      I feel bad you had to add that caveat in the beginning. I don’t watch analyzations a lot and certainly have none of yours, but saying that there’s many messages or viewpoints and this video will focus on one or two should be enough. Anyway, hopefully you don’t feel pushed away or like you have to shut up. Stay strong. You’re sure as hell braver than me for putting anything out at all. • @yilyau
      @yilyau  10 месяцев назад +32

      That’s what I thought as first, but whilst the bold eye colour takes inspiration perhaps from that, the inclusion of the bold lip makes it appear ‘unspecific’ as it arguably draws from a different decade. For example, if you look at Twiggy, she seems to mostly sport a heavy eye with nude lips.

    I loved this analysis I’ve been hoping someone would cover this movie for a while. The topics of make up and fashion as both a tool for empowerment and for conforming to men’s desire is something I don’t hear a lot. I fell in love with this movie and Elan. I even started to dress and wear makeup similar to her as she was representative to how beauty could also be empowering. The way that she uses her sexuality and beauty as a weapon against the men who would abuse her flips the way that feminist is seen as weak or only a for men. I think this film is portrayed where women can feel empowered to reconnect with themselves and the witch inside us all.

    This might be a reach, but i've always imagined that the 60s look to the film was a representation of Elaine's delusion. Anything that shes involved in (her car, the woods guy's car, her clothes, her house, etc) is vintage somehow and the acting is very corny, like she imagines herself in a old movie. It makes me wonder if she really kills the detective in the end.

    Hey, cute thing, i recommend you to put your voice in a more bass tone 'cause you sound so inegible, albeit your voice is wondrous, its hard to distinguish what you're sayin'

    • @Ri57490
      @Ri57490 11 месяцев назад +8

      Her voice is too airy and lacks resonance. Also her diction is bad. She doesn't necessarily need to add more bass, but she needs to project her voice better. Voice classes would help. It helped me.

      I never said they were insulting me. There’s hardly any room to improve the diction unless I have surgery; the impediment is related to physical aspect as well. Who knows; it may also be partially an accent issue.
      I’m already trying hard to enunciate and make everything sound as clear as I can; it’s just the way my movements are restricted. This isn’t like flexibility, where you can improve by stretching more.
      As for the audio mixing you would be right, I am still working on the sensitivity of the better mic and am sorry about that.

    I thought the movie was terrible. I shut it off after 20 minutes. Bad acting, strong feminism, overbearing narcissistic attitudes. If the lead actress showed nudity in the first sex scene, it would have drawn you more into believing her character .. that no man could withstand or survive her sexuality. Initially the movie reminded me of "Under the Skin", where in both movies a beautiful, detached, other worldly woman seeks out males as objects to solely suit their purpose with tragic results.

      How is it ridiculous? Also did u not hear the video essay where Anna Biller says it is NOT a feminist movie? I think there are thousands more movies that are shallow and degrading to women, than this one movie about a woman struggling with balancing social norms, her own wants, and her past traumas

    • @Pretty_horrid
      @Pretty_horrid 4 месяца назад

      @@Edward2737-el6lx Why? Because you can't face reality and see that society has and does treat women and feminine people badly? Women talking about the dehumanization and objectification we face as well as violence and oppression from personal to institutional levels. And all you have to say is some lame anti humane excuse about how you don't like women fighting for their right to be exist and be seen as human. It's your fault you think feminism tastes bad. You don't like women telling you that you are privileged and you hurt women in society by basically not listening to them and putting your dumbass opinion on everything. If you didn't like this movie about men being murdered. Then I bet you'd be disgusted by all the real cases of women being murdered by men because of rejection or obsession. Violence against women is real whether you like it or not. Go complain and be a baby somewhere else.
