I was diagnosed AFib when I was 52 years old. At that time I work in a very high stressful job. I was prescribed Rhythmol for my afib but I don’t take it all the time. I usually hospitalized 1 to 3 times a year. In 2017 my Afib get worse and after discharged from the hospital I did some research and decided to go to a naturopathic doctor. She asked me if I have an infected tooth and I said yes. She advised me to go to a dentist to have it removed because it might be one of the predisposing factors to my AFib besides stress and poor diet. I also watch a cardiologist in youtube stating that diseases from chest to the head are often cause by oral infection or periodontal infection. I therefore have my teeth extracted, take daily Magnesium, eliminate sugar and processed foods in my diet and exercise daily by walking an hour. Its been 4 1/2 years now that I never been hospitalized, never take medication for AFib except my Magnesium supplement and other vitamins and my EKG is normal. I’m now 65 years old. Thank God!

I take metoprolol 5 meg. 1and1/2 tab. Every morning with breakfast. I had hart failure at age 58 and I died 3 times before I got to the hospital. That’s when the doctor did angioplasty and I came back to normal after a month. The afibb happened several month later. Today I am doing ok. But if you don’t remember to take the medicine you loose. I m just getting over my last episode. I have had a bad life and a lot of stress but I’m going to get back to my life and move on with god’s blessings.this last episode I had lost my only son and it all happened on my birthday March 26 this year. Yep, my afib started with the death of my last living relative, my Father. I sunk into a deep depression and my body had issues too (back and shoulder) which i had to have surgeries on. But the anxiety of being the last in my family with nobody else, and a failing marriage after 16 years and the depression really messed up my heart. Sorry to hear your loss Sandra.

I'm sorry for your loss. I'm probably suffering stress that I don't admit to. My youngest son is having problems, and my wife is a dud - but they way I grew up, I was taught never to complain or ask for help. Are you sure your metoprolol is 5mg? On my goodrx 25 mg is the lowest dose, and I'd like to lower mine if I could get my doctor to allow it. Metoprolol lowered my heart rate, so some times it goes to 45 beats per minute, and that seems to low for me.

The treatment cardiologists never mentioned to me: Magnesium and lots of water, electrolytes. Since I began taking Remag (a potent liquid magnesium) a few years ago my Afib epidodes have almost gone away, from once every two to three weeks for a few hours to once every few months for a few minutes. Ironically some of the meds used to reduce blood pressure leach magnesium from our bodies. I am convinced that taking my daily magnesium and staying well hydrated is the best way to avoid afib. I recently read a testimonial that a guy takes a Nunn tablet (hydrator) at the onset of an afib episode and his heart is back in normal rhythm within a few minutes.

Have you also got High Blood Pressure ? Have you tried Potassium supplementation ? Try eating 6-8 bananas and a couple of Avocado per day or other high Potassium foods for a week with normal salt use and your normal food ! I have had occasional Afib for as long as I can remember and started this regime about 2 months ago and BANG , it was gone ! I only eat 2-3 bananas a day and 5-6 avos a week now . Also I use a Potassium supplement 6-8 tabs a day 600-800 per day total . A healthy person needs 4700 mg per day at least , you can't OVERDOSE with food but you can with supplementation but you would need to take a lot of pills . Most Potassium pills are 99mg so overdose requires a lot of pills !!!

After I had 2 stents put in; one in the ascending aorta of my heart and the other is the descending aorta of my heart at a local hospital. Two months later, I went back at Stanford for my annual checkup.and asked for another PCP. This Dr took my family history and all the pertinent data of myself including the ECG from the local cardiologist. Before I went to the lab on the ground floor, she told me that a lot of my illness such as arteriosclerosis, diabetes can be reduced through proper diet . She said 60% of what is ailing me is because of bad nutrition. I am so glad you have a real chef who knows what food does and how to minimize his meds. My wife has Afib and will take account of what is said on the video. Thank you.

I believe Afib is the symptoms, not the cause. Many factors can cause Afib. And we have to figure out what causing it. My wife has off/ on Afib ( paroxysmal Afib) Started about 15 years ago, once every few months, to once a month about 5 years ago, and recently about once a week. Each time last about 10-15 hours.
These are my conclusions as a physician myself:
The heart natural automatic initiation and conduction system ( sinus node, nerve pathways in atrium, A-V node …) are working perfect most of the time as in my wife. Something WE do which causing the problem . What are those:
1- inflammation and inflammatory factors: majority of these offenders are coming from food which we put in our body and cause inflammation. Like Refine sugar, artificial foods, processed foods etc.
2-vagus nerve irritation. This nerve supplies heart as well stomach… anything we put in our stomach which irritate the nerve can irritate the heart too. Such as alcohol, caffeine, spicy food etc… Also lack of sleep, stress etc, can triggers and cause the same problem.
    So what we did:
Finally we eliminated all suspicious foods. We went back to basic: cooked at home. ate natural food. Stopped any factory prepared food, even no milk, or bottled water. Practically we ate fruits, veggies, nuts, rice, beans nuts etc. we stopped sugar too. And no coffee, ony hot water . The result : NO Afib.
yes, be patient, and persistent . You can do it, before it’s too late. When the heart is too much damaged, and dilated, it’s too late to reverse it. Good luck to all of you.

I’ve had Afib since my late 20’s and have lived with it for decades, although my heart beat sounds and feels regular. I also have a resting pulse rate of 35 BPM which freaks the docs out. I take a baby aspirin, that’s it. I exercise regularly with no issues. The important thing is to not let the medical definition of normal put you into a fear state. Instead of treating the individual, many docs treat the numbers (anything out of the “normal” range) with a variety of technologies. Luckily I have a good cardiologist who doesn’t push procedures. Having said that, an echocardiogram is important as it will tell you your ejection fraction - reduced ejection fraction is correlated with the risk of sudden death. Also make sure you know and manage your CHADS score - this forms the basis for many cardiovascular interventions. Nutrition and daily exercise are key. Supplement with the RDA of magnesium, appropriate amount of D, and Vitamin K2 because they are not prevalent in the food supply. Eat one Brazil nut every day for selenium. Stay hydrated and consume lots of leafy greens, vegetables, nuts like raw walnuts, fruits and berries, beans, lean protein, etc.; adequate intake of electrolytes is important, especially potassium. Build relaxation into your schedule. Don’t get panicked into a potentially unnecessary procedure. Hope this helps.

I had the first couple of rounds of vax ( mRNA type) but the afib only really flared up a year later in spring 2023 during a 10k race where I was late for the start and ended up in Afib then falling and needing A&E to patch me up. A little later I had an attack that went on for hours so I went to A&E and that triggered a full run of cardio tests leading to a diagnosis of paroxysmal Afib. I recently had a cryoablation operation. I am a bit worried that 3 weeks after the op it keeps recurring with very unstable bpm even when sitting or lying. My BMI is 26 and I am trying to lose weight, I eat low carb, only very occasional alcohol, I do gentle cardio and pilates. No smoking, I sleep 7 hours most nights. Not sure what else U can do. I have during the 4 weeks had 2 times very difficult afib for about 5-7 days. So bad that I could only walk for about 1-2 km in a very slow pace and slept most of the day. I was usually rowing about 50-60 km every week.
Beta blockers helped me in the beginning, but it was again very bad after 1 week. Everytime I stood up I was close to passing out. What made a big difference for me was 20-40 min a day Yoga Nidra. That really helped.

Aside from stress and perhaps working too hard and an injury that had me on crutches for one year it is undetermined at this time how I could possibly acquire AFIB. I do not smoke nor consume alcohol non take any kind of drugs legal or otherwise. I eat a healthy vegetarian diet consisting of mostly organic foods and grow my own organic garden. Other suspects are perhaps a nutritional imbalance ( have not had live blood cell testing in 2 years) and low protein because I do not eat meat. Will check out your website. Thank you for sharing.

About a month ago I went into A Fib after a high stress incident on top of too much other chronic stress. I'm 59 in good condition and was working out with a personal trainer to get into even better condition by building muscle and increasing cardio endurance. I called my GP and he sent me for a EKG. From there I was sent straight to the hospital. As a doctor it's especially confusing to suddenly become the patient. I argued with the cardiologists for an hour about getting to the root of why was my AFib happening and to address that issue. I had all the tests and my heart and coronary artery were in good condition. This is not a language they understand. They know procedures. In the end I got the cardioversion and meds, blood thinner and beta blocker. Before this I never even took an aspirin. I too am like this guy and want to get off the meds. I don't feel there is an inherent problem with my heart. I am letting things go more and reducing stress. Also hiking, some of it strenuous up and down mountains without any problems. I'm looking for the right guidance.

This really limited what I can do now. I also have not decided on any procedure yet whether Cardioversion, ablation, or drugs. It all sounds bad to a guy who never even took a Tylenol. I also feel there must be a way to Heal the cause of Afib. Mine came on during a period of prolonged intense stress and my dad dying. It felt like a broken heart. I had been shouldering the stress and heartache and acting normally, just continuing on with life. It now feels like my dear heart took the full weight of it all and was overwhelmed. Now I get fribulations when I just even hear of something not going right (even just having a flat tire in the driveway) like my mind can handle it but my dear heart takes it so hard. Like she’s just so tired and now needs TIME and gentleness and very kind and gentle but dedicated exercise to regain her strength and wellness. Sounds weird. Feels like I’m carrying a very sensitive soul I’ve been neglecting and overloading, and now need to pay attention to. FEELINGS.

I was diagnosed at age 44. My CHADS score (stroke risk) was low, so started out with metoprolol, and wore a CAM strip. While sleeping my heart rate got to a peak of 240bpm. Cardiology added flecainide and upped the metoprolol. Symptoms reduced about 40%, but my resting heart rate was 38, and I was a slug. Still got into flutters fairly easily. Moderate exercise, filling meals or alcohol would all trigger. A few months later I met with the electro physiologist, and was recommended for catheter ablation.
Long story, but the procedure took nearly 8 hours, and there was an incident post-op where I aspirated during extubation. I caught double pneumonia and spent time in the ICU and week admitted. It was a rough couple months.
My heart rhythm has been normal since the blanking period, and I was only on elqiuis for a duration following the procedure. Down to just 50mg metoprolol daily. Only probably is I can't drink. 2 glasses of wine send me ibto tachycardia pretty reliably, and I stay there for several hours.

Not being a doctor I can’t say for sure but there are so many factors that may cause or aggravate AFib and the doctors don’t really know what causes it. They are just speculating that things like diet, alcohol, caffeine and sleep apnea and stress may be contributing factors.
Length of time eating carnivore may have an effect. I’ve been carni for 319 days. How about you?
All I can tell you is to review your diet and make sure you are only eating animal fats, protein water and salt. No processed foods. No sugar, seeds, seed oils.
Maybe you need to go lion diet and eat only ruminant red meats, water and salt. And sometimes nothing fixes it. Just because I haven’t had an episode since I became carnivore doesn’t mean it still won’t happen someday. But I’m doing so good that I no longer have sleep apnea and my cardiologist has cut my final heart pill in half. I have a friend however that has a different form of AFib that me (I have paroxysmal) and he is strict carnivore but has episodes quite often.
I don’t understand why you can’t get in to see a doctor. When I have an attack it’s pretty severe and I have to go to the emergency room.
Good luck and I hope you find a solution.

My earliest memories of afiib go back to about 8 years old,I always assumed it was a normal feeling that I learned early on I could convert by holding my breath for a few seconds. I was officially diagnosed at 29 years old and put onto digoxin,it really didn't make much difference over the 20 years I was on it. I ended up seeing a new cardiologist about ten years ago,he took me off of the digoxin and put me onto atenalol ( I think that is what it was) I was on it for about a year and realized I was having memory loss issues, turns out it was a side effect. Ultimately he took me off of it and I have been med free for about 8 years now,I take no meds at all. However I do have episode's still occasionally,I have found that if I react the moment I feel it coming on,I can convert quickly,I normally just kneel down, put pressure on carotid artery and hold breath for a few seconds, this normally works quickly. However there are times where I wake up in afib and if it has gone on for any lenghth of time,it is difficult to convert back, and usually how I do it when this occurs is to elevate my heart rate through short bursts of rapid exercise,my cardiologist isn't crazy about this method, but it works for me. I am 58,work full time (50 hrs a week) in a very physical job,I do walk about a half hour daily before work, plus add about ten thousand steps daily with work, and am overall in great shape other than a little overweight, maybe 15 lbs or so. I have considered ablation, but my doc does not feel it is a good option.

Interesting to see this. I’m not diagnosed with a. fib, but I’ve known for awhile (like years), I had something going on with my heart. I found that “zapping” my heart with bursts of cardio that get it pumping keep the episodes at bay if I do it daily. Or if I’m feeling like my heart rhythm is off, the cardio will reset the rhythm somehow. I had no scientific basis for this. It was just trial and error for myself. Interesting to hear this is other people’s experience, too.

Anyone who is on anti-coagulants/blood thinners should know what the potential adverse side effects are. Dig deeper than the handout from the pharmacy you get with your drug. Even that is scary enough - brain bleeds, gastrointestinal bleeds. I didn't know what was happening when my knee swelled up and I couldn't walk. It was the Xarelto that had caused a spontaneous bleed into my knee joint. I had several aspirations of blood from my knee; that was three months ago, and my knee is still not back to normal. I also got a steroid shot for the pain. These drugs are dangerous - at least for some people. Don't rely on your doctor to give you the complete picture of side effects.

This stuff is nasty though. Vertigo, nausea, strange sensations in my legs. Ugh I feel the meds are worse than my Afib symptoms. Tried beta blockers years ago and never again.
I find that when I’m very disciplined with my diet (zero sugar), walking, lots of electrolyte water and staying away from stress as much as possible- I rarely go into Afib at all. But it’s hard to do around the holidays or vacations… and then I pay for it so I guess I gotta get comfortable with staying disciplined all the time now if I don’t want to have episodes.

Then I went back to my sleep pulmonologist, and I asked why doesn't my cpap stop this. He looked at the data for my cpap and said it was working fine, but cpaps can't stop afib, but it would be a lot worse if I wasn't on my cpap machine. If I did anything remotely strenuous even for 10 seconds my pulse would be so high I thought I was having a heart attack. Apparently millions of people have long covid and heart arythmius with high pulse rate is one of many symptoms. After around 10 days of careful eating, no sugar and low carbs and a dozen different supplements that I take everyday my pulse is now in the low to mid 80s. Thank God because many people still suffer almost 2 years after initial symptoms and have become bed ridden.

Could infection with Covid cause A-Fib ? Maybe asymptomatic Covid and the body releases the inflammation juices to get rid of the virus..

I see you also have High Blood Pressure ? Have you tried Potassium supplementation for your Afib and BP? Try eating 6-8 bananas and a couple of Avocado PER DAY or other high Potassium foods at that level for a week with normal salt use and your normal food ! I have had occasional Afib for as long as I can remember and started this regime about 2 months ago and BANG , it was gone ! I only eat 2-3 bananas a day and 5-6 avos a week now . Also I use a Potassium supplement 6-8 tabs a day 600-800mg per day total . A healthy person needs 4700 mg per day at least , you can't OVERDOSE with food but you can with supplementation but you would need to take a lot of pills . Most Potassium pills are 99mg so overdose requires a lot of pills !!! Potassium Gluconate is the best !
