    📜Important explanations to the video📜
1:23-1:27 On the 22nd of June 1528, William Carey died of the sweating sickness. Many who caught the sickness were dead within twenty-four hours. Both William’s sister in law, Anne Boleyn and his father in law Thomas Boleyn caught the sweating sickness luckily for both they made a full recovery; William Carey was not so lucky.
2:20 - 2:22 Mary's financial circumstances became so desperate due to disfavour from her family.. It was Anne who relented, sending Mary a magnificent golden cup and some money, but still refused to reinstate her position at court.
2:23 - 2:27 Anne did help to settle Mary’s debts when she was widowed to her first husband, Carey. Anne also offered wardship to her nephew, Mary’s son Henry Carey, benefiting his education.
*An unexpected blow to William Stafford's career and life*: Mary’s husband was to enjoy royal favour for some years to come, but in 1543 he was briefly in disgrace. At a meeting of the Privy Council at St. James’s Palace on April 5 that year, William Stafford, along with his wife’s kinsmen Sir John Clere and Thomas Clere, and a Mr. Hussey, was committed to the Fleet prison “for eating flesh on Good Friday.” On April 19 the Privy Council ordered that all these prisoners were to “have the liberty of the garden” at the prison, and on May 1, 1543, dismissed William Stafford, Sir John Clere and Mr. Hussey “from attendance” at council meetings.
It is likely that these misfortunes came at a difficult time, and that Mary was ill when her husband was in prison and dismissed from attendance at court. But he was not out of favor for long, and on May 15, at long last, a grant was made to “William Stafford and Mary his wife She died on July 19, 1543, leaving her eighteen-year-old son, Henry Carey. It is possible that her death was sudden, but the cause is unknown (probably it's cancer) .We might even speculate that the stresses and tragedies of the past decade had hastened her end...

Finally some more content on Mary Boleyn. She is so underrated and gets such a bad rap from most historians. Looking forward to viewing this!

History has definitely been unkind to Mary Boleyn. I don’t believe she was the great whore that the French and English courts tried to make her out to be. A woman in her position would never have been able to deny a King. Her beauty was unmatched, which was why Henry VIII & Francis I took her as their mistress. Mary wasn’t as witty or intelligent as her sister, Anne, but she married for love, kept her head, and still has living descendants around today. Anyone who survived Henry VIII is a winner in my book.
