I usually released at 300m above the runway and made the circle. For thermals we got released at 600m, also above the runway. Here your position was different and you did perform a nice landing:)
Cheers bodysurf. It's a great airfield. Lots of "alternative landing areas". Thou you owe a lot of beers at the bar if you outland. It's a ball ache for the club members to come and retrive the glider. You never know what's under the crops and can easily loop the glider. The farmers are never keen having a four wheel drive and huge trailer driving through their fields/crops and it is no fun removing the wings to load everything into the trailers and reassemble them back at the airfield. Thou any landing you walk away from is a success. Benalla is a world famous airfield because it is in an area of wave and can often fly high and long distance, 500km flights are possible with the right conditions. The club members have had plenty of experience of retrieving the gliders along way from home when they don't make it home :>)
@@BikesDrones Know what you mean about special air conditions. Albuquerque, New Mexico , close to where I live hosts an international hot air balloon fest every fall. They have , what they call a box.....so ballooners can go one direction then change altitude and go 180*. So they can basically circle the town and land on the field that they took off from.
@@bodysurf100 Amazing, some pilots sure can read their local skys. To fly around in a hot air balloon and land in the same airfield is incredible. Just to know when to ascend and descend at the right times must take 100s of hours of flight. Ground crews must love working with these guys/gals.Take a motor out of flight and you have to be even more in tune with your environment. Once I started flying I never looked at clouds the same way again. Every one tells a story.

Hi my friend i know this was a year ago, but bloody well done for your safe landing,
Chris.
Thanks Chris appreciated.
Looks like Benalla
@@MrTonyboyce 100% correct. Great place to fly.
What´s wrong with your speedometer ( Fahrtenmesser) ?
Speedometer is in Knots.
Below comment confirmed what I wondered...What height are you normally released. Nice vid, something different to watch 👍
At all depends on operations and conditions but usually at least 2000ft. Cheers

Why did the tow rope release so early, was it a failure?. Nice landing
It was released deliberately to test my reactions.
Lots of flat wide-open countryside......just what you needed.

That was super cool bro 👍👍👍
Cheers man. Great fun with a few anxious moments every now and again.
Nice
Thanks Megan.
Jesus! Nice landing though👍
Very happy it all went well. Turned around and tried again straight after. Loved gliding, especially aerobatics, as much as riding.
Always wanted to listen to Fanfare to the common man, whilst flying. Guess this will have to do. 🎶🎵
