I was so fortunate to see the Dregs many times starting with small venues while in college. Never a bad performance, unbelievably flawless live and as full and dynamic as a studio recording!!! I got to see them 3 times in 4 weeks in 1980!
I'm here hot on the heels of the 2434th watch of John Petrucci's "Rock Discipline", where he mentions having been blown away after listening to The Bash and then getting 'every dregs album'.
Thank you for posting this! I first heard this on Night of the Living Dregs back in 1979 and thought it was the most amazing live musical performance I have ever heard. Hearing it again all these years later, I still feel the same way.
Same as he said- except It became and remained one of my regular "playlist" songs all this time. And it still doesn't get old to me. Just superb!! Allen Sloan also does amazing work that they "trimmed" to make it all fit in the context of an album from then. Personally, I would've trimmed from something else and let this stand as an amazing performance in its original uncut form- personal taste and not a knock! My favorite Dregs album to this day- but probably because it was my first one of theirs.
This would be astounding enough if Steve and the fiddle player were not doubling or playing harmonically along wiht each other at times. That being said, it's MINDBLOWING.
I dug these guys from way back when, only to have Steve Morse end up in two of my favorite bands, Kansas and Deep Purple. Great guitarist with fantastic musicians.
Please somebody get my jaw off the ground. This track blew me away far more than hearing Van Halen for the first time...no finger tapping nonsense just pure picking.
I can't believe as a huge music fan and of Avante garde instrumentation & Jazz Fusion (this doesn't really fall into that category but it's in the ballpark) stuff it took me so long to discover the Dregs, they are AMAZING!
That would have been cool. Danny was in his Redneck Jazz Days at this point I believe. To see the Frankentele and Danny's Pinstripe Magic Dingus Box Les Paul on the same stage would have been crazy
Lightning fast fingers…. 😳 Accelerating the Walbash Cannonball 🚂🛤️. Imagining the virtuosity they would demonstrate playing Flight Of The Bumblebee. 🪄✨🌟💎😃
Even among other Steve Morse performances, this is top tier

I saw the Diregs 5 times and the Steve Morse Band once. All great shows.
Lord have mercy those boys can play!! Such a great band.
Steve Morse... WE'RE NOT WORTHY!!
EXACTLY!!! 😂😊

Quentin Tarantino
John-Boy from the Waltons haha
Steve Goodman
@@kitahh, Jerry Goodman played violin for the Dregs. This clip is Allen Sloan, however.
Timothy Dalton
It's godlike. Amazing

This and Eric Johnson Austin City Limits are my favorite live guitar virtuosos ever.

Steve's solos here are...well...I have no words that do them justice.
I saw them a dozen times back in the day as well as attending a couple of Steve Morse clinics.
One word: Scorching. With Andy & Rod holding it down, somewhat.
CARACA ISSO É UM COUNTRY ROCK, STEVE MORSE NO COMANDO E TOCAVA RÁPIDO PRA CACETE. NUNCA FUI MUITO CHEGADO A ELE, MAS COM PERFOMANCE PESQUISAREI MAIS.
Absolutely great!
Amazing song ,I love this
steve morse has no equal
It is a good work that contributes to my salvation that I enjoy this video!
Absolutely incredible musicians!
Too bad Danny Gatton didn't jam with the Dregs.
That would have been cool. Danny was in his Redneck Jazz Days at this point I believe. To see the Frankentele and Danny's Pinstripe Magic Dingus Box Les Paul on the same stage would have been crazy
Just WOW, where and when? Funny how they never show Andy.
Montreux Jazz Festival., 1978. On their album 'Night of the Living Dregs'.
Yes, poorly produced/directed to ignore Andy completely.
I love this!!!!
“ We’ll leave a light on “
INSANE!
Drummer Rod Morgenstein has been in Winger for 37 years now
Guthrie Trapp are you getting this?
Sensacional!
Steve Morse is a deity.
lol
he is a bad ass
#beasts
Steve Morse often doesn't get due credit for his versatility and virtuosity/ he was way ahead of anyone when he hit hit the scene !!!###
He was Guitar Player Magazine’s top pick 5 or 6 years in a row.
Fact: you searched for this video
I had their debut album
Steve Morse does not age. He looks the exact same now lol
Unfortunately... the wrists age. On the bright side, his creativity just continues to amaze. ❤
@@brucec8348 Yep, he adapts.
