢
Yeah.. this is the confirmation I needed. I'd like to take the train... but I'm packing for a 39-day trip. There's no way I can carry it up carry it up sets of stairs without help. Sorry for your struggles, but THANK YOU for this video!!
Sometimes there are elevators…but overall a smaller bag, less clothes and something manageable is better! I have learned to pack a small bag and a large bag, send the large one home (I have a video) and the small one I used for an extend my stay after the cruise. Way easier! Good luck! Thanks for watching!
How many minutes by walking to the cruise terminal from thr souththamton central train ststion and is there a bus to.take us to the terminal,? Thsnk you
You have to take a taxi to the cruise terminal. I overnighted at a hotel and took transport there. It is close by, but not within walking distance. It took about 10 minutes by taxi. I did take a bus to my hotel area near the port. Just ask the information people there in Southampton. They were helpful. Good luck! ☀️🚢
You don’t have to buy them in advance but it is way easier to download the Trainline app and scan your phone through the turnstile. Paper tickets still are issued at the station. Allow time for that. I stayed www.booking.com/Share-DE7WhK. It was the Leonardo Royal Southampton Grand Harbour. You can sign up for a taxi the night before on a list to get to the port. It’s 10 minutes max away. Enjoy!
Hey guys!! Congrats on the channel!! How do I get to the train station from the ship!! We will have about 12 hours stopped in Southampton and we want to spend this hours in London. One more question if you don't mind, Which station is stay the BigBen? thanks for all
Look on the Trainline app. The closest train station is Victoria Station. You might take the tube to get there once you are out of the station, or walk. It was closed when we were there. Good Luck! Thanks for watching!
I think if you have heavy luggage it could be. I know when I was doing that there was major construction in some of the areas and there was traffic. Just double check that! Thanks for watching.
I overnighted at a hotel and then took a taxi. They have helpful people in the train station at information that can help direct you if you need to go directly to the ship
I made this video in 2020 and I am sure prices have changed. Download TRAINLINE app, you can book and see the times. I left from Waterloo, it’s 1 1/2 hours and currently it’s around $40 US one way. There are also buses 🚌 on the app. You can book in advance and scan your phone. Thanks for watching!
Leonardo Royal Hotel Southampton Grand Harbour. They have a ride arrangement you can sign a list the night before your cruise. It’s a five minute drive.
I know it may have been presented a little bit dramatic, I had just started my channel, but just have decent luggage and strength! Thanks for watching! 😊
You spend FAR too much time complaining about your luggage. People come here to get a preview of what it is like to travel by train from London to Southhampton. It would have been better to talk about how much the train ticket costs, where to buy train tickets, how long is the ride from London to Southhampton etc....This is useful information, continually harping about your luggage is not interesting to other people.
I appreciate your feedback. I’m glad to say my channel has improved with time and experience! It’s fun to document travel, but I have learned lots since 2020. Thanks for watching!
Have you ever been on a trip where your luggage just wasn't working for you?! Tell me in the comments.....I learned a lot for sure!

Thank you for the idea! I have gone through at least 6 pieces of luggage between train and plane! 😊

Good to know! Thank you for the information!
Hi there, are there toilets on those buses?
It's cheaper that is the only coach advantage!
I've been to London and Paris before and I totally understand what you're saying those stairs will literally take out all the energy that you have in you when you have luggage so I get it
Haha for real. I am now mentally prepared. Pack light!

@ amazing. Have a wonderful time and sometimes there are elevators. Just look around for people with strollers! Enjoy!
@BonVoyageCruiseTravel lol lol right. Those strollers will take you out lol. Thanks so much.

This video is more about the broken wheel on the luggage than about how to get to South Hampton. Not helpful.
yup!!!! A little bit of reserach and you'll know not to take luggage on the tube.
Thanks for letting know that there are steps that make luggage travel difficult. Not an option for me.
I’m glad it helped. It really is difficult with large and heavy luggage! A bus might me an easier option! Good luck! 🍀
Why isn't there a direct train between London and Southampton anymore? The website only shows a combination of bus and train.
The bus train combo is what I used when I left Southampton. It was efficient, but you do need to walk a bit. Going into Southampton was direct by train. I would ask at the info booth. Maybe it has to do with the day off the week, off season, construction? Safe travels!☀️🚢

Love the random NYC subway b-roll. Way to go! 2:09
London to Southampton Train Station is a pretty easy route. Big bags can be cumbersome! Thanks for watching.

It is better to take a 🚕 taxi. It is not that close! I think at least 10 minutes by car!
Thanks for the videos, going by bus from London to SouthHampton seems to be a better choice.
I think if you have heavy luggage it could be. I know when I was doing that there was major construction in some of the areas and there was traffic. Just double check that! Thanks for watching.

How ma y hours from waterloo to sathampton ,,,?
It’s about 1 1/2 hours
How it takes from waterloo to saththampton ?
Check the Trainline app. It will tell you times and prices. And then you can make a plan! Download that app and buy your ticket through that!
Never buy luggage with those wheels. My husband works for the airlines. Get the wheels that are more exposed
Thank you! I agree! So far things are going fine with my current piece! Thanks for watching!😊
What was the name or number of train? Cost?

T try pad noise, music - means it is hard to hear this softly spoken lady.
Thanks for the feedback! I am learning to work with the background noise! 🥳 Happy New Year!
That's awesome 😍

Quay is pronounced Key. Doesn’t make sense for us to be a reason behind it.
Oh thank you! I didn’t know that! Thanks for watching!😊

Sorry about being snarky. Luggage is tricky! Worst place: Venice. You don't want to go anywhere near that place with rollies! Good luck.

You’re welcome! Bring luggage you can manage and it’s an easy way to get there! Enjoy!
